Breakfast was fine. Our room (644) was superb even if some of the furniture was a bit worn.

It was tedious not to be able to check in before 4pm.

V hard to get parking near the hotel and weather was not good

3 stayed here for 4 nights. we stayed in the new building and it was quiet.. room was big enough for me, and the hubby bedroom cleaned while we were there if needed tea and coffee in the room every day nice white towels and robes and slippers to use to go to the pool. Breakfast was a very good choice.. We had dinner on the 3 nights of the night, which was nice..

It would have been good to have a different soup every day. Instead, it was vegetable soup every day.. The parking was a bit awkward. At times, to find a parking space, we had to park down by they bottom. It's a bit awkward for disabled people. Could do with some more disabled spots and more parking places near the hotel..

All the staff were very friendly. Including the restaurant The spa and pool facilities were excellent. Room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was excellent great choice of fresh fruit and grilled breakfast.

The only criticism we would have of the whole hotel would be the restaurant. The first night we ate in the bar and was good value. On our second night we ate in the restaurant. In our opinion the menu choice was only fair. The plates were cold for the main course, portions were small , a serving of vegetables was put on the table to share between the two of us. There was only one small head of broccoli about the size of a golf ball to share. For the money we paid for the meal it wasn’t good value and when you consider the effort that goes into the running of rest of the hotel it was a shame. We would return to the hotel but not to the restaurant

We were there for a wedding and the staff were exceptional. The food was amazing. There was no delay in serving the food with all courses arriving for everyone on the table at the same time. The food was piping hot too. We really enjoyed the wine tasting and cocktail making. I think it could be advertised more so that more could enjoy it. we saw it by chance on the board as you walk towards the restaurant. Afternoon tea was lovely too.

When we arrived there was only one large towel in the bathroom. I spoke with reception and a bundle of towels was left outside the door. I would have expected them to have been left in the room. Our tea. coffee etc wasn't topped up sufficiently, leaving only one sachet of coffee and not enough milk. Just little things but I felt housekeeping weren't as efficient as the other staff.

V busy place, lots to see and do and yet not chaotic atmosphere. Very relaxing. Such a range of guests and yet all catered for from families with young children to older adults. Plenty of places to sit and chill and spa and pool gave it upmarket feel. Room lovely and bright, huge and very well appointed. Food plentiful and tasty. The serving staff good, particularly in restaurant. Easy to get to and lots more to do the next time as didn't manage all this time!

Hudson Bay hotel is a fantastic hotel. We stayed in a family room overlooking the bay and it was so spacious and comfortable. Receptionist greeted us and was so accommodating. We enjoyed gorgeous food in the bar restaurant and the bar manager and staff were so nice and friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Breakfast was also gorgeous and no delays. Staff were amazing. The swimming pool area was fabulous and the staff at the leisure centre were very nice and helpful. Accommodation staff were on the ball . Our rooms were cleaned while at breakfast. We enjoyed bay sports in-front of the hotel also. Such a luxury to have at the doorstep, we will definitely be back 😀

Room on ground floor - quiet, spacious & comfortable. Go green programme. Breakfast - great variety. Bar - efficient staff. Food - tasty. Manager - engaging & genuine. Leisure centre - good. Drinking water fountain - lovely & cold. Spa massage - Mervin was great. Relaxation area fab. Boat leaves directly outside for Athlone.

Cold water shower in leisure centre not working. Locals say it is like that a long time. Only 1 x guided tour at 10am to the end of walkways. Early start - rushed breakfast. Hodson bay sports not available to residents. Booked out by kids groups. Access to lake swim limited due to kayaks. Spa area could do with upgrade of water features. Plunge pool etc.

The hotel is nicely placed on the shoreline and it was easy enough to get parking. The rooms are a generous size. I asked for a twin room when booking through a 3rd party and even though this wasn't a choice when I checked in online, a twin was laid aside for us on arrival. The staff were helpful and explained everything cheerfully even down to the directions to a separate dining room the following morning for breakfast.The view from the room was a staff carpark but the weather was so dismal it didn't matter. Everywhere was clean and warm. The breakfast was great with lots of choice. It had a retro vibe we thought. It was good value for the price as we booked with just a few days notice. Overall a good experience and we would be happy to recommend the hotel to others.

We had to park in the carpark on the shoreline, so by the time we got to the entrance, through the torrents of rain, with our luggage, we were wet. Maybe an extended covered walkway to the road would help with that.

We did not eat in the restaurant because we had family/friends in nearby Ballyforan and joined for main meals each day. However, we did have breakfast every day in the breakfast room and the staff were extremely friendly, polite, smart and helpful - we would like to make a special mention of Roisin whose very friendly welcoming each morning made a good start to each day. Food selection was very good and tasty. Cannot be faulted.

Would have liked a "fridge" in our room.
