From start to finish, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our room looked exactly as described. There was a mosquito plug in in our room, which was good as there were quite a few at night. It was so spacious and had a beautiful view from our balcony. The food was so good in the restaurant, we ate breakfast and dinner there every day. It was only a short walk to the main street.

The gap between the balcony doors lets mosquitos in, but that was only minor.

The scenery and pool were gorgeous. The staff were so friendly and accomodating to our needs. Breakfast included was great and well worth it. The bathroom was very ‘Bali experience’ with a bit of nature. I loved it and it was exactly what I was looking for.

The driveway to the hotel is a little further and hillier than we had expected- if we had researched better we probably would have known this ahead of time. The only reason this was an issue for us was because a family member had breathing difficulties going up and down the driveway hill. We had one room with a broken air conditioner and it was SO HOT and very humid. Air conditioning eventually got fixed after 2 days but we had already booked somewhere else with working air conditioning by the time it was fixed. At the time, reception and housekeeping could not guarantee it could be fixed. And, there were no rooms available to move to within the hotel as they were fully booked out. Not their fault, but we didn’t want to suffer without airconditioning!!

The most amazing hotel we stayed in as we had the river pool villa, with amazing views to the river and jungle. With your own pool and private area, you are alone there with some lizards at night. They have 24/7 reception as we arrived late and checked out early, which we were grateful for that. The room was spacious and clean, water was provided daily for you. For breakfast, you can choose from a set menu and order a day before, they cater any types of breakfasts, including traditional. We also went to a barbecue on the patio where they provided a buffet style balinese meal with traditional dances to view, at an extra cost. I also went to a balinese massage and I cannot recommend it more - full body pampering. It was under 300k idr Also, the staff was very kind to us, always cheerful and smiling.

The only thing I say should be done here is to refresh the shower area at the corners, it was the only thing that felt old in the room.

Somehow in need of a Renaissance keeping the artistic styles and magic, with a new perspective, local realism, in enhancing a renovating touch in the inside villa, keeping the harmonious architecture and fiery view. A great place to start your Bali experience ! a black hole to let go of your day to day city western life. I have one note that makes me go back a few seconds to the reality world : (room included full breakfast) the choice in the breakfast menu, I have to choose between to try an attractive desert part of the menu or a basket with croissant and bread to accompany my strong caffe latte, I was told the basket was 20,000 roupies extra (AU$2.00) ! Bucu is a place where nature is all in effect, money shall not intrusive your moment ... Having included AU$2.00 to my invoice without my knowledge would have been a smart acceptance ... Do not ask extra when you order on the menu, just charge the room direct, I mean it is all in Bucu honnour !

We stayed here for a 4 night relaxing stopover on the way to NZ, and it was the perfect place! Fabulous location in the forest, so peaceful yet only a 10 minute walk into the town, and we were able to explore the area on foot, including the monkey forest. The pool is beautiful and an absolute joy to lounge in with the views and sounds of the forest. Lovely covered restaurant area overlooking the pool and forest, a great start to the day having breakfast here. We also enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea here. The room was a good size, beautifully furnished and with a good sized balcony with seating, overlooking the extensive garden. The staff were very attentive. Go up onto the rooftop terrace for lovely sunset views. We enjoyed the BBQ and traditional dancing, and also had massages which were a good price. Would certainly stay here again.

Note that the access road to the hotel is unlit, steep and uneven, so bring a torch if venturing out at night.

We booked this hotel last minute due to a flight delay and having to check out of our accommodation elsewhere. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, the price was very reasonable, they made us feel so welcome. We ate in their lovely open air restaurant overlooking stunning views of the jungle and a beautiful infinity pool - such a peaceful vibe. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and provided all that we needed - ours also had a small verandah. The location is great, very central - but be warned there is a steep hill to reach the hotel and a lot of people (including us) get the two Bucu's mixed up (they are right near one another). Regardless, the staff from both hotels were very helpful in getting us and our luggage up the hill (they are only a minute's walk away from one another). Access for vans is tricky, but again the staff were super helpful at our pick up time and spoke to the driver for us to explain the location and access. None of it was hard and I would highly recommend this quite little gem - pool is amazing, staff are beautiful and we'd love to go back some day. If you are someone who needs to consider accessibility issues then this may not be the hotel for you but I am sure if you mentioned this to staff ahead of time they'd do their very best to help.

The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. There are rather a lot of steps to the room and my partner has minor mobility issues. The manager had a temporary stair rail constructed on the most difficult of these stairs which solved the problem and was much appreciated. The room was spacious and the private pool an absolute joy and especially welcome on returning from a hot and humid day out. Breakfast was served till 11am which was a bonus for late risers like me and the quality of the food was fine. Staff were attentive and charming. Room service was readily available and though the meals themselves were not perhaps quite as good as in the local restaurants, it was good to have the option and delivery was prompt and efficient. The grounds are very pleasant though not extensive and views from the room and restaurant delightful. Cleaning staff usually serviced the room whilst we were at breakfast so there was the minimum of inconvenience. There is a good selection of restaurants and bars in walking distance.

Obviously, lack of handrails on the many steps ( the management has promised to rectify this) and this is a problem common to a lot of hotels in the area and goes with the terrain. The restaurant is fine but perhaps not as attractive for evening dining as it might be. The track to the main road from the hotel was a bit challenging especially after heavy rainfall but adequately lit. The centre of town is a bit further from the hotel than indicated in some of the reviews and it takes longer because of the heavy scooter traffic and potholed pavements. This is my third visit to Ubud and regrettably some things have not improved ! That’s “progress”. Wine is fiendishly expensive (we live in France).

I went to celebrate my birthday and what a such experience! The hotel structure is amazing. Starting from the reception till the time to say bye, everything was great. The staff are so friendly and kind. The place is wonderful. We had the experience with the villa with a pool, and I was feeling myself in a paradise. The view from the restaurant was great, having a breakfast watching the squirrels and birds playing o the trees was so lovely. The food was delicious, the BBQ night as well. I am counting the days to go back to Bali and stay there again.

We did not find the Jacuzzi area.

The view was what we expected it to be .Lovely looking over the valley, hearing the sound of running water, squirrels and lots of frogs to be seen. We wanted something peaceful and quiet yet relatively close to Ubud centre which Bucu View is. Some nice bars down the road with reasonable bands, a good down home warung "Warung Ning"(definitely worth a visit) and the usual assortment of restaurant's, spa/massage and shops. Reception staff ,Okta, Jodi, Juni and all others helpful, polite and welcoming. The inhouse masseurs Aryu and Eluh were exceptional and we highly recommend them.

Stairs! Unfortunately the amount of stairs to get to the Valley View rooms was not mentioned on the website. If you have any issues with knee's, hips, ankles etc then this will not be comfortable. Stairs are poorly lit and no hand rails(not uncommon in Bali).A couple of maintenance issues-room safe was not bolted to the wall and sliding doors to patio area lacked a key for the lock. It had a latch but this is not really sufficient for security.. The road leading into the resort is undergoing repairs and building construction. It is poorly lit and alot of potholes. This is obviously not Bucu's fault nevertheless it is something to be aware of.

Beautiful infinity pool and view on the valley. Location very good - close to restaurants, shops etc. still calm. Tropical scenery, kind personal. They helped us with scooter rental etc.

Breakfast is a bit annoying - you need to order from breakfast menu in advance for next day and set a time when you want the breakfast. After that you come next day in the defined time and still need to wait like 20 minutes to get your breakfast. The food itself was very delicious and the restaurant was also nice.
