It’s really worth staying here for as long as possible. I’ve heard other people say to stay in nearby villages but there’s nothing there. Stay at Mont St Michael if you can. Book early. The tours walking on the sand are brilliant. Book the conference tour (French only, and can only be booked through the French version of the Mont St Michel website) to climb the buttresses of the cathedral for best views.

Moaning reviews complaining nobody carried their bags up the stairs. Stop moaning, it’s a UNESCO heritage site and you’re lucky to be there at all.

The size of the room and the bathroom were quite good. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Based on the previous comments I wasn`t expecting a good experience but it was better than I thought.

For breakfast, there should be more vegan options and proper labels on the food. The room was a bit noisy with the birds outside, and the smell of the room could be better, also.

Loved our view of the bay from our window! It was nice to be close to the entrance to Le Mont Saint Michel. Breakfast and dinner were also close by. The reception people were very helpful and kept our luggage for us while we visited the Abby before our room was ready. The room was fairly quiet.

Sadly, it can’t be fixed and it is tough on old bodies, but stairs. After climbing all the stairs at the Abby, more stairs to get to our room was very tough. It’s not that we didn’t like it, but that some travelers need to be aware of it.

The room we stayed in was fantastic. People make complaints about the various Poulard hotels on Mont St. Michel and I understand they might not be great. But this clearly newly renovated, apartment-style unit was fantastic. And our entrance was directly out onto the ramparts! Wow - just blown away by the room and the location. The breakfast was standard fare with more than enough to eat - which is great as there are no other breakfast options on the Mont.

There isn't much negative to say. The unit had everything we could need and I couldn't have designed it better myself. This was like a dream come true. I want to go back already!

We had the apartment suite, the views were utterly fantastic and the room was very well decorated, with a lovely clean and new interior. Friendly staff and lovely complimentary items in the room. I have to say it was utterly fantastic. You can see the time come in and the sunrise perfectly. The location of this suite really was amazing, sea on one side and the Mont on the other (though that side was less private)

No air conditioning or even a fan meant the room was incredibly hot as it was 30 degrees when we were there. Also got loud at like 5am owing to a shop/restaurant restocking - but I suppose that can’t be helped.

A large room, with a fantastic view - we were lucky enough to be there for the full moon, and could watch it rising over the water from our room - spectacular! Very comfortable and convenient to all the island had to offer. Loved the experience of staying on the island.

A small thing - but the banging front door to the property should be fixed, as people seemed to come and go at all hours. It was fairly expensive to stay there, but I appreciate it’s a matter of supply and demand.

I spent two nights at La Mère Poulard and honestly felt like I’d stepped straight into a postcard. The hotel sits right in the middle of the village, so the abbey bells, the tides, and the tiny stone lanes are all on your doorstep. It feels a bit like a rustic masia, full of charm and history. The staff were kind and helpful, and my double room was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is served at the top of the famous restaurant, with a beautiful view and a great variety—fresh fruit, cheese, cold cuts, bread, and more. It’s not overly fancy, but it has character and comfort. I’d definitely stay again.

The Ermitage at La Mere Poulard did not disappoint. Staying overnight on the island is a fantastic way to enjoy the town after the massive crowds of day trippers gave gone. While it is understandable that some upgrades are likely to never be made, such as elevators due to the history and sensitivity of the structures, visitors must anticipate a great deal of stair climbing and facilities such as water flow/temperature requiring some patience. The room was ideal, with a wonderful view over the town and countryside. Flies are an issue, but given the geography of low tide lands and nearby livestock, it is not surprising and clearly unavoidable. The staff were extremely polite and accommodating. We would gladly stay here again if we are fortunate enough to return to this fairy tale location. All in all, we had a wonderful time!

Staying on the island was a great decision. We are a family of 7 and anyone could just go back to the rooms anytime to rest while some stayed out late to take pictures. We were able to beat the crowds in the morning as well to the abbey. Free included Breakfast was a special treat with pictures of famous people who stayed there decorating the walls. There was a musty smell in our room which improved after opening the windows and turning on the fan. Bathrooms were updated and clean. Nice view in one of our rooms. P2 lot parking, which is next to the shuttles was a plus.

The size and standard of the bedroom and adjoining bathroom was excellent and consistent with the character of the hotel and location of Mont St Michel. We had a superb view up towards the abbey which was spectacular. The hotel was very quiet overnight and at the heart of the bustling crowd during the day. The breakfast was self service with a wide range of food and beverages. It was a delight to stay in such a historic location; both the hotel itself and the well preserved and authentic buildings throughout this iconic location. Staying overnight meant we could enjoy wandering around the island when the majority of the day's visitors had either not arrived or had already left.

Nothing not to like, except for the sheer numbers of tourists during the day. But pretty much all the tourists were respectful and literally went with the flow!
