The location was great and the staff was very accommodating. However, the rooms were super small and very hard to maneuver around (luggage, walking past each other, etc) I don’t think I’d stay there again because of the room size but everything else about the hotel was great.

Room was spotlessly clean and very spacious by Japanese standards. I liked the Japanese style decor in the room and lobby area. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Green tea, coffee and water were replenished daily. Staff were all very friendly. The Breakfast was very good with a menu with Japanese and western options and a small buffet. The location is great. There are lots of restaurants nearby and Shijo subway station, Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station and Gion-Shijo Station are all within a 10 minute walk.

The window was soaking wet on two mornings. I'm not sure if this was due to a leak or just because windows often seem to be poor quality in Japanese hotels.

Unbelievably convenient and yet very secluded and quiet. We could walk to so many sites and attractions. Incredible variety of restaurants, bars, bakeries, coffee shops and cafes very nearby. The rooms were well appointed with plenty amenities and there were extras in ready supply in reception. Beds were very comfortable. Air conditioning was amazingly silent.

No view from our room. Very tight space so limited room for two suitcases on the floor. But to be expected at this price point? Breakfast offered an all-or-nothing, multi-course meal. Would have preferred to have been able to choose smaller options and not have to pay as much.

Excellent Hotel with great staff. The rooms were clean, a good size for Japanese standards and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The public bath was a great experience after a long day of sight seeing. This Hotel had everything we needed and it was only 2 minute walk to restaurants and the markets/malls for all your shopping needs. The onsite temple was an added bonus with the opportunity to attend an early morning ceremony.

Loved the atmosphere of the lobby and onsen. The incense burning felt like a serene and spiritual entry into a sacred space. The art made it all the more evocative of Kyoto. I loved visiting the shrine and Buddhist cemetery adjacent to the hotel. It was easy to walk to Gion, access the metro, and the open market for delicious steak and whiskey was less than a 5 min walk. The blocks surrounding the hotel have high end department stores and streets with romantic and authentic japanese shops and restaurants within blocks nearby. 100% recommend this hotel.

Made a last-minute change to this property, and we were very happy with the decision. Beautiful hotel, rooms were very clean, centrally located near train stations, famous Nishiki market, shopping, restaurants, attractions, and more. We booked 2 rooms, and both were comfortable, very modern, and minimalistic with enough space, but wished for more closet space. Customer service was excellent. Friendly and very accomodating staff checked us all in very early, after our long flight and train ride from Tokyo, they helped us with restaurant reservations, directions, and suggestions in the area; most staff spoke English with some help of translation app. Check in and out was easy. We did not get a chance to visit their restaurant and public bath for guests only, which is a rarity, but we will next time. The property is very unique, situated above the historic "Torodo Jokyo-ji Temple," which boasts over 500 years of history. The hotel showcases precious artifacts from Jōkōji throughout its premises, creating a unique experience. We definitely will consider this property again when visiting Kyoto and maybtry others in when in Tokyo. Tastefully decorated to incorporate a nearby historic temple, the staff is so friendly and helpful. We rented kimonos and they gave us suggestions for where to take photos and communicated the destination to the cabbie. They also took a picture of us with a Polaroid camera and gave us the picture. The onsen was peaceful and lovely. We went twice in the middle of the night due to jet lag. It was a great way to relax, even if we weren’t sleeping. We also very much enjoyed the Japanese breakfast, which comes with a small and delicious buffet. We went twice, even though we hadn’t prepaid for it. A wonderful place all around!

The property immediately gives a high class feel the moment you walk in. It’s in a great location near several bus routes and stations. My husband and I enjoyed walking around the area to discover shrines and unique stores. The public bath didn’t seem to be highly utilized, but we both enjoyed the bath and used it every night. The restaurant seemed to only serve Japanese cuisine, so we opted to eat at various local businesses instead. The staff were very kind and helped assist us in transporting our luggage to the next location 10/10

The staff is extremely polite, friendly and trying to help. There is a sauna for both men and ladies, which is honestly something out of this world. Rooms are quite spacious and convenient The interior is stylish and fresh, the location is just right I didn't like the breakfast though. The European one wasn't super, while I wasn't ready for too many pickles in the morning for a Japanese cuisine The staff is wow, but I was so surprised when we found out that some of them literally don't understand English. They do have an AI translator, but we had a few confusing situations because the receptionist mixed the words In general, I would definitely recommend them, especially because the staff is so comforting regardless of the language disability

Friendly and helpful staff at reception. Help us with the enquiry on luggage transfer service to Kansai airport. Location is good and is about 10 mins walk to some of key Kyoto attractions and departmental stores.
