The bed was comfy and the staff were very welcoming and nice! They have a really diverse menu with good food, i recommend al hambra for your luxor stay, the location is close to the nile so you can hop back and forth between the 2 sides of luxor by boat

A cosy lobby where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast. From the rooftop lounge you can see the night illuminated Valley of the Kings and the east bank Luxor city as well. Very kind and helpful but not intrusive staff! They always had a kind word for us, they helped us and gave us advice. Cheers guys! The location is very good, we walked home from the Memnon Colossus at sunset (35 min). By car the Valley of the Kings is 10 min. The Nile, where you can take a small ferry (1-2 USD/person) to the east coast is 6-7 min walk.

The room was not in the best condition. It was clean but the walls could do with a paint job and the fridge was very old and worn. The bed was the old spring type which would be nice but due to its age I could feel the few springs in the back. But most importantly: the elevator beep is maddening! Ding-dong... ding-dong... You can't sleep, you can't rest! Team: turn off the speaker, I beg you!

There was lots to like about the Al Hambra hotel. First of all, the lovely outdoor restaurant which you walk through when first entering the hotel. The hotel serves a traditional Egyptian breakfast but also offers a good range of dishes that can be ordered throughout the day. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is excellent. We didn’t find out the chef’s name but we nicknamed him Blue Eyes for obvious reasons! Next, we were not expecting a fabulous rooftop space, but that’s what we found. There is a large seating and eating area under a canopy so that it can be enjoyed during the day, but if you’re staying in this hotel, chances are you will be out exploring the temples and tombs to be found locally. But the roof terrace is a lovely place to visit in the evening. The views are amazing! We found the hotel manager, Muhammad, to be friendly and helpful. I’ve read damning reports about the management at this hotel but that appears to be in the past. Muhammad started work there 2-3 months ago and his behaviour was impeccable. He speaks very good English, as do other members of staff, and was very willing to help us find activities to suit our interests. We found our room to be clean and spacious and totally adequate, although I wouldn’t claim it to be luxurious. But for around £28 per night, it was what I was hoping for. The River Nile is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and if you turn left at the promenade you can enjoy a quiet stroll along the river bank unhindered by people trying to sell you stuff! There are lots of benches to sit on and enjoy the view of the river and the many boats moored along the river’s edge. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a small library of reading books in English at the hotel which I made full use of. All in all, my husband I both loved our stay at this hotel.

I can honestly say there wasn’t anything I disliked about the Al Hambra. I think that if you are paying for a budget hotel like this you have to have realistic expectations. It wasn’t luxurious and there were some rough edges, like we had to ask for towels and a hairdryer. But when in Egypt, do as the Egyptians do!! The shower head left something to be desired as the water came out in a lump, but I sneaked into an empty neighbouring room and swapped ours with the one from there and all was well! The shower had just a curtain around it and water leaked all over the bathroom floor. These were all small inconveniences but not awful enough to spoil our stay.

Value for money, the location, the rooms (just perfect for a few nights stay), very clean, staff very friendly, the terrace on the roof ( they have 2 floors of terrace). I usually am very aware of where I book my hotels, and they need to be very clean as I have allergies to dirty sheets, hair bits, and dust. First, when i booked this hotel, I thought it was because the price would not be for me, I my mind, I was already looking to book somewhere else, but when we got to the property and entered the gate the felling changed. What can I say, I recommend this property, and if you have any specific requirements, don't hesitate to speak with the staff. They have a lot of options for rooms, in case you need something specific.

The hotel was under refurbishment when we arrived, the manager upgraded our room to a small vila in the village. The service was the best among all the hotel we lived during the trip. when we arrived, the manager offered us cold drinks first, which was really considerate. The vila is in another location, but the hotel manager arranged staffs to come and cook breakfast for us. The breakfast was super good, even better than what you get from the restaurant. The day when we leave the hotel, the manager also arranged a transfer service. Many businesses in Egypt only want to get more money from your pocket. But this hotel, I felt that the manager put all his attention on making the guests more comfortable.

Nothing.

A quite big hotel in the West bank. Rooms are pleasant and comfortable, with all the essential, very clean and tidy. The hotel has a lift which is unusual for the West bank, so it's a good choice for people with reduced mobility!! But with no doubt, the best in this hotel, is the roof terrace, the highest of all the hotels nearby and with 360° panoramic views from Luxor, the Nile and all West bank!!! Good location & excellent breakfast!!! Very friendly staff!! Having breakfast at the roof terrace is priceless!!!

The hotel itself was my favorite of the 3 I stayed in during my Egypt trip. The owner and staff were beyond welcoming—I was taken on a personal tour of the area by the owner, including hearing stories about his family's life in the area over generations and having what I think were freshly picked olives from a tree we passed. He warned me about common local scams, recommended what's worth seeing, and personally walked me to the ferry so that I reach it without getting harassed away by motorboat/felucca owners. He was always ready to help, including when an excursion canceled on me last-minute, and checked in on how I'm doing throughout my stay. The majestic courtyard from the photos really is as great as it looks, and it was pleasantly cool sitting there for a post-breakfast coffee. Speaking of breakfast, it’s the best of classic Egyptian: 2 falafel (deliciously moist!), a small portion of foul (slow-cooked beans), cream cheese, sliced tomato and cucumber, Egyptian bread, and a 2-3 egg omelette, as well as pre-packed jam and honey. You’d get a pitcher of hot water, and can make however much coffee or tea you desire. Everything was “plated to order”, and I was always too full to finish all of it. I still dream of their falafel & foul today. I enjoyed breakfast indoors and in the courtyard, but I’m sure you could also take it up to the roof terrace for a great view over the town & Nile—I simply didn’t feel like climbing all those stairs first thing in the morning, but did head up there some evenings for nighttime views, and once at sunrise to watch the hot air balloons parade across. Re: location - the West Bank is a calmer spot than the East, but with only a 10-15min walk to the ferry thru mostly unpaved, but very comfortable streets, I'm very glad I chose it. Beware of a donkey one street over, by the stables: he started yelling from the shadows as I passed by my first night there and nearly gave me a heart attack!

The room was enough space for a solo traveler for a few nights, but I could see a couple struggling to fit open suitcases and themselves in without having to walk across the bed, at least in the room I had.

Nice hotel with a stunning views from terrace. Chef in hotel restaurant cooks quite well, I recommend to dine in hotel. The room was dark which is probably good for the summer season. Location is good. From terrace you can see Nile with Luxor temple and baloons on the sunrise. From the hotel you have easy access and cheap taxi to all the valley sightseeings.

Internet was on and off, dark room with bad lighting. Plants near the fountain have to be cleaned and watered, please.

Exceptional value for the money. The breakfast alone is worth it for the whole family. The owner personally looks after his guests and provides help and valuable tips. Dinner is tasty and not expensive. The courtyard is beautiful.

It is cold in winter, but heater is provided on request. Furniture is not new, but definitely good value for money.

The hotel staff was genuinely interested in with my safety in the city and they helped me to organize my traveling inside Egypt. From day 1 till I leave, they offered their help to me and they were very helpful. I appreciate them. Mr. Makarious was a great host.

Near hotel area and generally in Luxor, locals sometimes make it difficult to just walk around city, they offer to sell you something a lot unfortunately but it's not hotel's fault.
