- location, close to metro (5 min walk) or for full walking tour of main Paris attractions (40 mins to Notre Dame, walking partly by the Seine - would really recommend this for first timers to the city to get a feel of Paris, so many beautiful buildings and long boulevards en route) - friendly staff, happy to help with our questions. - it was very clean, nice bathroom, a very solid base from which to discover Paris

- the rooms are tiny. That is completely understandable given the location but just be aware of it. We were very kindly offered a chance to upgrade to a bigger room for an extra 20€ per night. We weren't too fussed but our original room didnt look as though it had room for our suitcases on the floor! Also required to pay some kind of paris tourist tax on arrival - assume (hope?) this was in the small print and is the same everywhere.

I liked everything about it. The room was quiet, the bed comfy, super well placed, everyone so kind. I was happy that I chose this place.

Great Stay with Exceptional Service! I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and always happy to help with any questions or requests. The hotel is very clean, and the rooms were spotless, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location is perfect— safe and easy to explore the area. One of the highlights was the comfortable bed, ensuring a restful night’s sleep every night. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its great service, cleanliness, and excellent location. It was truly a memorable stay!

Friendly and personable staff. Very accommodating. Never made you feel you were an inconvenience, (even if you were out of creamer for a late night cup of decaf). The continental breakfast was generous with scrambled eggs and bacon as well as the usual pastries and cold offerings, but even those were plentiful.

The rooms looked newly renovated with every modern comfort, well-kept and very clean with plenty of hot water, but the rooms with the best views were in the front facing the picturesque Ave. Richard Lenoir, and I’m guessing were prioritized for couples. As a solo traveler, I was given a room overlooking a plain and relatively narrow backstreet directly across from an apartment building, forcing me to keep the curtains closed if I was ever in the room. Would’ve been fine if I was in town for a day or two, but I was there for a week.

This hotel is an absolute gem! I travel to Paris once or twice per year, always staying in different hotels. I have never before been tempted to write a review or to recommend a hotel, but my husband and I were so happy with Hôtel Saint Martin Bastille that I felt I must. We dealt with three different receptionists over the course of three days and all were utterly charming in a very genuine and warm way. Our top-floor room was spotlessly clean, spacious, bright and had a lovely view. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Marais, Bastille, and Republique. It is less than 20 metres from the start of the trendy Rue Oberkamp which has cafes, bakeries, bars, restaurants and a small but well-stocked supermarket. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as the breakfast room is in the basement (common for Parisian hotels) and we decided to instead try the many great cafes for breakfast nearby. For those travelling with teenagers, ultra-trendy concept store Merci is less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There are bike-lanes in all directions on the street just outside the hotel, and nearby bike docking stations.

As nearly always in Paris, there is some noise from the street if you keep the windows open.

The hotel was good, the staff were very nice people, the receptionist from the 1st day was great and was able to let us check-in earlier and to a better room than the one booked. Everything was very clean in the room and the bed was comfortable. Wifi good, the room has a refrigerator also and you can find also tea, coffee and some water. The location is really close to the Oberkampf metro and to several restaurants. There is also a nice cafe at the corner of the building.

I cannot say it was something not known, because you can find this by looking at the location on the map, but the hotel is not close by foot to any of the most turistic atractions for first timers in Paris. You can easily get to them by metro though, so this is good. You can also reach by foot the clubs and bars for some night parties in Bastille.

The concierge was really helpful and friendly and immediately made us feel comfortable upon our arrival in Paris. The room was cleaned every day and every night, after walking around Paris all day, we came home to a made bed and fresh towels which was just lovely. The location is brilliant for travellers who want to spend the day doing more touristy things in the 1st arrondisement and then be closer to the more fun bars in the evening. Overall a great hotel.

Just be aware if you go for the cheapest room it will be a tad on the small side.

We booked Privilege Double Room at 16m2 which is spacious based on Paris hotels standard. Neighbourhood feels safe. Location is great and only about 20 mins walk to Le Marais. Nearest metro station, Oberkampf, is only a few mins walk. Paris is a walkable city and we have been walking to most attractions under the nice winter. Room is pleasant looking, clean and bed is comfortable. Only minus point is probably the toilette door is only able to open partially due to the WC behind it. This may differ for other rooms. Staffs are friendly and helpful, thumbs up ;)! We will stay there again, if room rate is competitive and the hotel keeps up to its standard :). Near Place République the immaculately clean boutique hotel is in an excellent and quiet neighbourhood, with restaurants and bakeries nearby as well as a public market. Access to the metro is two streets away and it connects with other lines very efficiently so that someone visiting can easily see the city sights. Our Privilege room was on the top floor (5th) and had all the amenities one could ask for: ample space for suitcases, wardrobes, mini fridge, Nespresso machine, Netflix (if you came to Paris to watch TV), etc. The bathroom was also spacious for Paris (see photos). The staff is friendly, courteous, and very helpful. The hotel also offers breakfast, but we didn’t partake. I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Paris and we would gladly stay again.

The elevator is tiny and will only fit two suitcases, OR two people, but not both together so you will need to send one suitcase with one person at a time. However, there is an elevator so that’s a plus. Not sure if it is wheelchair accessible given the narrow width (see photo).

This is a warm, welcoming and cute hotel. The staff on reception are always courteous and friendly. We had a slight leak in our bathroom and the owner upgraded us to the only room left without question. The beds and pillows were super comfortable and everything about staying there was really pleasant. The breakfast was exceptional with lots of different choices and food allergies catered for. The neighbourhood is safe with lots going on, great bars and interesting places to eat We chose to eat around the area instead of going back into the busy quarter. When we come back to Paris I will definitely return here. Thank you!
