Location, location!!! Hotel New Hankyu Kyoto is right in the center of Kyoto. Perfect 10/10 for us. Perfect home base to explore Kyoto. Just in front of the Kyoto Station (train & bus) so its accessible to all modes of transportation. Everything we need from food to shopping is just around it such as Porta (underground mall), JR Isetan, Tashiyama, Yodobashi Kyoto,etc. Staff are very hospitable and kind. There's unlimited supply of tea & coffee at the front desk. Toiletries are readily available. Glad they do daily cleaning. Room space is the standard size in Japan. We were placed in a room with a nice view of Kyoto Station. We were not able to taste their buffet breakfast since we opted to eat out, so I gave it a 9. Otherwise, we were very much satisfied with our stay. Highly recommended hotel. We will book here again next time.

This hotel provides everything you need from a hotel. The room is quite spacious (it allowed space to open two 24" suitcases and two 20" suitcases while still giving you room to move about). The bathroom is also spacious. The best thing about this hotel is the location. You can literally look at Kyoto Station from your room. There's a direct access to Kyoto Bus Station and JR Line just in front of the hotel, there's Lawson just across the road. All in all, it's super great!

The front desk staff was a bit rude. Throughout my check-in, they kept talking to each other in Japanese and chuckling among themselves. They were openly laughing after checking us in. While it was possible they're not talking about us, it's highly rude for a front desk to do so (and I would know, my sister is a front-liner too! It's just basic manner).

It was spotless and super clean - this is always the most important criteria for me. The beds and especially the tatami style kids bed were very comfortable. (We like firm beds) The location is unbeatable if you plan to have many day trips while in Kyoto and plan to take public transportation- Kyoto station (JR including Haruka express, subway, buses, taxi) is just across the street. just as an example we went to Arashiyama(30 mins), Nara (under an hour), Fushimi Inari Tori gates (15 mins), nijo castle (15 mins) and could have easily made day trips further to Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, and even Hiroshima if we wanted to take advantage of the shinkansen 🚄 it is a key factor that the hotel is located north of the station walking through the nice porta with food and shopping options without having to get wet on rainy days from station to hotel, with Isetan above the porta to its south and more shopping malls and the beautiful Higashi Hongan-ji in the north (we had a view of the temple straight from our window!), and kyoto tower to its east. While there’s no lack of food options around, It’s always nice to have multiple options right at the hotel when you’re too tired to walk after a long day or just want to eat before heading out for your daily quests. Both the buffet and kyoto kaiseki style breakfast were very pleasant!

These are very minor nit pickings, but things they can improve on: 1. Only 1 key (physical key) to hotel room- given we are 3 ppl each getting a key card would make the experience even more seamless 2. Not a lot of space /luggage rack to layout your suitcase- again because we are 3 in a room with 3 carryons 3. Elevators can be a long wait at rush hour 4. The staff may not be the most fluent in English (perhaps we were at a more business hotel) but they did their best to help us address our questions. However none of these would prevent us from choosing to stay at this hotel again.

Location just opposite Kyoto Station is good, transport by train, subway and bus is easy There are plenty of different eateries, shops ,Isetan Department Store and Aeon Mall are close by

The location is wonderful, very close to the JR station and sightseeing bus stops, easy and friendly to the first time tourists to Kyoto. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, Special thanks to Mr. Asakura, who helped to find the emergency hospital for my daughter when she broke her teeth by accident, very responsible and helpful!

The room space is limited, maybe that's the standard for Japan hotels, but basically you don't have too much space if not lying on the bed. The sheet on the bed was not clean at the first night, we had to replace with a new one. But it didn't happen in the following days.

Hotel breakfast is too expensive, so decided to breakfast at cafe across the street.

We stayed 4 nights 5 days, so our hotel was to completely clean our room after the 3rd night. So, what a DISAPPOINTMENT after returning the evening of the 4th day to discover our room just as we left It that morning: the waste basket full of trash, the beds unmade, wet towels left in the bathtub. I agree and cooperate with helping to save nature and the earth, but the hotel should keep their promise to their PAYING guests. It was unfortunate that the communication between the hotel’s management and cleaning staff was poor. Also, the wash cloth in the bathroom is too small for use, therefore meaningless even with the effort to conserve costs and nature.

It was well designed and Immaculately clean with plenty of power points. A powerful shower that worked well. Japanese mattresses are great to sleep on. The body wash, shampoo and conditioner were in bottles that you could easily read the labels. They gave us nightgowns (pictured) and all sorts of bits and pieces to use. (Manufacturers unfortunately have silly little labelling on bottles that some can’t read without glasses on). There’s a a good breakfast (2,400 yen), Being opposite the train station and the Post Office it’s a convenient location.

There were six men in Room 513 and they made a lot of noise. In my nightgown I told them to keep quiet! We needed to go to the bus station that was in the other side of the station. The staff gave us long instructions and we walked on the roads and stairs circling the railway for 45 mins without finding it. Ending up where we started we caught a cab but by then we had held the tour up. We should have been told to walk straight through the station to the back! Many tourists catch day tour buses.

Hotel was very nice, clean with all the amenities we might need. A five minute walk from Kyoto Station as well as a Lawson's convenience store. Air conditioning worked well. The three beds in the room made quarters a little tight, but it was manageable. We loved all the eating options in and around Kyoto Station, some of the best food we had in Japan.

Really, everything was good, can't find much to complain about. Like I said above, the three beds didn't leave much floor space for much else in the room, but that's pretty much the norm for Japan.

Excellent location across the street from the Kyoto Train station. We were traveling with our two young adult children. We were able to stay together in one room that had 4 big beds, a full-sized bathroom with separate sink and tub faucets, and an additional sink and big counter outside the bathroom. All advertised amenities were provided.

The hotel furnishings are showing their age and look old/worn. My sinuses seemed to be a bit bothered. I could feel the springs in the mattress. However, for the price, size of room, and location, we were happy.

Great place especially when you have huge luggage as it’s directly in front of the station. Clean place and the staff was making the beds and cleaning the place every day so it was nice to see the room like new every evening. A big window that gives the view of the whole station and the street, Great morning and night views at least in our room. Beds were very comfortable too. Good place for 3-4 people.

Very darkish room, Could use some white LED lights, At least one, for some brightness especially in night. Room was kinda small for big luggage considering it was a family room so you expect some free space for luggage. Also not really a fan of Attached Toilet and bath (kinda our fault lol, Should’ve checked) but the exhaust was also not working properly so had to wait for some time after every poppy session haha
