This is an hotel in the "old style", with its own interesting story. Unfortunately, these types of traditional hotels are fast disappearing and becoming expensive "boutique hotels". The staff was very helpful, particularly the receptionist, who gave us a bit of the hotel's history. She was also very understanding when I realized I had made a booking error. The reception is open 24 hours. The hotel is a 5-minuit walk from Hauptbahnhof. The immediately area is not great but didn't feel particularly dangerous. Just the usual train station "flora and fauna". Kaiserstrasse, with numerous restaurants is a less than 5 minutes walk and it's a 10 minute walk to the Städel and Liebighaus. There are trams, busses, and U-bahn. The rooms were clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. There are a few English-language TV stations (BBC, CNN, Al-J) but no French-language stations. We would definitely come back on our next visit to Frankfurt.

The lift is out of order. We learned that the hotel was built in 1892, they no longer make the spare parts. It's possible to leave heavy suitcases at the reception.

No tv and no elevator. Also in booking.com it says the price in dollars but was charged in euros. Why not just publish the hotel room price in euros to avoid explanation and argument?

location is very easy to find. Very near Frankfurt Hbf. Many Shops around it. Staff is very friendly, room is clean and big.

Elevator not functioning, we need to leave our Big Luggages at the Reception (we were just in Transit overnight stay). But Overall it was a nice hotel. Only the elevator was not working..

The room was spacious and clean, bed comfy, breakfast included was good. Nice people.

The area is not very safe, being around Frankfurt HBF but the location is very central, so easy to get around. The room gets quite hot during summer, and there is no AC.

Friendly staff, Good sized rooms with fridge, twin beds very comfortable, back of the hotel so limited noise, very convenient to train station and river for a run along the water in the morning.

Didn't realise there was no air-conditioning so on the few hot days we were there it was a bit uncomfortable at night but not unbearable.

Location extremely handy for Irish bar and train station. Not the nicest area, but wasn’t a problem. Surprisingly nice inside and helpful staff.

Area is a bit rough but wasn’t an issue. Mini fridge had previous guest’s leftover McDonalds in but staff were helpful and cleaned upon request. No other issues at all.

Great location, close to Frankfurt main train station Don't let the exterior fool you. it's nice on the inside. Great value as well. We stayed 3 nights. The Indian restaurant next door is very good! Great front desk staff.

No air-conditioning, with windows open room cooled down at night. The average temp for our stay was 72 F.

Bed pillow n cover v.g. Kleenex n soap ok. The best is having the towel warmer/heater n was able to wash specially my socks. Location is excellent.

Elevator broken. Stairs was a hassle. Could not open window bec of the smell of chemicals fr renovating bldg next door.

First impressions outside were doubtful but once we were inside and could appreciate the building and our room we were very pleased . We had dinner there and were very pleased with the selection of food, which was very quickly served , very tasty . Such a disappointment it was not more used. We needed more pillows and they were soon brought to the room.

We booked into the “Centro hotel “ but had problems finding it as the name “National “was more evident. I could not understand when on our first morning I heard the reception gentleman turn people away saying there were no vacancies yet the dining room gentleman said there were only approx 25 rooms occupied. Why were the prospective clients turned away??

Being about 100 meters away from the main train station in Frankfurt made this the ideal place to stay. Lots of space in the room.

The lift was broken.
