The room was very well designed and spacious, with an amazing view from the balcony. It was also very well located, with the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora within a 20 minute walk.

The flush on the toilet would overspill the basin and splash on the floor. They responded very quickly, sending a technician the following morning, but the problem persisted. We let them know again that afternoon, and they told us to flush the toilet with the lid open instead. We tried this, but it didn't fix the problem. We mentioned this for the last time on checkout, and while the staff thanked us for making them aware of the issue, they suggested we were pressing the button for too long (the problem still happened even when pressing the button as lightly as we could). Also, we read another review on here saying the same thing, so I'm not sure if steps will be taken to resolve the issue. (And the issue wasn't that small - having toilet water splash on your feet is not pleasant)

Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. Hairdyer and mini-fridge included. The location was perfect with easy access to Monastiraki, Plaka, Syntagma. and the Acropolis. Our view of the Acropolis was amazing, but not all rooms have this view. Communication about check-in and check-out, airport transfers, etc. were all very good, utilizing Whatsapp.

Although, this shouldn't turn potential travelers away, be prepared for stairs and a small elevator. It's just the nature of buildings in the city. Also, there isn't a classic hotel lobby with a person getting you at the desk. They utlitize keypads and proximity cards to open doors. Again, it shouldn't affect your stay - just so you know.

The location was amazing. Great view of the Acropolis from our balcony. Right in the middle of everything. Could walk to everything. Great style of the room, cool and convenient lighting. Outlets near the bed and desk. Beautiful large shower and bathroom. Sadly never tried the included breakfast, but the items on the menu looked great. Staff were really nice and helpful.

Our touchpad for guest services never worked. Noise from the hall could be loud when other guests returned to their rooms, some sound dampening in the halls would be great. Also the room could use more places to hang things. There was not enough places to hang the towels, and bathrobes, let alone anything we brought like jackets or bags. But these were all quite minor and we hardly noticed these issues.

If view is your priority, go here! Altar is in an amazing location with views from virtually every room. The staff were very kind when I tripped on the stairs, and they were amazing to organize transportation and store luggage for me. Room was basic but clean and comfortable with bathrobes and toiletries provided.

Staff weren't there when I arrived (late), but I managed to get into the room fairly easily. If you're looking for more of a true hotel this isn't the spot. They also couldn't accommodate flexibility with check out time at all which would have been super helpful for me. There's no privacy on the balconies as you're right next to a restaurant and other rooms. Maybe this isn't typical but no hair dryer in my room. Overall for the price, I think there are better options with views of the acropolis, but I enjoyed the close proximity and last minute availability Altar offered, and the kindness of the staff.

The location is perfect with an awesome view to Acropolis, nothing blocks the view from the room balcony. The room was very clean and good size for 2 people. It is a walking distance from anything you would like to visit in Athens. The hotel stuff was very helpful in any ask we had (we didn’t have to many 😊), we were looking to get a more local tavern recommendations within a walking distance, and the reception lady just wrote down to us few options, and the one we chose was just perfect, Tavern Klimataria https://maps.app.goo.gl/TaZD9mtACVH6yh95A?g_st=iw , with live music, great food and mostly local diners , at least when we were there.

Nice room, Comfortable bed spacious bright and clean. Balcony view of Acropolis is stunning. Location with room at the rear was very quiet.

It was a bit difficult to find as it is access via a public walkway only and not well sign posted. As we arrived via car we could not be dropped off out front and struggled to pinpoint via google maps. Might be useful for this to be relayed from property before arrival. No Privacy from Adjoining room balcony. (as it would block their view) and the only space with chairs. A tad weird that you need to shower in a seperate wet room, exit into main room to transfer to the bathroom itself.

Our stay at Altar Suites was an absolute highlight of our European holiday. The view of the Parthenon from our room was breathtaking – especially at night when it was beautifully lit. We had the most comfortable sleep of our entire trip; the bed and linens were exceptional. The room was spotless, quiet, and offered a peaceful retreat from the city’s buzz. The location was perfect for exploring Athens, yet felt tucked away enough to relax. Highly recommend for anyone wanting comfort, cleanliness, and an unforgettable view. We’d return in a heartbeat!

Modern design and amenities, no issues with the rooms, Check-In and cleanliness. Great view towards the Acropolis and other historic landmarks. Location was fine, a lot of different restaurants and cafes close by as well as the market.

Unfortunately there was some noise during the night from surrounding bars which played music until late. It was noticeable, but not loud enough to hinder you from sleeping. Same with the noise in hallways and staircase from the hotel, as the interior walls don’t seem to isolate you from the sounds outside of the room very well.

I started my Greek holiday at Altar and had such a wonderful experience that I made sure I stayed there when I made my way back to Athens at the end of my trip. Staff were so helpful each time and went out of their way to help with the little things like ordering taxis that were there before the stated time. Rooms are beautifully appointed and everything works (can’t say that about all my accommodation on this trip). Location makes finding food and shopping easy with no need to use transport but the knockout offering was the view. It was hard to say goodbye but I’ll definitely be back at Altar

Altar suites is very central within easy walking distance of 2 metro stations, Monastiraki markets, the Acropolis and the main tour bus stop. My room and bed were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Although very lively outside in the evenings the rooms are well insulated from the noise and I slept well. The hosts (Chris, Sabrina and Notis) are very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.

The Acropolis view from the balconies is unobstructed (and stunning) but the lower floor balconies are very close to the roof bar next door. For more privacy on the balcony it's best to book a room on the upper 2 floors.
