Our stay was incredibly comfortable, and we owe a big thanks to the friendly staff. The option to choose our breakfast was a definite plus. While the location isn't within walking distance of the city center, you can easily take a taxi or use a bike. However, if you're looking for a quiet place with picturesque scenery, it's a worthwhile trade-off. One of our top priorities was effective isolation from the outside animal world, and we're pleased to say that we didn't encounter any large insects inside the room. Nice private pool.

A bit noisy with the frogs and wildlife so some included ear plugs or a white noise machine would be excellent. The roof leaked on us during our massage and then the entire next day the roof was being replaced so we didn't have access to our villa. Totally out of the staff's control being a new hotel and not really experiencing rain yet, but I did expect we would receive some sort of discount on our stay due to that huge inconvenience. Villas also need to have a few more amenities, specifically a full length mirror, tissues, lotion, and conditioner.

We loved the outside pool area, the view was beautiful! We spent a morning in the pool but most of the days were spent out of the villa exploring. The bathroom was spotless, the shower had a gorgeous floor patter and was nice and hot. We got clean towels everyday which was very appreciated! Gede and his team are fantastic at making you feel welcome and comfortable in asking for anything you need. Breakfast was served every morning in your villa or in the breakfast area near reception. Food choices were good! We got taxis to and from the centre averaging 70,000 per ride and 10 mins in. So very reasonable if you don’t fancy the scooters.

We loved everything but if you are not a nature lover in the dark, there are lots of animal sounds due to it being a hut. However, we did not come across any animals inside our room, and it was always so clean!!

Nothing. I had seen complaints about noise and mosquitos. Yes it was noisy at night and yes I got bitten but you are in the middle of the jungle, it's 100% expected. It was nothing some ear plugs and spray couldn't sort!

Breakfast was very good but not very filling, could be richer At night you hear a lot of animal sounds around, although the villa is pretty isolated and they don't get in. I think a monkey walked on our roof and woke us up. This is normal for a house in the jungle and nothing the hosts could possibly do, of course.

Portobello Villas was the perfect little slice of luxury in the jungle. Tucked away in a peaceful corner of Ubud, it offered everything we needed for a relaxing stay — modern comforts, thoughtful design, and a real sense of calm. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was ideal: close enough to the heart of Ubud for exploring, but far enough out to escape the hustle and bustle. Everything! The property is absolutely beautiful, close enough to the centre of ubud by car/scooter but far enough away that you feel totally in the jungle. Gede and his team couldn’t have looked after us any better. Breakfast was delicious, service was impeccable and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The pool is a highlight!

- it's very noisy, there's a construction site nearby that starts at 8:30 a.m., trees are being cut, knocking, and I can't relax by the pool because of the noise. The construction is going on all day long -Alas, all towels with stains (it's unpleasant, I'm surprised they won't buy good bleach - it is very humid in the villa, the bed linen is wet -the nearest good European cafe is a 30-minute walk away -very slippery floors, especially after the pool - like on ice, there are not enough mats in the bedroom -not very clean, especially the floors in the bathroom area There are a lot of cobwebs and dirt in the pool and veranda area.

Of all the accommodations I have stayed at in my life, Portobello's service is the best I have experienced. All the staff are so friendly and really care about making your trip a pleasant one. They communicate to you via WhatsApp which makes things so easy. You can ask if you have any questions or require any additional services. If you have ever wanted to stay in a tree house, looking at nature, this is the place to stay. We saw some many Finches, Kingfishers, varieties of butterflies, a Komodo Dragon and even squirrels climbing up the trees. You really do get to live amongst nature so be prepared with some Bushman's (insect repellent), we loved it. The mosquitos in the room weren't a massive deal if you keep the bathroom door closed and use the net on the bed to sleep. The pool was lovely and an oasis after seeing the sights. The breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and was really nice to try Indonesian cuisine. It's not a buffet but I liked that there wasn't as much wastage and you choose the meal you want everyday. You can choose from a variety of fresh juices, tea/coffee, fruit platter/parfait and 1 main meal (nasi goreng, pancakes etc - mix of western and Indonesian).They also have dinner and room service if needed, and you can order Grab meals to the accommodation if needed too. I'm glad we didn't stay anywhere else. For the price I can't imagine you'd find a better place for a nature-filled experience and incredible service.

There was no tv in our room but we brought our laptop and that was good enough for us.

Ahead of our stay we arranged an airport collection via the accommodation. We were met at the airport by Imade (following our delayed flight) who was very welcoming and ensured we were comfortable for our journey. Upon arrival, the team at Portobello had stayed after hours to greet us and take us to our villa. The villa was beautifully made, comfortable and private. Communication from the staff was impeccable throughout our stay. The room was always clean and we felt right at home. We loved having our own private pool and enjoyed the quiet of the area in Ubud. Imade was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, he went above and beyond with our taxi journeys, even taking us via the Courts of Justice on our way to Padang Bai and talked through the history of Bali with us. He truly is a credit to Portobello Villa.

Whilst breakfast was always delicious and well prepared, both my husband and I were not big fans of the juice at breakfast, however this comes down to personal preference. Unfortunately during our stay we experienced some very heavy rain (which was lovely to hear on the roof of our cabin and made for a very peaceful sleep), however it did cause a leak via our air con. The staff were quick to deal with this and had a maintenance person look into it.
