Located close to two major museums and a Metro stop.

Smallish room but manageable. Had a lot of trouble getting the AC thermostat fixed. Took two days for the maintenance person to take my request seriously. He would start it and then leave the room immediately whereupon it turned off.

For some minus points the location made it more than all good! it was right in the middle of everything and it could not have been better, we did everything walking and this location made it happen

The overall intense smell throughout the hotel was more like a smell to cover up a bad smell instead of the freshness of a just cleaned room or area, the rooms have a design as time stood still in the nineties and for my personal likes it could use a real fresh up in style

The location is superb and it’s my favourite place to stay in Madrid as it’s super easy to access the best attractions and parts of town by foot. The staff is excellent and very welcoming.

The bathroom of the room I was staying in could use a bit of a refresh, the shower area specifically. There was also not enough hangers for towels and surfaces to keep things on.

Incredible location, decent room sizes, and good breakfast. The rooftop deck was by far the best part of the stay, as it gave us a place to rest between day time activities and dinner.

Our room was initially facing the Main Street, and was incredibly loud at night time with traffic and drunken people shouting until 2-3am - even though our stay was during colder October nights. However the staff were able to move us to a quieter room for the second half of our stay, once another one opened up. This new room was perfect, so I would recommend that this is clearly stated in your room booking before you confirm.

Staff was incredible super friendly very patient and accommodating. Central super easy to get around everywhere They provide different moisturiser and shampoos

The property was good, central location! Plumbing needs looking as each shower didn’t drain quickly or properly A lot of onlyfans content creators “working” a lot it gives property somewhere dirty association I couldn’t work out how the wall purple illuminating light turns off so I had it on Bed is on wheelz Pool is open but not heated in winter, I imagine summer time is the place to be!

We had the most wonderful experience celebrating our wedding anniversary! From the moment we arrived, the customer service was absolutely outstanding. The staff went above and beyond, calling us as soon as we got to our room to ensure everything was perfect. To top it off, we were greeted with the most thoughtful touch—a beautiful rose, a handwritten card, and a bottle of wine to celebrate our special day. It made our anniversary even more memorable and showed how much the staff cares about making guests feel welcome and appreciated. We also had carefully crafted cocktails at the Skybar, paired with outstanding service and attention from Fran. Fran ensured the cocktails were made to our exact expectations, making the experience even more memorable. The room itself was everything you could hope for—elegant, cozy, and comfortable, with every detail thoughtfully curated. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next stay in Madrid. Highly recommend!

Axel Hotel Madrid is centrally located, one can walk anywhere in the old part of town (Madrid de los Austrias) and it's a stone's throw away from the Museum Area (Triángulo del Arte), just up Atocha street from Museo Reina Sofia (MNCARS) and Atocha High Speed Train station. Plaza de Santa Ana, Plaza del Ángel and Huertas Street, all known for being a tapas area are literally behind the hotel. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. We arrived before check-in time and they made sure there was a room ready for us. The room was spotless.

The last night, being a Saturday, we could hear doors being banged and party noise from upstairs at 2-3 am.. That was the only problem we faced.

Love the general vibe and feel of all the Axel properties and this one was no exception. Super friendly team and they even left me a cute birthday note and treats ☺️

I think my only couple downsides about my stay were: 1) The hairdryer didn’t ever get hot, meaning your hair was just being blown by cold air 2) There wasn’t anywhere to put belongings in the pool area, with the weather recently just meant it was quite hard to use the facilities and not have your belongings soaked. Super minor points though and doesn’t take away from the great stay or team

The staff was very friendly. The room was big and very adult oriented with mood lighting etc. Didn't hear anything from other rooms. There's a bar on the top floor with a smallish swimming pool that I think was warm even on the days of our stay, but we didn't try it. Location is very good with lots of restaurants, shops and the Puerta del Sol near by.

Probably not for families as it is adult only. I think there was room service available, but we didn't try it. But I don't think you can get breakfast other than room service(?) Anyway, there are a lot of good cafes near by.

Very comfortable bed, nice room temperature, great room decor, loved the very comfy room slippers and the fact they provided a dental kit (finally!!!). The staff was fantastic and very helpful, had an issue and they were very understanding. Would definitely stay there again! The breakfast was also good and great value for money!

Leaving it. Maybe they should also E-mail clients about the fact the rooftop is closed for the long term. But I would choose this hotel even without pool or rooftop bar
