Very quirky, unusual hotel with a swimming pool in a cave! Large bedroom - we didn't choose a cave bedroom but our room was large and comfortable. Great buffet breakfast. The manager (and all staff) were great - so helpful and friendly and seemed to work all hours. His English was so good too, nothing was too much trouble - and he has the cutest dog! Brilliant location to visit the Loire area and lots of vineyards around - we had a wine tasting session which was great.

The pool itself was awesome but could do with a clean/sweep and more chairs available in that area to leave your towel, dressing gown etc (there was only 1). No food available onsite, only pre-prepared jars of food which didn't really appeal to us. Lovely drinks though to enjoy on the pretty patio area!

Most unusual place sleeping in a cave was an experience and eating a delicious evening meal out of Jars was amazing and well thought out as no restaurant nearby to be able to walk to. Location perfect as just off a road into Saumur where there is everything you need from restaurants to supermarkets and the beautiful Loire River. 💕

The outside area for breakfast, dinner and drinks is unfortunately plagued by wasps there are many nests in the grassed area just below the patio where we sat. They also plague the inside during breakfast feasting on the jams and fruits. This could easily be sorted by getting rid of the nests. The outside is a beautiful area and the wasps just spoilt relaxing there. We would despite the wasps recommend staying here for a whole new experience💕

Would absolutely stay here again and recommend to friends/family. Whilst listed as a 3 star hotel, this place had 5 star service. We arrived later than anticipated and Yannick immediately arranged dinner for us in the nearby town and his wife even drove us there! They offered great advice on nearby attractions and places of interest, as well as places to dine, even booked them in for us. The breakfast was a great treat each morning, and the pool was amazing, although a little chilly we still swam for between 40-60 mins each time. Yannick was even kind enough to do a load of washing for us. Nothing was too much to ask, it was a great place to spend 4 nights and if given the chance we'd love to come back in summer!

We didn’t get a cave room but the one we had was lovely. We swam in the cave pool which was a great experience. It was a shame that due to recent rain that the entrance was closed and we had to shimmy along the edge to get in. We had dinner on the terrace ‘dinner in a bowl’ with a bottle of local bubbly it was lovely

We felt that the local areas could have been a bit cleaner, but what do you expect from a cave hotel?

The property is extremely charming - we had a suite with a kitchen and superb living room. We also had a washer and dryer, which enabled us to wash all our dirty laundry. The swimming pool, inside a cave, was magnificent. I wish we could have stayed longer.

We liked everything. Our only regret is that we booked only one night, and had to move on to our next destination in Amboise.

I loved the option of staying in a cave. There’s a lovely outdoor seating area & excellent breakfast. Its location was great for buying gifts & for bars.

I selected a room with a pool view which was stretching the truth. You could glimpse the pool if you tried. There was a dirty ashtray outside our room on arrival.

Clean and beautifully ambient rooms incorporated into pre-existing ancient caves. Yannicke a very hospitable host who showed us our room and the pool and was obviously very invested in this property. The cave pool was such a lovely novelty to make the stay even more special. In the morning a reasonably priced delicious buffet breakfast with many local/organic products which set us up for the morning!

A swim in a cavern! Grapes from the house vine for breakfast! Bats flying about in the dusk above the terrace! And a comfortable modern hotel indoors. I note there was wheelchair access to my room. The cool location on the north side of a cliff would be a bonus in very hot weather.

The bike racks in the cave were of the sort that bends ones front wheel. But plenty of walls to lean the bike on instead.

The location and aesthetic is amazing, Yannick was a great host. He was incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable, gave restaurant recommendations within walking distance and booked for us. He also gave recommendations for site seeing. He was attentive and accomodating, checked in often and was always available to help. His English was perfect which made it even easier to discuss our plans with him as our French is limited. The breakfast was incredible, all locally sourced produce and fresh, plenty of variety for us and our 2yo. The pool was beautiful. There is a vineyard directly next door and plenty of food and wine nearby. We did scenic walks ever morning and there was plenty to see. We would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat and will recommend to others.

Wonderful experience staying in cave accomodation. Downstairs was very large with sofa, chairs wardrobe and plenty of space to spread out. The bathroom also downstairs was big with a very large bath, authentic mosaics on the wall and definitely mood lighting. Lots of hot water and robes supplies with lovely fluffy towels. Upstairs another seating area with a door out to a terrace with country views and the bedroom which had a comfy bed and good pillows. Connecting the two floors was the staircase which was very authentic but could be a challenge for some. Breakfast served on the terrace was great, lots of choice and good quality. the host was English speaking and very helpful and had a good supply of brochures in English.

The spiral staircase though absolutely necessary is a challenge in the middle of the night. Not suitable for anyone with stair issues. Downstairs because of where and what is was had a musty smell at times but nothing you couldn't cope with
