My stay at the Ambassador Hotel was enjoyable, with a quick check-in and check-out process despite the long queue. I particularly appreciated the amazing breakfast and dinner, which offered a variety of food to suit every taste. The hospitality and friendliness of the staff made the experience even more pleasant.

While my stay at the Ambassador Hotel had its highlights, there were a few aspects that I found disappointing. The air conditioning was still set to cooling in October, making the rooms and corridors uncomfortably chilly. Even during dinner, the AC was too strong, affecting the overall dining experience. Additionally, I was puzzled by the hotel’s decision to allow outdoor visitors into the wellness (sauna) area, despite the hotel being fully booked and having limited, if not insufficient, space for its own guests.

We had an upper floor room with a deck. Great view. The Wellness Spa met all the needs. Unfortunately it rained during our stay but we were able to spend time in the spa and indoor pool (salt water) . Huge buffet breakfast with made to order eggs etc. was a perfect way to start the morning. All the staff were amazing from reception to concierge through to wellness centre and housekeeping. Everyone had a smile on their face and made us feel very welcome. Gorgeous facility with lots of little sitting areas.

We were sorry we had to leave.

- Facilities: private beach, outdoor and indoor pools and a lot of outdoor space - The valet parking and private parking service (even if there is an additioanl fee) - The room with sea view - Walking distance from the city center but away from the noise - Breakfast was perfect.

I would have expected rooms and common areas to be cleaner and more well-maintained. Several furniture of the room had scratches, the cleaning service was not always spotless, the shower leaked water into the bathroom. Dinner was ok but was expecting more from a hotel with such good reviews and ratings. Also, it was not explicitly stated that dinner was a buffet dinner.

Great location, spacious room with balcony and nice views, helpful staff

The beach area is too small for this size of hotel, pool area is big but extremly hot, only people that come around 7am get sunbed at the beach. The noise cancellation between rooms and from outside is not very good.

If I could sum it up in one sentence – this was the best vacation of my life. The hotel provides a level of service that always exceeds expectations. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, with excellent soundproofing, all the essentials you might need, and an efficient air-conditioning system. Food deserves special thanks to the hotel team. The selection is outstanding, catering to every taste – everything is incredibly fresh, from fruits to desserts. The spacious dining halls with sea views make every meal a delight. Room service could offer a slightly wider menu, but delivery is impressively fast. As for the staff – every single person is professional, attentive, and ready to help in any situation. A special thanks to the management for creating such a high standard of hospitality. Parking. The hotel has a large public parking area nearby, but since the street is narrow, spots fill up quickly. I recommend using the hotel’s underground parking. It is tight, so if you don’t have much driving experience, it’s best to let the staff park the car for you (they kindly do this free of charge). Beach. The location is breathtaking – right on the seafront, with a private beach, crystal-clear water, and amazing marine life for snorkeling. In addition to the private beach, there’s also a pool and access to several public beaches nearby. Infrastructure. Opatija itself is a gem – a charming blend of Austrian, Italian, and Croatian architecture. The city center is beautiful, perfect for strolling and relaxing, with plenty of seaside restaurants. There are also shops, a market, and supermarkets (though parking in town can be a challenge). Prices are, of course, on the “touristy” side. In summary: we will definitely return to this wonderful hotel, the beautiful city of Opatija, and Croatia.

As for the downsides, they are not really about the hotel itself. The city can get noisy at night due to scooters and motorbikes, so if you like to sleep with open windows, that might be a challenge (though the hotel rooms themselves are very quiet). Another small detail: if you leave food on the balcony, expect the seagulls to help themselves!

I really liked everything in this superb hotel, staff was really nice. Room with a sea view was amazing. Only "bad thing" is finding a parking space. if they are charging for a hotel parking 15€ or 20€ a day, there should be a free parking spot at all times.

Hard to find a parking spot ( which u have to pay ), in my opinion parking should be included in a room price, which is not cheap ( 300 to 400€ ) a night

There were too few spaces at the beach, if you go to the beach at 8 30 AM all of the deck chairs are marked by towels but there are no people around on half of them. Hotel staff say that people come at 6.30 and mark the chairs. This was quite annoying, I want to relax during my vacation not fight for deck chairs on the beach. Bathroom felt a bit cramped in our superior double room. Overall I didn't feel much difference between this hotel and some others I stayed at in Opatija which were 4* and cheaper.

Fantastic staff, very beautiful lobby, great size of the room, very good balcony, even park side had a view of the sea from the top levels. Breakfast and dinners are good, in the past was more rich, but now is still ok. Swimming pool is very warm and reasonably deep, private beach is very nice, service overall is fantastic.

No modern(separate) shower in the room, I understand that 5* hotel needs to have bathtub, but for most of people nowadays it is no used, while taking a shower inside the bathtub is not comfortable. Also the light in the bathroom is too warm, while needs to be more white specter and much more powerful Also from safety reasons I would suggest at the private beach, left side to move away a huge stone, which in the morning is slightly visible, but afternoon when water comes, almost invisible, people can jump and get very serious issues.

Besides the things i didn't like everything else was amazing!

Issues with parking: when we came there wasn't enough space for us in the hotel garage so we parked on the street and paid for the whole day parking. We talked to the staff and they told us to come the next morning that there will be available spots. When we got to the reception in the morning they told us , "Sorry no space for you, but you can park down the street ( Around 500-600m ) in a public garage, while for other guests the staff parked their cars and brought it back for them. We had to walk also on our last day, in the heat with luggage to the garage while for others it was all brought and packed for them. Besides that and a few other really minor things, it was a great trip!

Small things, but very logical adding together a bright picture: - food variety is great and it was always refilled - staff was extremly open and kind - spa/pool services all around - cleanliness in the hotel areas - big spaces in the restaurant, lobby - soundproofing was OK - location is the best in Opatija +1: in the past 6 consequitive hotel nights I couldn't barely sleep and here finally I could. Maybe the sound of the sea :)

- you will always get smoke in your balcony, even in offseason - difficult parking in the garage, max height 1.8 meter (no SUVs allowed) - but you will be informed in advance of your options - rooms are a bit worn out (broken soap tray, some painting issues) - cleaniness in the room was a bit questionable (dirty coffee mug, dusty bedside table)
