We recently stayed at Hostal Atocha Almudena Martín and had an excellent experience, worth every penny. Nestled right in the heart of Madrid on Calle Atocha, it's just a 2‑minute walk to Antón Martín Metro (Line 1) and under 10 minutes from Atocha train station, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol. Surrounded by cafes, restaurants, theaters, and museums like the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen. Our room had a comfortable bed, air conditioning, private bathroom, mini-fridge, TV, hairdryer, safe, kettle, and complimentary coffee and tea everyday. Best of all, the room felt quiet, with soundproofing that let we rest well after long days exploring.

Things I liked about Hostal Atocha: 1) AMAZING location - The hotel is minutes away from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. You can even walk to El Retiro Park. Even better is that the Anton Martin metro station is just steps away so if you don't want to walk or need to get someplace further away, you can hop on the Metro. There's also buses that run along Calle de Atocha and from there figure out where you need to go. 2) Friendly staff who addressed my questions and requests right away - Luis helped answer my questions about the Metro's running hours, taxis, and ride share services. He was nice and friendly. On a different evening, I talked to a lady at reception about the lightbulbs in my room that needed replacing. The lady made sure the lightbulbs were replaced the next day. When I came back to my room in the evening after exploring for the day, the bulbs were changed and they made a difference! 3) Room was clean - The bed sheets and pillows were clean. The bathroom was also clean when I checked after first entering. 4) Wardrobe with some hangers plus fridge - Nice to have so I can hang some of my clothes instead of keeping them in my luggage the entire time. The fridge was great to have. Kept my juices and bottles of water cool. I had a package of store-bought Jamon Iberico that I couldn't finish, so thank goodness I had a fridge to store it! 5) Everyday housekeeping would make my bed and empty the trash bin in the bathroom. This was nice of them!

The walls were thin so I can hear some of my neighbours while they were talking and I'm sure they were able to hear me. Luckily, people stopped talking in the evening during sleeping hours. For some reason the WI-FI signal and cell reception in my room were terrible. I had one bar (lucky to have two bars) of reception and one to two bars of WI-FI strength while sitting at the headboard part of my bed. I was able to get stronger signal moving closer to the door or to the foot of my bed. The poor signal was annoying. I told reception about this and the person couldn't figure out why since the router was in the same hall as my room. Not sure if I would have had the same experience in a different room, but this is what I experienced in the room I had.

I had a fantastic stay at Hostal Atocha Almudena Martín! The location is unbeatable—close to everything you’d want to see in Madrid, with easy access to public transportation. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and provided a great value. What truly stood out was the warm and helpful staff. They were always available to answer questions, provide recommendations, and ensure I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. The atmosphere was welcoming, and I felt at home throughout my time there. I’d highly recommend Hostal Atocha Almudena Martín to anyone looking for a friendly, comfortable, and conveniently located place to stay in Madrid!

Firstly the staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to leave my luggage at the reception for free until check in time. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Blockout blinds for the window so you could control the light. `the temperature was comfortable - did not need heating or cooling. I had a private bathroom - the hot water in the shower was instant. There was a kettle - coffee/tea/milk/cookies provided daily if needed, and a fridge. A very comfortable and happy stay!

Not a complaint - just warnings : the bath tub was a bit high so just need to be careful getting in and out. Nothing to do with the hostal but the lift was small so be waned if you do not like confined spaces! :)

The hotel was located in a lively area with lots of shops and restaurants around. Close to the metro stop Anton Martin and Sol. Easy access to the hotel, there is a lift and the staff was friendly. After check out I could leave my luggage for some hours.

My room was quiet far at the back, however, it wasn’t a problem for me because it was quiet, away from the Main Street.

rooms very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Room kept spotlessly cleaned every day. One of the few hostals to provide a kettle with complementary tea, coffee and biscuits. Excellent location only a few minutes walk from Plaza Santa Ana and Plaza del Sol and just a couple of metro stops to Atocha railway station. Lots of cafe bars and restaurants nearby.

No dislikes. I have stayed there several times and know what to expect.

I am usually put off by the description of 'Hostel' because it brings to mind thoughts of sharing space in dormitories but this was exceptional, the individual room although not huge was big enough for a decent sized double bed and was very clean, with a fridge, safe and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very small but very clean. The location of the 'hostel' was superb, just a stone's throw from Plaza Mayor etc. The staff at the hostel were all very friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely return.

The bathroom was a little small and as I'm a big chap it made it difficult for me to manoeuvre. The 'hostel' could have done with a dining room space for breakfast but there are lots of places nearby so it didn't really present a problem.

Great, great location. Very nice front desk reception. Room was really exactly what I wanted. Loved the ability to make coffee in my room with the coffee maker provided.

Everything about this accommodation meets my needs. I have stayed here at least 4 times in the past 2 years and really love the location. I hope to stay here again on my next visit to Madrid.

Great location, very clean room, with everything you need, from air conditioning to refrigerator and cofee facilities, 5 minutes walk to Plaza Mayor, 15 minutes from Atocha station, with a lot of shops and restaurants around. You can leave the luggage after check out, which was great for us, because our flight was in the evening. Definitely to remember if we come back to Madrid.

The room is rather small and can be noisy, as you stay on a mainroad, and if you have neighbours that slam the door whenever they come, but these were minor things for us and not the fault of the hostal. Just for others to be advised!

Excellent location; own bathroom; very polite personnel; clean rooms; good wi-fi; available refrigerator; good joinery that provides sufficient isolation from the external noise; lift in the building.

Small-sized room, yet common for the hostels as a whole; a bit uncomfortable pillows.
