This is our second stay here. We love the location. We can sit outside and watch the world go by. The hotel is right next to the tourist office (and the shop that sells macarons, my favourite). It is just round the corner from the tram and bus station. We are a few steps away from the town centre with the theatre, and streets of shops and restaurants. We have tried many restaurants in Bordeaux but there is no food better than the chef's creations in this hotel. Try the chicken with the 'Jus Corse' - a truly delicious experience. The fish of the day is always wonderful too. The rooms are adequate, and the air-con is silent and works well. The beds are just a little small - my only criticism! The staff here are great. I recognised faces from our last visit, two years ago. People are happy to work here, and they work so hard!!

Only that the beds could be a little larger.

The location is excellent. The Line B Tram (1 of the 4 in the city: very handy) has a line in front of the Hotel. The Hotel is located on a big avenue Place de la Comedie, 50 meter from the Grand Theatre and 1 minute from the busy Rue de Saint Catherine. Place de la Quiconces is in 2 minute walking. The Miroir d'Eau and the Place de La Bourse are at the 'back' area of the hotel at the Promenade at the Riverside 5 minutes walking. All things to do in the city are in a walkable distance. In the neighborhood of the hotel, there is a Tourism Office where tours can be booked also wine tours. The lobby is 24 hours open. William at the lobby was very friendly. The double room was spacious and we asked a view to the Place de Comedie which was excellent. The bathroom and WC were clean. The Breakfast was good and served in the restaurant. The wifi was a bit weak. From the airport the Line B goes to the busy shopping area and stops at the stop Saint Catherine which is 10 minutes walking to the Hotel. The Bordeau Visio Tour Bus (no hop on hop off) has a stop at 20 meter from the hotel. The hotel has a vibrant restaurant open during the night and day.

Only issue: Wifi was a beat weak.

Excellent central location! Right on the top of St. Catherine's shopping street and next to tourist office, Opera House, major tram stations, restaurants, cafes etc. We had a deluxe room on the 4th floor which was very spacious (2 doubles and a single bed) with air con and had a great outlook over the lovely square. Nice clean bath and shower with good water pressure. Also separate loo which is convenient. Breakfast was good price at €8 with small buffet of croissants, bread, juice, cheeses and yogurt plus coffee (which you ordered at the bar). Staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able leave our luggage after checking out as we had an evening flight.

Hotel is very clean but a little bit tired. The downstairs area was a bit cramped near the lift so had to be careful coming out of the lift in case people were waiting or leaving their luggage in space allocated next to the lift. We loved the size of the room but missed having a table by the window (we did have 2 chairs). The light in the bathroom was very dim so we had to use the long mirror in the bedroom.

Room was at front of hotel with views of the Opera square, with a bay window to sit and look out, meaning a typical sized room for this area didn't seem cramped at all. Bed was very comfortable and surprised to find a bathtub in the well appointed bathroom which was an excellent bonus. We were lucky to get a good rate for the room, I'm not sure we could afford the full price, but if you can then I can highly recommend.

Breakfast was a little ordinary and a little chaotic.

Really good hotel, decor / carpets in the stairs are a bit worn but dont detract from your stay. My room was spotlessly clean with a really comfortable bed (housekeeping were in daily). All staff were very pleasant both in the hotel and the cafe downstairs which did great express breakfast for 6 euros (coffee, croissant, french bread, butter and jam). Hotel is in a great location and is value for money.

The reception was always open and staff were happy to help with directions or at check in and out. Staff were multilingual and were happy to speak to us in English. The location was amazing, 200m from the Christmas Markets and very close to The tourist office and the sights. The room was warm and clean. There was a hairdryer, extra pillows and blankets, plenty of soap and body wash. There was storage space for our clothes. There was a TV.

The noise from within the hotel (I think room was under a stairwell) was loud for maybe am hour at night. There was no facility in the room for making hot drinking water. The room was not cleaned on one day that we stayed, including no fresh towels and window was left open (temperature was freezing that day) after cleaning.

Great central location, clean and comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff. Easy to find with Quinconces tram stop nearby, easy to explore the city on foot or by metro from this hotel, tourist info office nearby and a short walk to the riverfront.

To be fair it was a very enjoyable stay, the rooms aren’t the biggest but more than adaquate for a couple, we’d definately stay here again

Location is superb, Staff is excellent, helful, courteous and chef does a great job.

Hotel interiors, halls, etc. could be updated with fresh carpeting. Breakfast room could be edited to remove boxes stacked in corners and other items not need in view in the breakfast rooms. perhaps a door to bathroom would be better than a curtain. The hand dryer in bathroom is very loud and unnecessary noise when eating only 5' away in dining room.. Change to paper towels instead. Breakfast is on the slim side with only crousanst, bread, juices and coffee.... Could expand to include saucise, cheeses and eggs.

We were here a year ago and they were modernizing. They have done so sympathetically, great elevator and rooms are excellent. They are old fashioned yes super clean and accessible I do not need modern decor. The staff is efficient and 24/8. The location is superb for tram from airport and to the train station. Easy access to center of the city. Great restaurants nearby and theater and wine center. I would rather be here than fancy new hotel it is why we are in France!!

Not a thing

We love the location. Easy to reach everywhere as the metro stop is just around the corner around the city and airport and train station. The neighborhood has excellent wine bars and plazas and super access down main streets. While the hallways are worn our room was excellent. We know it is a historic hotel and the woodwork and stair details among paintings on wall and old letter boxes are original, the owner’s intent. Speaking to excellent staff we were told they plan to update new rugs etc while keeping to the original. So we didn’t mind worn areas knowing update is in mind. Bathroom small yet we expect that in Europe; totally modern however. The lift was out, unusually, so third floor a hike. Again, didn’t mind. The staff is excellent and 24 hr desk. Will stay again.

Updating needed in halls. Not a complaint, as explained, they are redecorating slated.
