When it came to our Ryokan stay. I can not express enough how important it is to go to establishments like this. An affordable experience to truly feel like you are in Japan. I highly recommend this location. It had good restaurants around, easy access to the trains, and also from the station it was around a 10 minute walk. Many Ryokans are costly, but this was the best pricing I could have asked for. Respectful staff, attentive, accommodating, understanding, and over all helpful. Please support this Ryokan Wakamiya. We need this establishment to prosper!

The traditional look of the hotel meant we were in for a treat! I loved staying at the Ryokan. Despite our stay having been cut short by the typhoon, the two staff did their best to help us get back to Tokyo ASAP. I am so grateful for their help, please, could you pass this onto them? And even through a language barrier they found a way to laugh with us and keep us positive. I hope they stayed safe during such a time, and I would like to thank them again - Adam Bloszko

Staying at this ryokan was an absolutely amazing experience. The staff were warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile and kind assistance. The location was perfect – peaceful yet conveniently close to local sights. The room was beautifully traditional, very comfortable, and the futon and bedding were incredibly cosy. One of the highlights was the bath facility – impeccably clean and so relaxing, a real treat after a day of exploring. A truly memorable stay, and I’d love to return!

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, location fantastic, everything extremely clean. Staff are highly knowledgeable - a gentleman at the front desk recommended a ramen spot to me which was maybe the best meal I had in Kyoto. Ryokan Wakamiya offers a fantastic opportunity for traditional ryokan experience and is highly recommended for anyone staying in Kyoto. 10 ish minute walk to Kyoto station and even closer to major bus route stops.

The staff were more than helpful to talk too.. the hotel is a beautiful traditional Japanese experience.. it's a short walk to the main train station it's close to the bus stops and I really enjoyed my time there! Very wholesome place ! Love it!

There wasn't an AC in the room but I didn't mind .. it was a beautiful traditional Japanese room!

Pleasant and hassle-free stay. The property is clean, and the staff is courteous and helpful. Overall, it offers a quiet and comfortable experience.

The hotel is a bit dated and could benefit from some modern updates. The room doors are difficult to open and show signs of wear. It would be helpful to improve their functionality and appearance.

It was a traditional Ryokan experience. Bed was really nothing more than an extra large sheet. So very stiff. I guess this is what it was like to be a Samurai? Sort of close to the main station. About 5 minutes by walking. With suitcases, it's just at the distance where it starts to feel far. With backpack it was fine.

Having to take my shoes off at the door of the hotel.... Let me do that in my room.

Close to Kyoto train station, the room is traditional ryokan styled and well kept; public bath is well filled and nice despite it being small and simple. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and they assist well with hotel-hotel delivery of luggage as well (they have it available in the hotel)

Very nice place and area, but be prepared! No mattress under the futon, so it can be quite uncomfortable if you are not used to it!

The futon was thin and directly placed on the floor - for sure genuine Japanese experience but a bit uncomfortable. I would still recommend this place anyway!

A memorable experience to stay at this Ryokan! It’s a quick walk from the station with shops and restaurants nearby. The room was cozy with complimentary tea and water.

A little pricey for what’s included, but the location and charm made up for it.
