Quite a unique hotel, it was like staying at the museum, overall very positive impression - don’t pay to much attention to improvement points :)

Not much to complain about- a few minor observations: 1. For a 5-star hotel some renovation is needed here and there 2. A bit odd having to additionally ask for a bathrobe 3. At breakfast having to take a cup from the table where you are seated to go to another room to pour tea or coffee 4. Sauna was slightly warm and hammam not working in spite of reception convincing us all was on

A unique, beautiful and comfortable hotel stay. The staff were lovely but in the process of being trained, most with very little English (apparently there had been a full sweep of staff changes so most were new). This noticeably affected the speed of service, but if you like a leisurely pace of life it's for you! The managers were experienced and friendly but not always visible/present. We had amended out booking on booking.com a few weeks before and their system hadn't synced so there was a misunderstanding when we first arrived, bit of a shame. The food was exquisite, seriously one of the best breakfasts and dinners I've had! Big shout out to Sidney who could not have done more for us to make our stay so lovely!

No sockets near bed or on the desk No socket in the bathroom. Receptionist told us it was forbidden in Portugal, but we had a socket in the bathroom in every other Portuguese hotel. The white furniture in the room looked quite cheap and awful. The classic chairs in the lounge were tired looking and uncomfortable. We found it very strange to see the reception in the chapel, while there seemed to be a much better reception area which was used for Roman artifacts from a museum. Large bedrooms with no atmosphere and dated design.

I like that the hotel is small and away from the touristy bit of the Algarve.

My only warning is that the weddings can be a bit of an inconvenience. There were three when I was there. The first two - Liverpool and then Irish - were fine. The last one was a very large group of Flemish speaking Belgians. They were incredibly loud and spent the time around the pool shouting at each other. Left pool towels and glasses strewn all over the place. Not relaxing at all when they were there and they were there for three days. I get that the weddings are good business but .......

The hotel was very unique with a mix of new and old. Our hotel room was a good size with much needed air con. The breakfast was a mix of different foods to match the tastes of all the guests from different countries. The swimming pool had a beautiful view, particularly sun set. Each sun bed had a fresh towel and a parasol.

Beautiful hotel with lots of character. Bedrooms were large clean and modern with very private balconies, the reception rooms are exquisite. Breakfast was super- plenty of variety and delicious. We ate dinner twice and it was very good. The service was great and we had great fun with the staff who were friendly and very good at their jobs. The location was rural and quiet- far from the madding crowd but within easy access of the coast. We’ll definitely return. I would recommend a car.

This is a fantastic ex-palace. The reception and main rooms are exquisite. You can use any of the main rooms any time, although the chairs being in keeping with the period are not that comfortable LOL. Great ambience. Excellent pool (getting a pool towel on the other hand more of a challenge!). Basic gym. Outstanding breakfast. Easy parking. Excellent staff. We loved our stay here (we stayed in a superior view room on the 2nd floor, with a terrace looking down to Faro (and a lot of grass). Yes, the building is VERY OLD which means that in a few places the paint is peeling etc. There was also some refurbishment work done in the reception (old chapel ) while we were there. This did nothing to detract from my enjoyment but if you worry about that sort of thing, don't stay.

View from terrace is good, but the grass gets in the way a bit. Getting a pool towel was a challenge - apparently I should have told them that I wanted the one in the room replaced after it was taken away (seriously? some people stay for a week and don't want it replaced??????).

They aren't joking when they call it a palacio! Stunning building, beautiful gardens, plenty of breakfast choices and lovely staff. Perfect for a quiet weekend away and just 20 minutes drive from the airport.

There is very little in Estoi village so if you want to eat out or go for drinks you will need to go to Faro or one of the adjoining towns. Overall the quality of the hotel was good, although it was a touch shabby in places (didn't affect our stay in the slightest). Perfect for a quiet weekend but if you're staying for longer than that or looking for vibrant nightlife then this probably isn't the place for you.

Venue and grounds were idyllic

Sadly Service at dinner was poor, several times they tried to take wrong meal to table even after being told it was incorrect - 3 different waitress’/waiters attempted this, plus it was late in the evening. Rooms didn’t live up to rest of venue and are a little overpriced. Not very attentive after having first drink. Were also late opening doors for breakfast knowing people had an early flight to catch.

Booked this hotel as a special treat and it did not disappoint. Beautiful location, great facilities, superb food. The check-in was very pleasant and the staff super helpful. The grounds are worth a look and a walk if you have time, and a stroll into the small town of Estoi is advised. The hotel is situated in a reasonably rural setting so a car is a must.

The water in the indoor pool was slightly colder than expected, but otherwise the facilities were amazing.
