A lively and busy location very close to the main station and within walking distance of the lake. A very international feel to the area with lots of shops and restaurants. They provide a decent breakfast for good value. Room was small but clean and comfortable with a view over the main street, which I really liked. The room had a safe for valuables.

I really liked the area, but it might be a little bit intimidating for older people or single females at night time.

It was, what it was. . . perfect for our needs. It wasn't my first visit to the Hotel Lumen! I was there 20 years ago. It was just right then so I needed no introduction! The main point for us was its nearness to the main station and underground. OK we didn't get breakfast thrown in, but we knew that at the time of booking. Being in the St Georg/Steindamm district there is a degree of ethnicity with its location, but it's all part of life's rich tapestry. We never felt threatened in any way! We would go back again.

Not having the breakfast included in the price, but we were aware of this when making the booking! There is a wee climb to the first where the lift and reception is location,

Had a one-night stopover in Hamburg and wanted to visit the Art Museum before continuing the journey. The location was perfect for Hauptbahnhof and Museum, very friendly and helpful staff at reception up a flight of stairs, lift to my clean quiet room on the 4th floor, good WiFi. I did not take the breakfast option but the breakfast room looked cosy. The neighbourhood is, shall we say, 'colourful', but plenty of shops and places to eat, big supermarket right opposite, and actually I thought an evening's stroll around St Georg district was an unexpected touristic bonus. The hotel itself is calm and peaceful and great value for money. I will use it again.

For the price, it would be churish to point to any shortcomings.

It is simple, yet fulfilled all of our needs. The location is great for walking to the city center. The front desk is always open. In short, it’s all very convenient, assuming you can get up the first flight of stairs.

I always felt like I was maneuvering around the doors; there is very little space in the entrance between the door (which opens inward) and the stairs. Don’t let that scare you, though.

The hotel is just steps away from Hamburg Central Station, train system. The room was basic but clean and a great value for the price. Upon arrival I was greeted in anorofessional and way by the front desk person who had already the information for my reservation. I was asked if I wanted to add breakfast, and I am glad I did because the food was great with lots of choices.

I liked everything. It is not a five starts hotel, but it is a great place to stay for an affordable price and having the convenience that the hotel is in a good location because I was able to walk to many places.

The Room was bright and plenty of windows. Good fan in room. Plenty of storage space. Safe in Room. Location of hotel was excellent not too long walk into central areas, plenty of shops and subways near hotel. They was plenty of restaurants next to hotel and penny supermarket direct across road for all your essential items. We would definately book this hotel again next time we visit the wonderful city of Hamburg! We would have liked to have kettle in room to make warm drinks. Breakfast in Hotel quite expensive compared to outside establishments. Shower in Room has a high step, Wife struggled having shower. Lots of Steps in Hotel To Room.

We picked this hotel because of its proximity to the train station, and it is a short walk to the train station from the hotel. The hotel breakfast that they had was a good value for the money. The room that we were in had a window looking out on a busy street, but the room was very well soundproofed from the road. The hotel staff was very nice and spoke English well.

You will need to bring your bags up a long flight of stairs. Once you are in the hotel, there is an elevator but there is no way around the flight of stairs up into the hotel. The rooms themselves are not the nicest and need to be refreshed, but for a short stay when you are just looking for a place for a nice or two, the rooms are just fine. Also, the walls between the rooms are not the best, so you might be able to hear your neighbors.

The hotel deserves a higher rating than the existing one. The breakfast is excellent, walking distance from the center, close to the metro, it is warm, friendly staff, flexible check-in time, the bathroom is quite satisfactory.

The room is small, there is no kitchen in the room, the outside of the hotel is dirty.

A lot of people mentioned the noisy street and people hanging around outside. I guess they had different expectations. This is a lively neighborhood for sure but yes many people live in Hamburg and they just go around their own business. Hamburg is a metropole what does one expect. Clean and comfortable. Nice person at the reception.

I left the hotel early in the morning, so I didn't have time to take the breakfast, but am 100% sure that the breakfast will be good as the hotel comfort. anyway thanks.

What I like best is the location, I need to take my flight early in the morning so just two minutes walk am at train station, anyway it was fantastic.
