A delightful place with delightful staff. We arrived with car which is, in Rennes, an inadvisable thing to do. Spent an hour driving in circles round the inpenetrable one way systems, not more than a couple of hundred yards from hotel. Eventually parked in a space and walked there, somewhat frazzled and bad tempered. They were absolutely delightful. One of them volunteered to go and get the car. Got it. Sorted it. Wow! Hotel itself is lovely. Very elegant. All the right bits in the right places. Close to centre of town. Nothing to dislike. Everything to like.

Hotel itself is great. However if you have a car I would suggest perhaps Rennes is best avoided as they take the concept of hostility to car drivers to a different and somewhat ridiculous level.

Good location for exploring Rennes and Bretagne. Very nice hotel, cozy feel but what really stands out is the staff. I have travelled the world on business for 40 years and stayed in many luxury hotels but the Balthazar Hotel is one of the better experiences I have had. Full marks to every member of staff throughout the four nights we stayed at the hotel.

Dinner our last evening was a bit bland and the bathroom in our classic room was a bit small. But clean and well equipped. The hotel offers better rooms for a small add-on.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! It’s perfectly located, right next to everything you might need, from restaurants to attractions. The service was excellent and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. They offer a valet service, and the valet was very professional and efficient. As part of our stay, we also had access to one hour at the spa, which was a truly relaxing experience. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, everything was top-notch!

The hotel is modern, with a very comfortable and spacious room. The service is impeccable. The breakfast offers a variety of options, and there is a restaurant with excellent food, although it is expensive. It was well worth it.

It seems unimportant, but it's annoying. The bathroom could have a slightly larger sink area, and the door to the toilet opens outward, which gets in the way of someone using the sink. The faucet handles at the sink are difficult to open and close. They didn't need to use a modern and non-functional design. But everything else was excellent.

This should be private to the management. We ezperienced several bedbug bites diring our stay 😳 But given the otherwise excellent stay did not want to explicilty mention it to reception- obviously embarrassing. I had an aternoon nap because of the heat - my companion worked - so it was quite obvious the next morning when we had similar bitemarks.

Lovely room, comfy bed, great shower & shower products. Spa was very good. Location to the historic centre was excellent as was the valet parking.

Shame the outside space was limited. The photos online are from private terraces for certain suites. The service at the restaurant was superb, but the menus were trying too hard to be different & some of the food combinations didn't work for us.

The hotel is within a short walking distance of many of the key places of interest. There are also a number of restaurants in the vicinity. We were visiting Rennes for a weekend. The hotel was approximately a 15mins walk from the main railway station and easy to locate. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The hotel decor is modern and tasteful and very cosy. Our room was clean and comfortable and had all the amenities necessary for a good stay. Although we didn’t use the Spa, as we had limited time, we did have a look at it and were impressed. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to this hotel and would recommend it to others.

Given the options in this small French town, this certainly stands out as one of the best hotel accommodations in the area. From the cute lobby bar to the free spa hour for hotel guests, it is perfect for the traveler on business. Looking for a little bit of r&r after a day's work. I would highly recommend this location to anyone returning to or staying for the first time at Rennes.

Honestly, there was very little to dislike. If I were being hyper critical, I might say the bed wasn't the best it could be, but at the same time we had no problem sleeping.

the location and the interiors

the photos of the room I booked were not at all corresponding for what I booked on booking.com i asked for a clarification i am an architect and I mesured the room. it was 16m2. the classic that I booked was 24m2. it is not my first booking on booking.com and it s not either my first time at sofitel the manager at the front desk helped us and solved this small issue. this is what I did not like to settle in a room and then have to move ro another because of such small details. i always have this bad impression that booking.com clients have always the ugliest and baddest room as if the hotels keep for their own clients the other rooms…

The hotel staff was wonderful. The rooms were clean and pretty. We had a lovely view of the quiet courtyard. There were many restaurants in easy walking distance. We loved that everything in the fridge was complimentary. It was nice to not be nickel and dimed. I wish more hotels did this.

I am not a fan of separate toilet rooms. I find them claustrophobic. Other than that I have no complaints.
