The reception is always available so the check in and check out are easy to do and the staff is super nice. The hall is spacious and confortable with a lot of places to sit down, chill and relax but also the possibility to play games like billiards,, kickers and spend time talking with other travelers. The rooms are simple but clean and towels and linen are available. I like that they also provide shampoo/soap and everything that is needed for the bathroom.

I would have liked to have some lockers in the room for my stuff, especially when the rooms are shared with other people. Some times there is just a person at the bar and there are queues forming

The location is good and near to public transportation The staff was amazing and very friendly. It was clean and safe. A new experience for me which I didn’t regret. Very good for its price

Noisy as there was a school trip during the first 2 days of our stay but that was fine somehow as we were in vacation and we enjoyed the vibes. The lights inside the room was very weak but we could go and stay at the lobby any time. The nearest train station 5 minutes away but it had a large number of stairs without escalators or elevators. But there was another station little farther but we could walk to it in 15-20 minutes.

I absolutely loved my stay at A&O Hamburg City Hostel. The entire place was clean, modern, and well-maintained. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, and everything felt safe and organized. The common areas had a great social vibe, perfect for meeting new people, especially if you’re traveling solo. The staff were friendly, helpful, and available 24/7, which made the experience even more pleasant. The location is also super convenient—very close to public transportation and easy to reach the city center. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Hamburg. If I ever come back, this is definitely where I’ll stay again!

Charming Stay with a Youthful Vibe We’re an older couple and stayed at this youth hostel during our trip to Hamburg. We weren’t quite sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was lively and friendly – lots of young travelers, but we never felt out of place. The staff were kind and helpful, even if the check-in process was a bit chaotic (perhaps just bad timing). Still, once settled, everything went smoothly. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a spotless bathroom. Breakfast was simple but good – although we only had fruit available on one morning, which was a slight disappointment. A big plus for us: our bicycles were kept safe in a locked storage area, giving us peace of mind. The hostel is in a fantastic location – just a short walk to the city center and very close to both metro and S-Bahn stations, making it easy to get around. All in all, a great experience – youthful energy with solid comfort. Don’t let the “youth” label deter you!

The room was larger than usually rooms like these are, it was comfortable and everything was in order. Nothing extra but everything you need. The shower was good, beds comfortable. You could leave your luggage to store after checkout for free in the luggage room.

You can hear the neighbors doors closing very loudly. TV didn't work in our room. I didn't like the route to the city when walking by foot - the first 10 to 15 minutes to the main train station were not too nice - loud streets and a spot where homeless people hung out often, but it wasn't too bad.

It was bigger than the other A&O hostels we had been for our trip around Germany. Getting there from the HBF with the the trains were the struggles of our trip since there were no elevators at the Berliner Tor stop and because of the ongoing construction, it was hard to get to the other side of the road to the hotel especially with a stroller. Also, the hotel even though had exits for strollers and wheelchairs, there were still some stairs anyway! But apart from that, the hotel room was comfy for all 5 of us. The kids always loved the “Kids Corner” it was their highlight at every A&O hotel we lodged. It’s truly a family friendly hotel/hostel. ❤️

I stayed at a&o Hamburg City for two nights and had a great experience. The apartments were clean and had everything I needed. Dilshod and the rest of the reception staff were very kind and friendly, answering all my questions. The location is close to public transport and some nice cafes. The common areas were well-maintained and a great place to relax. Also it was quiet in the room, which I really appreciated. The price was reasonable for the quality of service. I would definitely recommend this hostel. Thank you for your work!

I was very positively surprised with the quality of the beds, the cleanliness and how friendly and accommodating the staff was. The room was spacious enough for two people and their luggage. Despite the heavy traffic beside the property it was quiet and the drapes kept the room dark. Had a good night's sleep! Breakfast was pretty basic, but very generous. Loved the mirror and the lightning: great for doing makeup.

The bathroom was a bit small and the drain cover of the sink was missing. The towel heater in the bathroom didn't get warm, but it's more of a minor inconvenience.

We have 2 new nice people VINOD and BRITNEY thanks to them they just made easy my stay at the hostel. And also I wanna thank again and again AHMED, DZIKRI, UZAIR those people are very professional very helpful, I saw them working very hard every time and they still keep the smile and keep helping all the people. I'll give some advice that I came up with myself. Modernize the system of checking people into rooms by adding a section on the registration form at the reception that asks, "What time will I start preparing to leave?" Then, update the system so that it assigns rooms where people will wake up at approximately the same time. I checked in, and the next day I had a long and difficult journey planned to start at 9:00 AM. However, my neighbor woke up at 5:30 AM and started getting ready, another one woke up at 6:15 AM, and another at 6:30 AM, and finally, someone else at 7:20 AM. As a result, I ended up starting my journey at 10:00 AM because I didn’t get enough sleep at all. Point number 1.
