Location - perfect. Less than 10 minutes away by foot from the "old town", but far enough away that there are considerably fewer tourists around. Metro station is right next to the hotel. Room - great, maybe a little bit too tight. The bed was comfortable. Adequate storage space in a large wardrobe. No air conditioning, but a portable fan is installed. Service - perfect! Everyone was polite, helpful and welcoming. Tasty, high quality breakfast. (Muesli, yoghurt, bread and cold cuts) All in all, an amazing option if you want a comfortable, hassle free stay with a little bit of 19th century feel to it!

The bathroom is rather compact and there is a little bit of wear and tear noticable on the sink and the shower.

This is a great hotel in a perfect, quiet location, but still very close to Munich Altstadt, The English Gardens, and all of Munich's central attractions. Hotel staff at check-in and check-out were SUPER friendly, there was parking right out front (which we only had to pay €8 to the hotel for) and the rooms were super clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay again when visiting Munich.

The only thing that's odd is that there's a lift right when you walk into the building, but you can't use it because it connects to somewhere else, and reception is up a flight of stairs. We had a 30kg suitcase which we had to carry up, but we managed fine. Just a concern if you're someone who requires step-free access (e.g. if you're in a wheelchair, etc.) Not sure how this can be remedied though since the building is quite old (and beautiful).

The room had a charming old world feeling while still being very comfortable, especially the bed. We are in our mid-sixties and while we like to walk, we are not super fit so we found the location good as it was about 15 minutes walk from the old town and only about 10 minutes in the other direction from the English Garden and the national museum plus there was good local restaurants and bakeries nearby. If you are not into walking or want to conserve energy for walking around the city, the tram and underground are close by and easy to use. The staff, especially Sebastian, were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast in the hotel is good.

We were a little concerned about the tram noise as we are not used to noise, but it was not an issue and we slept very well.

Beautiful exterior & interior design. Great central location right in front of U-Bahn station and trams - very easy to get to airport and around Munich. Very welcoming and attentive staff (particularly at front desk and breakfast) Staff helped me with any queries, such as storing personal food in fridge. Tasty, varied breakfast buffet and lovely ambience. Windows in room can be opened for fresh air.

Complimentary water refills not provided. I asked for refill assuming it was complimentary and was provided it without being told it would cost. I only found out at the end of my stay by seeing it on my invoice. The rooms use key instead of card, which I find a bit fiddly as have to manually lock each time. Not really of a problem, just personal preference. There were some minor issues with housekeeping, but were resolved promptly when discussed with front desk.

The staff at the hotel were amazing. On the evening of Christmas Day, which happened to be our last night at the hotel, I was in an accident which required emergency surgery overnight and then a four day stay in hospital thereafter. The Hotel staff were great on the first night assuring my partner she had a place to stay for at least one more night and then each time we needed to extend the stay by another night or two due to uncertainty as to when I would be released from hospital and we would be returning home to Australia, the staff were always happy to accommodate. Even when my partner needed to change rooms they made the process as smooth as possible by assisting with luggage or taking luggage up to the new room whilst she was at the hospital with me. My partner tells me every time she walked through reception they always asked how I was going. Without the flexibility and friendliness of the staff at the Splendid our already ruined holiday would have turned into a full on nightmare. Super convenient location 15 minute walk to Marianplatz and Viktualienmarkt - tram option also available only a couple hundred metres down the street.

One of the pilows had no substance to it at all but after the first night when I asked for a replacement they obliged by replacing it on the spot and even allowed me to choose thevone I felt suited me best from their spare linen cupboard.

Very pretty hotel with lovely rooms in a nice, central location. The staff is extremely kind and friendly, and the rooms are beautifully decorated with lovely lighting and furnishings. The hotel is in a nice, central location near transport.

The hotel is right above the tram which is convenient but also be a bit noisy. Try to ask for a room on the non-tram side. The windows are double pane which does keep the noise to a minimum, but you still hear the tram passing by during business hours. The street view is very nice. I’d definitely stay here again, despite its one drawback.

The location is fantastic—Marienplatz is within walking distance, there’s a metro station nearby, and plenty of dining options close by. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe here. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.

For the price, I expected more. There’s no safe in the room, and the single bottle of water provided at check-in isn’t replenished, which feels a bit underwhelming. The cleaning staff can be quite loud in the mornings, so sleeping in isn’t really an option. The breakfast also doesn’t offer good value—you’ll find much better options nearby for the same price.

Furnishings (minus carpets), sweet balcony overlooking garden (junior suite opposite street-side), bathroom shower and water pressure. The location is in the heart with immediate Ubahn station.

Reception just handed us a key. No information about the "bar", breakfast or otherwise. Had to read online reviews to understand thd hotel better. No one to help carry luggage up flight of stairs to reception or down upon departure. With online reservations, it appears one must do it all now a days. Also follow-up with your reservation for price fluctuations. I booked well in advanced and on day of our arrival the suite, 2x the size of my room, was cheaper-baboozeled by the algorithm.

The garden area was beautiful and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was super clean and the location of the hotel was perfect. Close enough to walk to a lot of great places and landmarks, but just far enough out of the crowds to avoid noise.

No air conditioning, but there were two fans in the room and it was early June, so real heat of summer hadn't hit yet and we were comfortable. I could see it being a little more uncomfortable in the heat of summer.

The Splendid-Dollman exceeded my expectations - superb location (not touristy yet a very quick walk to Marienplatz), good continental breakfast buffet, clean and quiet room (mine faced the rear courtyard; the rooms at the front of the hotel face the street, which has a tram that runs along it), very comfortable bed and pillows, great water pressure, friendly and accommodating staff and housekeeping, charming library with a bar and tasty Christmas cookies. Also excellent value (especially if you reserve well in advance). I will definitely return!
