This was a mixture of good and bad.The hotel is not very good at disguising the fact tht they are trying to gouge as much money out of you as they can. Two examples, when I arrived I wanted two bottle of tonic water for my room as there were hardly any drinks in my fridge. I was charged 10 Euros for tonic water which was fine but also 10Euros service I.e 100% service chargé. Secondly when I got my bill for my stay I was charged 30 Euros per night for parking although I had only parked in the garage for one night. By the way I had stayed in hotels in Germany for 38 nights and the oking charge at this hotel was the higher I experienced.The other night I was on the street. I had a good dinner in their bistro restaurant which was charged at a fair price. On the second night I asked the hotel to book me a restaurant which they said they had done but when we arrived t the restaurant they had no record of the booking. The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking the Elbe in a very nice part of Hamburg but is at least five miles from the city centre. I had my car so it did not affect me but without a car the distance is too much if you want go back and forth. As is usual with hotels these days the staff were young and perhaps not as well trained as one would expect in a five star hotel but thy were very charming and polite.

Staff were super friendly and helpful! My phone charger stopped working and they provided me with a charger without cost for the stay. Nothing was too much trouble!

We had a false fire alarm go off in the bedroom at 09:00 in the morning which took a long time to turn off. We were overcharged on our final bill by 77€. A mistake which we had to chase up after our stay for a refund.

Great classic hotel with amazing garden and views. Great buffet breakfast and restaurant.

the people at the reception were not at a 5 star hotel level. the shower water would become very cold at times which did not make the shower time very pleasant, that should be fixed and avoided in such a hotel.

This historic hotel is a gem. I loved the ambience and old world charm of it. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again next time I visit Hamburg and I have already booked a room in the very beginning of February.

Location of hotel is perfect! We especially loved spending time on the outside terrace overlooking the Elbchausse River and laden with graceful trees which came alight at night. Most awesome views!

The dinner menu. Options were limited. However, 💯% for opulence & flare.

Location is lovely, excellent view over the river. Very good Public transport links across river. Underground access provided safe access to wellness area. Staff were very nice and helpful.

The food was very expensive however it was fantastic.

The location was beautiful, the breakfast excellent (although not quite up to the same standard as 12 ago).

I had to pay an unexpected surcharge of EUR 80 because the receptionists were not aware that I had reserved two rooms for a total of 4 people altough I could show that Booking had confirmed my reservation as indicated. I therefore expect a refund of the additional payment from the party responsible for the mishap.

Such a lovely place to stay outside the hussle and bustle of Hamburg. Our room had a wonderful view of the Elber - Otis Redding could have been describing the place when he wrote "Dock of the Bay".

Nothing negative just a couple of comments. Complimentary car parking would be nice. Perhaps a slightly wider breakfast selection. But a truly lovely place to stay in Hamburg

It would have been nice if they served some nots, chips or other snacks in the bar when you bought a drink

Where can I begin, truly one of the best hotel experiences I've had. I love the history of the hotel along with the friendly staff who are willing to go well and beyond to help out and the smile that never leaves their faces truly made an everlasting impression. I will definitely be coming again if I ever visit Hamburg next time.
