It’s really worth staying here for as long as possible. I’ve heard other people say to stay in nearby villages but there’s nothing there. Stay at Mont St Michael if you can. Book early. The tours walking on the sand are brilliant. Book the conference tour (French only, and can only be booked through the French version of the Mont St Michel website) to climb the buttresses of the cathedral for best views.

Moaning reviews complaining nobody carried their bags up the stairs. Stop moaning, it’s a UNESCO heritage site and you’re lucky to be there at all.

Loved our view of the bay from our window! It was nice to be close to the entrance to Le Mont Saint Michel. Breakfast and dinner were also close by. The reception people were very helpful and kept our luggage for us while we visited the Abby before our room was ready. The room was fairly quiet.

Sadly, it can’t be fixed and it is tough on old bodies, but stairs. After climbing all the stairs at the Abby, more stairs to get to our room was very tough. It’s not that we didn’t like it, but that some travelers need to be aware of it.

The size of the room and the bathroom were quite good. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Based on the previous comments I wasn`t expecting a good experience but it was better than I thought.

For breakfast, there should be more vegan options and proper labels on the food. The room was a bit noisy with the birds outside, and the smell of the room could be better, also.

The room we stayed in was fantastic. People make complaints about the various Poulard hotels on Mont St. Michel and I understand they might not be great. But this clearly newly renovated, apartment-style unit was fantastic. And our entrance was directly out onto the ramparts! Wow - just blown away by the room and the location. The breakfast was standard fare with more than enough to eat - which is great as there are no other breakfast options on the Mont.

There isn't much negative to say. The unit had everything we could need and I couldn't have designed it better myself. This was like a dream come true. I want to go back already!

FYI - there are a lot of stairs at this property and everywhere in Mont St Michel. I would recommend taking only what you need for your stay on the island as you will have to carry your luggage to the island and up many stairs.

An amazing place to stay. We really questioned staying off the Mont or on it for many reasons, we’re so pleased to have paid the extra & stayed on it, it is even more magical when everyone has left. The hotel was undergoing some maintenance but it was spotless. The staff were really friendly, and superb in prior communication, no question was too big or silly! Our room; double with bay view in the ermitage hotel was quiet, had stunning views, was a good size for the 2 of us, and had all we needed. The curtains need 2 per window, although they are narrow one definitely isn’t enough if you want a lie in. Luckily we’re early risers but still would have liked more curtains. The food was good, but we travelled out to the local village 2 of the 3 nights as the restaurants were nicer, had more options & we felt more at ease being dressed up. The free shuttle bus is great for getting on/off the Mont. There’s a lof of steps on the Mont, and even more to the room…not ideal for those with bad knees or not keen on a lot of walking, but it was worth it, I just took pain killers for my knees. Would definitely go back again!

The room was cosy with a lovely view (ask for a room with a view - although at a higher price it is worth it).

Breakfast: the food was good when it was there. Croissants had run out and were not replenished. Scrambled eggs, bread and cheese ran out and were only brought again after 10 minutes, after constant nagging. Regarding dinner in the hotel's restaurant, I suggest you avoid the famous 'Mere Poulard' omelettes: Much ado but nothing. Tasteless fluff, no filling in the omelette itself, a miserly bit was spread in front of it. A totally overpriced rip-off con by a good PR agent. Not worth the money spent. Furthermore, the fish soup starter was watery and the worst of all I have had in France.

Great overall accommodations. Rooms furnishing were dated but windows provided an amazing view. Bathroom was very modern and updated! Breakfast was great in a dining room a few doors down the block! Considering this building is many hundreds of years old we enjoyed the old world charm and the opportunity to stroll the streets and mudflats late at night with very few people - the view from the bridge of mont st Michael at night was spectacular !

Staff did not provide not did they offer to help with our luggage up 5 flights of old stairs ! Door from the outside offered little security to the inside of our hotel ! Stairs leading up to our room were very musty !

Great bay view from room, good amenities and good breakfast.We were on level four so am glad we travelled light as there were a lot of steps. Bed was a little small but was comfy and we slept well. Able to open the window which is a bonus but it did get a little noisy when deliveries started early in the morning but we were getting up early for the sunrise anyway so it wasn't a problem.

Room was a little dark at night - added to the charm I guess. Not a big problem.

Considering that this is Mont-Saint-Michel and there are very few accommodations, the room was reasonably priced, conveniently located (up a hill, of course, but not a huge hike from the shuttle drop off point), very comfortable, amply sized, impeccably clean with a lovely view. Added bonus is the included breakfast which helps get the day started in a place notorious for limited and expensive food choices. The staff was thorough and polite. Zero complaints and I will certainly book again if returning to the Mont-Saint-Michel.

I honestly have nothing to recommend for improvement.
