Very beautifully situated hotel overlooking the lake and surrounding volcanos. The restaurant is pretty good and has nice seating overlooking the pool(s) and the property. There are lots of locals selling handmade goods outside for cheap prices, which I really liked. Its also very easy to get to Pana from here from where you can take the public lanchas to the surrounding villages. The room was very comfortable with a really nice balcony from which you could see the lake. We also liked that breakfast was included (continental) and the thermal bath of the hotel below the pool.

I think that the prices are relatively high for middle class hotels in general in Guatemala (Ive had much cheaper ones in the U.S for example).

An oasis of calm with a stunning view, in a small local village with access to the dock to do easy boat tours around the lake. Kudos to the chef- all meals we ate were delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Only complaint would be that not all rooms ( we travelled with family so occupied more than one room) had a fan, despite it being February, it was very warm inside. Maybe this aspect could be made clearer when booking the room. They were able to arrange a comfortable and safe transfer from Guatemala City - tip do this through a direct what’s app message with the main hotel chain who run this hotel if you do not speak Spanish.

Fans in all the rooms should be provided. Otherwise, nothing else. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

This hotel is really beautiful. It's location just off of the lake, yet a few steps from a very interesting Mayan town square is incredible. And the volcano views!!! I thought the restaurant was very good. Excellent service and very nicely presented. You're going to pay a little more, but you get the convenience of not having to leave the hotel. Breakfast was great! I will be back.

The view from the property is lovely, and the landscaping and pools are nice. One pool is heated and the other is not, so it was nice to be able to get into warm water. The included breakfast was good, and we ate dinner at the restaurant one night which was also good. We were glad that we stayed in Santa Catarina which is quieter and more authentic than some of the other lake towns that cater more towards backpackers and tourist, but that meant that there weren't many options for food nearby or things to do at night. We ate dinner in Panajachel and then took a cheap ,15 minute tuk tuk ride back to Santa Catarina at night.

It would have been nice to have a fan in the room as it was very hot during our stay. The only ventilation was having the patio door wide open which is not secure and it was loud at night.

Attentive staff. Location and views are the best. Breakfast was always nice so were other meals. Regular pool as well as hot Springs naturally warm/hot pool. Location is great to explore Santa Catarina and beyond.

They do not offer early check-in (I know most places is subject to availability, but here it is just not an option paid or not) would have been nice for some of us who arrive early due to transport. Information about rooms could be clearer in booking.com regarding views, I chose a standard room because it seemed like other rooms wouldn't have a good view of the lake. After being there I could see which rooms don't have a view (some junior suites) but other types were good too.

The hotel felt quite authentic with lots of locals on the staff. Enjoyed the Guatemalan breakfast but they do have different options. Lovely pool and just steps away from the artisanal market. A little hike away guests can find great viewpoints of the Atitlan lake and the surrounding mountains.

Definitely easier to make oneself understood in Spanish than in English. A little bit hard to access, either with a tuk-tuk from Panajachel or a private boat, public boats do not go to Santa Catarina Palopo.

The hotel is so beautiful. The grounds are full of flowers and plants, lovely hanging lights in the evening. The rooms and restaurant are colourful, pristine, and overall a wonderfully decorated space. Both pools were great, the hot springs pool was a nice surprise. The view from every balcony is incredible. Located in Santa Catarina means it is away from the busyness of Pana. Santa Catarina is a quiet town almost exclusively full of locals. However you can find locally made crafts by artisans in the co-op, you can walk the waterfront path to the natural hot springs on the lake, hike up to the mirador, and if you decide you want a night on the town, you can very easily get a tuk tuk to Pana at all hours. Both the staff at the hotel and the locals in town were incredibly kind and friendly.

This hotel offers incredible scenery and large rooms at a very affordable price. I will never forget the level of service we received from the hotel staff. Our rental car failed to start when we went to pack up the car. The hotel staff tried to help jump start the car, with no luck. After calling the roadside assistance and getting no support from our rental company, the hotel organized a taxi for us to return to Guatemala City rather than wait another 3 hours for the tow truck. The Hotel Villa Santa Catarina offers a higher end stay at an affordable price. If you don’t mind being away from the action of the larger towns, then this is a fantastic place to stay.

the pool closes at 8 which is very early, most hotels in the US dont close until 10, even 9 would be better. the "free" breakfast was OK, but there weren't many other options nearby so it was fine. ceiling fans in the room would really help keep with airflow and heat since there is no AC. the city is very quiet, not a lot going in terms of places to go or restaurants, so if you dont want to eat or stay at the hotel you have to go to Panajachel. Same for activities, tours all leave from Pana.

Beautiful grounds, great view of the lake and the volcanoes. We had several breakfasts, one dinner, and some cocktails at the restaurant. The quality was good and the staff very attentive. The natural thermal pool was a big bonus! They drain it at night and refill it each morning, so it was always crystal clear.

There are not many dining options in the little town of Santa Caterina. But it is easy to get to and from Panajachel via tuk tuk. Or in the daytime, colectivos run frequently. They are pick-up trucks, just hop in the back and pay the driver when you get off.
