It's funny but I wasn't expecting much upon seeing the photos of the hotel, but it turned out to exceed my expectations. For some reason the exterior light blue color and the name "Blauer Karpfen" ("Blue Carp") gave me kind of a cheesy motel impression, but I reserved a room anyway because it was Oktoberfest time in Munich and everywhere else was fully booked or too expensive. Our stay was lovely. The woman at the reception was bubbly and helpful. Parking was free right in front of the hotel. The hotel has an elevator which is not as common as one may think in Europe, and was very much appreciated. Our room and bathroom were super clean and spacious and there was even a sofa. Everything was very comfortable.

The location is not super close to downtown Munich or the Oktoberfest, but the S-Bahn (public transportation) is only about a 5 minute walk away and can get you there quickly.

The room was spacious , clean , with a sofa . The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well designed . The staff were extremely nice and welcoming.

The breakfast was less than we expected. The hotel is in a beautiful location but on a busy road with heavy circulation all night long . You have to sleep with closed windows and then there is a good noise reduction.

Large clean room and a nice bathroom with lots of storage space. Friendly staff and a great breakfast with regional products. I would recommend and book it every time again.

The soap and shower gel were empty. Maybe they could refill it when they clean the room.

The staff provided very friendly service, and the room was clean and spacious.

The room's soundproofing wasn't very good — especially during the quiet of the night. If neighboring guests aren't mindful about lowering their voices, it can be quite bothersome.

We enjoyed the quiet room (not sure how full the hotel was but we haven't heard anyone, also not from the street - but the windows were closed) Breakfast was nice All the staff was very friendly and easy going Parking is either in front of the hotel or in closed parking behind There's a great Vietnamese restaurant just round the corner

After booking we were asked to provide the CVV code of our credit card to secure our booking - I declined and strongly recommend to everybody to do the same The room is on the smaller side but for one night it was absolutely fine The shower has no door, so the floor is all wet. 15 Euro for breakfast was a bit too steep in our opinion

Breakfast was always delicious and beautifully displayed. The location was perfectly positioned to walk between our family's home and the train/bus station. The restaurant next door was really convenient. To be able to walk to 3 palaces and a museum from the hotel was fabulous!

No wash cloths, but I knew that from trips to Europe, I brought my own.

Excellent late night checking in system. Also breakfast was great. Walkable to various restaurants, aircraft museum & large house and estate.. Very convient for access to Munich and the Airport.

the situation was great just beside beautiful palace with lots of lovely walks. hotel was also very clean.

Furniture, curtains etc were all a bit tired and could do with upgrading. Beds very hard and downies very heavy. We asked for rooms on high floor away from stairs and lifts but we’re given rooms on ground floor next to lift, stairs, breakfast room and reception. This meant that there was a lot of disturbance late at night when people returned and early morning when breakfast was being set up. unfortunately , employees were also allowed to smoke outside front automatic doors and the smoke made its way into hotel and our rooms. this was particularly uncomfortable. Noisy and little sound proofing for showers , banging doors etc.

We were a group of rowers from Athlone Boat Club in Ireland attending the European masters regatta. The hotel was in a great position to get to a from the regatta course. 5mins walk to bus stop and just a 15min journey. The onsite restaurant was excellent ,beautiful food and very reasonably priced. Most important was the friendly staff in the hotel.

NOT A THING

The hotel is very old, but well maintained. Location was excellent. The staff was amazing. The bathroom was a little odd with a sliding glass door, but that was fine. There was some road noise, but it was not bad.

The beds were extremely hard, but we were so tired that night it really didn't matter. The mattress on the pull out sofa was softer than the beds. If we had stayed multiple nights the beds might have been to firm for us.
