The room and bathroom were cleaned and tidy. Bedsheets were changed the next day. However the bed in room 304 third floor was not rigid on the ground. the whole bed slides across the floor with little pushing force. There are layer of textile material placed on the bed possibly to cushion the hardness of the mattress. I will suggest a complete mattress should replace the existing one. And for better customer service there should be a kettle, tea bags and sweeteners in the rooms so that guest at night can make hot drinks especially during the cold period. I lived in Essen for 20 years and whenever I am in Germany I intend to stay in Essen.

Room and Bathroom: small and tight but very clean and tydy (IBIS-like and hence, no complains). IBIS is like that and I appreciaate and understand how IBIS conducts business. I would do same.

There was really nothing I didn't like. All in all, it was a perfect place to stay.

Location, staff, and breakfast were very good. The whole facility offers anything you might need. The staff is very welcoming, helpful, and very kind. Rooms ACed, which is a great value during warmer days.

The bathroom was tight and small. Equipped with all necessary staff, yet cornered and tight. The rest of the room was big, comfortable and with steady good bed.

Super convenient location. Amazing value for money! Friendly staff even during check-in at night. Pleasant size of room.

Overall your standard Ibis hotel, with a VERY friendly staff (doesn't encounter it that often) and pretty komfy beds. Everything in regards to my stay was very smooth.

Unfortunately hotel rooms are not the fleshiest(hotel was built a while ago), but for the standard prices it is very good value for money, since everything was clean and working. Unfortunately I was there at a high demand (expo event) occasion and therefore cannot rate it as a best vfm.

The prices were on the higher side due to the Medica fair and lack of availability of rooms in nearby places to reach the venue

The conversations with the staff members, showing that there was little fluctuation and that they enjoy being part of the team. I got the impression that there was a strong identification with the hotel and a loyalty which to me seemed quite extraordinary in this day and age.

Bathroom is pretty small and awkward to use, TV could do with at least a few English language channels aside from the news

The hotel is very close to the train station and not far from the city center. It is no problem walking to most sights in the center, and it is a good base for day trips to other places in the Ruhr area, where many cities can be reached with a 30 minute train trip. The room was not big but well equipped and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the train tracks but windows are well sound proofed and trains were not disturbing. The brakfast buffet was good.

The hotel is a bit apart from other buildings, so late at night the area was deserted. There are no restaurants close by, but in the city center (10 minutes by foot away) there is plenty of choice, and at the train station some fast food and a supermarket is available.

Located close to the Hbf, but isolated from the noise of the train. Even though I had booked a twin room, the bed was close together so I could put them together.

Bed quite firm, but spacious.
