The hotel has some of the standards you would expect from a hotel of this category: nice staff, good restaurant, beach towels, good housekeeping. The bed was very good and the room was clean. It is nice to relax by their swimming pool, specially after a hot day in Manuel Antonio park.

It is very overpriced. The room does have “US motel style” and is definitely not what I expected for the price. It is also very small and didn’t have any nice touches (they didn’t even provide mineral water in the fridge, which is provided even in small and cheap hotels in Costa Rica). Bathroom is small and dated; the shower leaks a lot of water through the door, and water pressure is low. The hotel is due for renovation. Breakfast is mediocre for the price.

This hotel has two locations and we lucked out with the one right by the beach (the other is not far at all). There was a short cut that allowed for quick access to the warm and wonderful water. The staff was welcoming and helped us with an unusual check out time for a really early flight back from sjo. The property was beautiful with a (warm) pool, outdoor showers, hammocks, lounge areas and beautiful jungle sounds. The breakfast was a nice buffet at the other location and we even took advantage of the pool bar at that one. Overall a lovely stay close to the beach with a beautiful jungle feel and very helpful staff!

Food and drinks were a little pricey.

We stayed at both the Playa Espadilla hotel and the Gardens hotel for a few night each and it was our favourite place we stayed. The beds were so so soft and comfy, the breakfast was delicious, we really enjoyed the fresh fruit and banana pancakes. The staff were super kind and helpful and easily contactable on WhatsApp. They arranged a breakfast takeaway box the night before we were due to go on a tour too early the best day to make the breakfast slot at the restaurant. Beautiful grounds, saw capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, big iguana lizards, tiny little geckos, cool bugs and butterflies. So cool to be so close to the MA park, it's really convinient fot visiting it, as well as getting to see the same wildlife out of the park!

Did spot a few cockroaches but you're in the jungle so you can't really avoid bugs!

Excellent location very close to Espadilla Beach and Manuel Antonio National Park. I enjoyed everything about it: bed super comfortable, quality rooms, nice pool area, loved the buffet style breakfast, etc but the building looks kinda old/vintage from the outside. Our first impression was like oh, it looks like an old timey hotel but we didn’t care after. Also, since it’s very close to the park you might see a lot of wildlife like monkeys, macaws, crocodiles. The check-in receptionist was extremely friendly but the check-out one had a strange energy. Maybe I wasn’t used to returning the beach towels at the check out. Overall, I recommend this hotel. This isn’t the hotel’s fault but the area can be super busy so expect being harassed by guachimen when driving through (people that helps you parking/watching your car)

Absolutely beautiful surroundings, the restaurant is amazing, served us up one of the best dinners we've had on our whole holiday. Staff are warm and friendly, very helpful. It's literally a few steps away from the entrance to Manuel Antonio park and the beach at the town, so you'll not have far to go for anything. Great pool with covered loungers so even if it rains you can enjoy being outside and chilling.

The bed was a little uncomfortable and on the small side but that's being very pedantic!

The location was great! It is easily walkable to the beach and to Manuel Antonio National Park. I loved that the pool is open 24h.

It was not made clear on the listing that Hotel Playa Espadilla and Espadilla Gardens are separate hotels and that booking the Gardens rooms are on a separate property. While they are very close and you can access the other hotel's amenities, it would have been nice to know it up front.

Lovely grounds, comfortable rooms.

The wait staff literally stood beside our table, arguing who gets which table for the dinner shift. Loudly joking and slapping the tables. we were the only ones in the upper part if the dining area, it was as if we weren’t even there. They’ve lost any sense if service ir connection. Just deliver the food and walk away. At breakfast, there were only two tables seated, 2 of us came in and selected a table for 4 near the garden at the back in the morning sun. The girl with butterfly tattoos told us we had to move to a 2 top because larger parties “might” come in. There was nobody else there the whole time.

We had a great stay at Hotel Playa Espadilla & Gardens. We stayed there for 3 nights. Our room was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were really nice and incredibly helpful. We booked a guided tour of the national park with the hotel and they also helped us book an airport transfer. You can book different kinds of excursions and tours with them. In addition, the hotel has an amazing location, it is so close to the beach and the national park. We didn't need to use any form of taxi while we stayed there since the area has everything we were looking for. We also enjoyed using hotel's pool. You could see so much wildlife just around the hotel or the pool area which we loved. The breakfast offered by the hotel contains a lot of delicious options. The hotel's restaurant is a great option for lunch and dinner as well. I would definitely recommend staying here, it is an amazing hotel!

The hotel has a strategic location, a 4min walk from the entrance of the park. Nice pools, beautiful Balinese-style beach beds, helpful staff, good breakfast. It’s a combination of buffet and a-la-carte. Friendly iguanas around the pool and on the roof. You can see monkeys in the trees.

The rooms themselves were a bit simple for the price I paid. The on-site restaurant is quite pricey as compared to the others that you can find in a 5min walking radius, but it’s true that it’s high quality. Careful with the illegal “parking officers” around the place, they even have whistles, just IGNORE them and drive straight to the hotel’s parking area.

The hotel area was very nice and clean, workers kept cleaning everything daily. Everything was superclean and taken care of. Very friendly reception and very helpful. Superclean pool and very tasteful pool beds with power for your laptop and a fan and lights. Direct walkway to the beach and very good restaurant for dinner. Room was small but very good beds, clean room and a modern bathroom. Superhelpful communication over whatsapp with replies within minutes!

The dinner and lunch was amazing, the breakfast was not very good.
