Staff were super. The person behind reception was really helpful. We needed to hire bikes which no-one knew where the hotel's bikes were. She (don't know her name sorry) persisted and helped find them and we got our bikes. Rooms were pretty good and place was very clean included common areas. There was a cold water machine installed in reception which may sound small but it was well used by all the ravers from the Stone festival as well as athletes there for an event. Would I stay again? Yes!

Breakfast!! Annoyingly it finished at 11 and by 10.15 thing had already disappeared off the buffet. To top it off, during the week it finished at 10 and we were unaware on Monday morning so we missed breakfast. At least the very lovely lady at reception refunded us the money which we had only paid the night before.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 days in May 2024. Modern, spotlessly clean, in a very good location (550 meters from the train station, 6-7 minutes walk and about 12 minutes from the center of Essen), the rooms are spacious, the breakfast was adequate and the quality of the soundproofing both inside and outside was excellent. Overall a very good hotel

.how much does a smile cost? And I am referring to the senior employee of the front desk on Monday 20 and Wednesday 22 May. The response that she had with the quests was borderline rude, there was no greeting, not even a single word and when she ended the (personal) phone call she did, she just looked at us. She didn't even talk to us, nothing. As many times during our stay as we entered or left the hotel and spoke to her (good morning, etc.) we didn't get any response as if we were invisible. What can I say? It's a shame for this hotel that if it wasn't for the specific lady, I would rate it 5/5.

I was pleasently surprised by this hotel. It's close to the train station and within walking distance from Aalto Theatre, the Philharmony and the shopping streets. It's right next to the rails on a very busy road, but the windows are pretty much sound-proof, so I had no problems at night, even on the 1st floor. My room was "the usual modern hotel chain" style, with mint colors and enough space and storage, the bath was super clean and had everything you need. So when the (competent and quick) staff asked me during checkout whether everything was OK, I thought for a moment and had really nothing to complain. I'm usually a bit picky and I ALWAYS find something, so that came to some surprise. And while the hotel isn't stunningly awesome like some fancy Berlin design hotel on a river bank or a 5-star Grand Hotel at the beach, what it does - providing central accommodation in an otherwise quite blunt city - it does very good.

Honestly, I didn't find anything. I didn´t have breakfast, so I don´t know about the food in this place, but everything else was good. Edit after a 2nd stay: this time I had a room towards the rails on a lower floor and I slept badly and woke up a few times as you could hear train horns several times at night. So slightly lower score for "location".

I go to Essen every year for a few days of board games (the Essen Spiel in October). For that purpose, the hotel is very convenient: great location, close to downtown and the convention; has its own (paid) parking lot; AMAZING breakfast (lots of warm and cold options, really well made and plentiful); tables to play games later on.

The rooms are not super comfortable: OK in general, but poor pillows, minibar not very useful; room service needs to be ordered the day before; etc. Service is ok too, but not particularly proactive (it’s very by the book). I did an upgrade this year (€60 for 4 nights) and it was basically the same.

We had some issue with the original room, but the staff found a fast and good solution. The room itself was big and clean. The parking is close to the hotel, 14 EUR per 24 hours, based on a free place there. The location is good, close to the city main streets and center.

They needs to be e bit better organized. The room was not ready at 15:00, but they found another one with baby crib. So it was OK.

Top location, near Center and stations, with a parking on site. Nice breakfast with Kaiserschmarn(I’m not sure I wrote it correctly but it tasted better than in a fancy restaurant I visited previously) Staff helpful and friendly, accepted our early check in without any extra charge

Railway nearby, although isolation is decent you can still hear the train passing by. When we first entered the room there was a weird smell a though the sanitary doesn’t work properly or someone used it recently. Otherwise- nice and clean. A bit too expensive in my opinion

Convenient for the train station, trams, bus, etc. Plenty of eateries etc in town & plenty of shops if that's your thing.

Essen is a decent place but not a lot to do once you have walked around town a couple of times. I used it as a base to see other towns, cities

The room was very attractively furnished, well equipped in terms of facilities.

My room (I cannot say if this is a general trend), was very cold and despite trying to increase the temperature, it kept defaulting back to 20 degrees- however it felt far colder. The air conditioning also kept beeping throughout the night which kept walking me up. I also found the breakfast very limiting as although there were gluten free options, being gluten and lactose free was very hard to navigate as the milk either had lactose or gluten (hafer milch is not gluten-fee, soya milk would have been more flexible), and there there was no lactose free yogurt options to accompany fruit. Given the price of the breakfast, it isn't worthwhile if you have dietary restrictions or allergies.

Great value for many. The staff was super nice. The hotel is good, clean, and has exactly what you need for a short stay in Essen and the surrounding area.

Not that the hotel can do anything about it, but the location is not that sympathetic. Typical surrounding of a central station in Germany.

Position is perfect to visit Essen, bed was cosy and breakfast was rich and of high quality. Staff of breakfast are really polite and delicate.

A member of the staff of reception behaved in a rude manner, refusing to continue to discuss about a question\doubt I presented on payment and the way the receipt was written. The hall of the hotel is, on my opinion, too cold, aseptic and empty, needs some easy-chairs.
