We are just home from a 2 day stay. We were 3 families in total. We absolutely loved our stay, the staff in every area of the Darnley lodge were fantastic!! The atmosphere is warm and inviting kids are very much welcomed. The meals we had were all delicious and could not be faulted in any way. We had decided before we even checked out that we would definitely be returning again. I have to say it was above all the staff that make this place so homely and they are a huge reason we would like to return also! Places like yours are far and few between.

Bath water ran hot then cold , could not fill the bath at the time required.hot water was more consistent later in the evening. Taps in room 12 (sink) are flimsy and move when trying to turn on/off. A shelf would be very handy to put toiletries on in bathroom. Net Curtain in room could be refreshed. I wanted to give a good honest review, this in no way dampened our stay but will hopefully be helpful feedback 😊

Perfect for visiting family in Athboy. Staff were amazingly friendly and so helpful, couldn't do enough for you. We stayed in room 1, and the bed was so comfy! We've stayed here many times as the location is perfect for us, on Saturday night there was live music in the bar, which was great. Free on site car park, which is entered through security gate and you are given a code to enter to depart. Always feel at home here.

Only gripe and it's a small one - natural yogurt at breakfast please. The Darnley do an amazing breakfast selection so there is something for everyone, but that's all I missed, but down to personal preference,

When we arrived we were greeted very kindly by the receptionist and to myself and my families delight we got a free upgrade to our room. The room was beautifully vintage style decorated and the beds were so cosy. All the staff were very friendly and had a very jolly atmosphere during our stay. The food at the bar was lovely too and the staff love a good chat. Lovely place to stay.

The private parking was a little tight to get into from a main road and the space to drive in can get complicated if a car is to get out from the car park while you are going in and vice versa. But all and all its a lovely hotel.

Wonderful Hotel, this is my second visit in the last two weeks, staff are very friendly and approachable couldn’t do enough to make my stay more comfortable. I was upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. Food, accommodation, ambience was exceptional. It was like a home from home special thanks to Joe and Mary that added that extra little touch to my stay, but all the staff are great and deserve a mention as they look after their guests very well. Looking forward to my next stay in 2025 when I return from Asia. RK.

Wonderful hotel for exploring the Boyne Valley. Perfect for the first night if you are arriving late in Dublin. Older property with charm, great food and drinks, tasty breakfast and even live music on weekends. Easy parking behind the hotel. Courteous staff. Athboy is a nice little town. Would visit again.

Nothing worth mentioning. It is an older property as mentioned so not the place if you demand the latest in high tech and design, but why would you.

We stayed here Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary, such a beautiful hotel with the nicest, friendliest staff, from the minute we walked into the hotel we were treated like royalty, we were actually upgraded to the honeymoon suite by the lovely Stephanie( thank you so much) everything exceeded our expectations, the food was fantastic as was the service there was even a certificate on our table wishing us a happy anniversary, there isn't many hotels around that would go to all that trouble for their guests , by far the best hotel I've stayed in I cannot recommend highly enough. I would like to thank all the staff & management of the Darnley lodge for making our stay a truly memorable one . Adela & Alan

There was nothing to dislike

The staff from the owner, reception, housekeeping, and kitchen could not have been friendlier, helpful and were all more than welcoming. The rooms are spotless, they have all the things you might need and more. The restaurant has excellent food and very reasonably priced. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more and look forward to going back to enjoy the atmosphere soon.

Not one think was negative

The staff were exceptional. Couldn’t do enough. Just the best ever! Breakfast was a delight too. Had a very early start and chef came in especially early to take care of us. Marvellous.

The bed was a double, and the room could easily have accommodated a king size. I’d say the mattress had seen a fair bit of action over the years and needed to be replaced.

Town centre hotel obviously very popular locally. My room was quiet, at the back of the hotel, and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. Heating is by electric panel radiators which were more than up to the task. Large car park to the rear. The staff are, without exception, charming., and the building has a very nice ambience.

Breakfast was a bit of a letdown, to be honest. Bacon on day one was dry and tough, eggs benedict on day two served on charred muffins. Food has always been the Darnley's Achilles heel - adequate rather than impressive - although I imagine the problem is the perennial one of staff shortages.

Lady on reception was the nicest , friendliest most accommodating lady I have ever met. Her alone would would get a 10/10 from me. From the moment we entered from the minute we left she couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Really impressed with the size of our room. Bathroom and room we’re spotless. Convenient free parking to come and go as you please. If we are in the area again we will most definitely stay again.
