Lovely location close to U and S Bahn and busses with many good options for food (and excellent Rewe supermarket) within a short walk. 10 mins to Zoological Garden for well connected transport, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and Bikini Berlin shopping. Catch the 100 bus there to see all the sights. Very friendly and helpful staff made us feel at home. This is a charming hotel, not an anonymous sterile identikit corporate style place. There are shared bathrooms and the facilities are not super modern, which is clear in the information, and we we were happy to swap this for old world charm and personality. We felt very relaxed and looked after and it made our first visit to Berlin a pleasure. We would go back.

The hotel had more of a B&B vibe than a typical hotel. As I stepped through the front door, I felt I had gone through a time travel portal as I saw the hallways and breakfast room lined with photos of actors from the early days of film and paintings. One of the staff told me that the hotel had been the home of one of the more famous actors in Berlin and that theme carried throughout the hotel, giving it a warm, welcoming holiday energy.

The shower room was a bit smaller than a typical European shower room. While I know typical European hotel bathrooms are small compared to those in the US, this one was just large enough to change my clothes and mind, but not at the same time.

Very good location and easily accessible to public transport. Very friendly staff, and lavish, good looking interiors. They also cleaned the room as when you wanted it to be cleaned. Good value for the money spent.

Unfortunately, the room we were given was not the most comfy. The bed was worn out, the room was located at a corner (so no view and felt claustrophobic) and the internet was not working properly (which I understand was not in their control). Make sure to ask the staff for toiletries as it is not part of the room in order to avoid wastage. (we didnt know that, but luckily we were carrying our own)

Walking into the building feels like stepping back in time. The hotel and the building maintains 1930s charm with high ceilings, big windows, chandeliers and furniture. The hotel embodies the spirit of old Berlin with modern conveniences. The hotel is the former residence of silent movie star Asta Nielsen. It felt like we were the guests at her place. The staff provided high class hospitality.

I was so happy with my stay and satisfied with my room. There's a little sink in it and I like the ambiance of the hotel with a good morning whisper of the bird. It feels like to live long time ago and the elevator is so fun to experience. Feels like time travel. Thank you to the kind receptionist who let me try the elevator 😁

A very unusual hotel that takes us back to a distant past. Everything is well preserved and of period. It's a nice change from ‘classic’ hotel rooms. Even though the hotel is from an ancient time, it has some very nice modern touches (like the wifi, which works really well).

Comfort suffers a little from the age of the rooms, with creaky floors, fairly thin walls and an extremely soft mattress ;-).

Atmosphere was brilliant. The place is old (it isn't sparkly new like the photos appear)... BUT it is clean and fun to stay in. Staff are great... breakfast is great! I'd stay here again... and great value for money and location!!

More a critique than a dislike. The place was awesome from an historic perspective. The rooms...beds.. bathrooms are super clean but the building is old and slightly tired but this gives it its charm. The best way to describe the place... it is old...but clean. (This isn't a negative more the reality)

The place is full of character and history. Comfortable bed, clean, easy to check in and out, and a lovely breakfast. Great location as well, walking distance from the ubahn and bus. I was leaving late in the day and the lovely folks at the front desk let me leave my bag in a safe place until I had to go to the airport. Good sized room, fairly quiet. Be mindful that there's no air conditioning but I didn't mind, the room gets plenty of ventilation.

No toiletries provided in the bathroom, however there's a drug store within walking distance so I just bought some, so no bother at all.

After staying in hostels for 2 weeks, this place was a breath of fresh air. It was so lovely and felt so old-timey and luxurious at the same time. Lovely vibe and located in a nice area.

I wouldn’t say it’s the best location, we definitely had to catch public transport around but trains etc are very much in walking distance. Especially if you’re looking to go out, it is not close to the party district. The stairs were a bit of a killer if you have very heavy luggage like we did, but it wouldn’t stop me from booking this place again as you only have to lug it up once on arrival and down once on departure. The staff made it sound like breakfast was free, so we had to check our booking again to realise it was not included. They also charge you at the end of your stay so it felt like a bit of a trick but most likely was not intentional.

The room is small but very cozy and warm. The staff is super nice that he even let me try the old elevator! The building is amazing! The location is very good, very convenient to everywhere.
