Route guide to location, access and arrival, reception staff, car parking, restaurant, food and service staff all excellent. Assistance from reception staff member in recovering a lost possesion left in a taxi hours earlier was outstanding - very grateful to them and very impressed with their investigative skills and cooperative detective work - item returned by the taxi owner within twenty minutes! Alhambra tour guide turned up on time and delivered a tour de force - really excellent and professional historical tour.

Room too small, adjoining room door not sound proof and with other noisy and inconsiderate guests not entirely peaceful. Not enough waiters or service staff at mealtimes - no reception, all run off their feet and orders sometimes late and out of sequence or simply forgotten. Food selection not replenished, eg milk. Cafe gave precedence to guests but not if you weren't intending to have a full lunch and only wanted to have a coffee and a pastry which didn't seem quite polite.

Incredible building & location, superbly comfrortable aircon room, good shower. Food and wine on the terrace were excellent and good value.

Minor point. We didn't come down to breakfast until about 10am and there were no staff and it felt a little unwelcoming. (Breakfast stops at 11am) Someone did appear and bring coffee, but then concentrated on clearing tables around us etc...she didn't ask if we wanted anything cooked, more coffee etc. Luckily we didn't, we just helped ourselves from the buffet, but we felt we were just in the way. Go a lot earlier if you want a full breakfast and be prepared to grab some attention!

One of the most enjoyable hotel experiences in my life. Getting to sleep in the former Monastery of San Francisco, inside the historical Alhambra site, is a once in a lifetime experience. The staff at the front desk welcome you with a wealth of knowledge. The rooms are clean and offer amazing views of the gardens. Even more exciting than the spectacular breakfast, is having dinner on the restaurant terrace. Enjoying the four-course Halal dinner celebrating the cuisine of the Nasrid Kingdom, for just 39 Euros, while watching the sun go down over the Generalife Gardens, is one of my most memorable experiences from my recent trip to Spain and definitely the best meal, although the Cochinillo at Jose Maria in Segovia comes in at a close second for quality of food, but nothing beats the view of the Generalife Gardens. Although some people may flinch at the price, initially, once you realize how much you get out of the experience there is no denying that it trumps the other lodging possibilities in Grenada. It's comfortable, historical, and a memory making treat to sleep here.

Stepping into the bath, which is a bit high, would be facilitated by installing a grip bar to help prevent slipping. The opening to the toilet area of the bathroom is a bit tight since it entails two glass panels that are not moveable.

We had just a little trouble getting to the Parador but the hotel sent extremely detailed instructions that were helpful. The room had a lovely view of the Generalife gardens and the property was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed in. Yes, it’s pricey and breakfast and parking are extra but it is a once in a lifetime experience.

It seems like the Parador outdoor include a few bottles of free water in the mini bar. I did feel like I was getting itemized at checkout. The setup for touring the Alhambra and what to expect was also not very clear and led to us missing part of the tour. Not the Paradors fault, but just a long way to come to miss part of the Palaces.

With the hotel virtually being attached to the Alhambra Palace, the location was excellent if that was where you wanted to spend your time. You could walk down to the town centro in 10-15 mins via the walkway adjacent to the Puerta de la Justica, but as it would be all uphill, it is best to get a taxi back for approx 5-6 Euros. The hotel was very well kept and had lots of character, and at night it was very quiet and dark, allowing a great night's sleep. The ensuite bathroom was large and very well appointed The continental breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice. We didn't use the restaurant in the evenings, so we can not really comment, but based on the breakfast, we would expect the food to be very good.

As we were here in January and it was not overly warm, the fact that there was no swimming pool didn't really affect us, but during the summer months, I think it would be really useful. We also thought that the bar area (in the same position as where breakfast was served) could have probably been better positioned to improve the atmosphere/ambience, as it currently feels soulless. This was also not helped as during the daytime, the outside balcony area was closed due to renovation works, but it would help when it is open in the summer months. We felt that the seating area with the TV, above the bar area, would have made a better bar area, except for the fact that there is no view, but would have more atmosphere.

The Parador's location, within the Alhambra complex allowed us to make the most of our short break as we could easily access the various parts of the Alhambra as soon as they opened. We bought our Alhambra visitor tickets from the official site (search for "Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife"), well in advance so that we could plan our day around our timed slot in the Nasrid Palace complex. It was also very atmospheric at night; no other tourists or distractions, just us, the odd security guard and the various buildings & palaces. It was also relatively easy to walk to other interesting areas; The Albaicin (gypsy quarter), Sacromonte (Cave dwellings & museum), both needing good legs due to the hills involved, and the old city and its cathedral & interesting shops, bars & restaurants (an easy walk down, a steep uphill slog to get back). We took some evening meals in the Parador's main restaurant and in the bar area. Both were perfectly good and reasonably good value, considering the location. All the staff from front of house to the restaurant to the cleaners were friendly and professional. We travelled in December and the amount of daylight, the day/night temperatures and the relative lack of tourists was a real bonus. I have also been to Granada/Alhambra in the summer and I wouldn't do that again!

We had a standard room, ground floor, which was a bit on the small side and lacking in storage, though it was fine for our short break. The Parador's bar does not have much ambience. On-site parking is €31 per day and once the car is parked, it's there for the duration of your stay.

Excellent location and facilities

We were eating in their outdoor restaurant one night, arrived 30mins early to have a pre-dinner drink to be told by a waiter that all of their tables for drinks were occupied (whether residents or not I did not know) while the tables for dinner were being prepared, we persevered and were told that we could have our pre-dinner drink in the breakfast area - twenty empty tables in a virtually unlit room. At these prices I expect well trained/managed staff who are able to provide a solution. As it was I ordered our drinks and walked down to the gardens, why could the waiter not have come up with that solution ??

The hotel was beautiful and we enjoyed it. The room was quiet and clean. Beds were comfortable. The location was terrific. The staff were helpful (except for check in, see below).

The confusion at reception about our triple room....blaming booking.com for your inconsistencies in room rates. It would have been a lot more gracious to just let it go, rather than arguing with us at check in. The breakfast area could have been a bit more elegant. The staff could have moved our car away from the bird droppings, since they had the ability since they took our key.

The grounds are beautiful, however some of the gardens were closed due to renovation. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast offering has a good range of food choices for all. Dinner in the restaurant offers beautiful views and food was delicious!

Bathrooms need updated - (tall soaking tubs could be converted to showers) floors squeaked badly I felt sorry for the people below me.

Liked the location although I note that there was at least 1 other hotel within the vicinity of the Alhambra, so the Parador isn't the only one BUT the views from the Parador (from the bedrooms & from the outdoor terrace) are fantastic. Good size bedrooms, satisfactory amenities, nice bathroom with bidet directly opposite the toilet (I usually note them aligned side by side in other places), lovely building & outside garden, a tranquil place to enjoy the sights. A one night splurge to be close to the Alhambra was good.

1) Minor, but I couldn't pay for my room with cash because we booked 2 rooms (my friend's room & mine) so there was just 1 bill, and even when our separate charges were below 1,000 EUR but because the total bill was over 1,000 EUR, I had to use my credit card to pay. 2) Breakfast was very "so so". The hot "to order" breakfast choices weren't good, they certainly were NOT made to order, more like they were already made & in the kitchen waiting to be served - my Spanish omelette was hard & cold, I expected more from the Parador.
