Excellent location in the town. I have to say the housekeeping staff, breakfast staff and reception staff are so polite and friendly. The young girl behind the bar on Thursday night 24/07/25 had no manner and was very rude, I had family members staying in another hotel and they came down to meet me for drink and we explained to this bar tender that she had taken a full drink of the table, she came over with another drink and banged it of the table we were shocked. Everything was great except for this bar tender. The best rooms are the rooms with a balcony. Clonakility is a beautiful town but hadnt much time to see it all as I was there for a wedding.

The room was spacious and quiet with a lovely view of the courtyard. The hotel was full of old photos of the family, Michael Collins and others from Irish history. Breakfast was lovely and filling. The location was wonderful as was the service in general; staff at reception were welcoming and helpful and gave me tips on where to go. A woman from reception saw me walking to Incheydoney and gave me a lift; the beach was wonderful and very clean. I had a great swim.
In the evening I asked if my food could be heated up and an older man on the staff/family said no; he was rude to me. I was not informed prior to my stay that a microwave and mini fridge would be available in my room and when I asked, was told they had run out. The bed was big but mattress a bit hard.

This is my favorite hotel and my 2nd time in 2 years returning here! The staff is the best and the area is safe and fun to walk around. Lots of pubs with food and live music. Tom and the staff at O'Donovan's are the best!! On a side note, I needed a Dr and visited Dr. Maloney down the street, and he helped me out. They provide water and coffee/tea in the room. The pub downstairs has food/drinks and music on some nights. The free breakfast is huge and so nice they offer all that food for free. The waitress can take requests as well if you want something special. I love O' Donovan's and the people are so friendly and kind!
Nothing. We will be back soon!!:)

Due to bad weather and ditching plans for camping, I made an emergency booking for Donovans hotel. Considering I had little planned and our dog with us, I was absolutely blown away with our room, one of the most comfortable beds and pillows I've come across in a long time. Being allowed to keep our dog with us was just amazing, and all staff couldn't have been nicer and helpful to us. I've been to Donovans restaurant many times and as always the food and service didn't disappoint. The rooms, though, are a complete surprise and totally beyond my expectations. Can't wait to stay again.
Nothing at all, was a perfect few days apart from the weather.

Love everything about this beautiful property. Central location, bus from Cork stops right out front. Amazing choice of delicious options for the B&B breakfast always served with a warm welcome from the delightful staff. My room was spotlessly clean with a very cozy bed. O'Donovan's is the hub of the community for all your wants and needs. Dena O'Donovan and her family have wonderfully operated this fine establishment for many many Decades with pride and love that shows in every aspect. I am truly impressed with their exceptional staff in every department. Make sure you book your stay on a day with brilliant "Trad" music in their pub. Brilliant ❤
I didn't like that I wasn't staying longer 😥☘

O’Donovan’s is a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Clonakilty. The historic hotel is charming and quaint, and the perfect place from which to explore the town. My visit to O’Donovan’s was also my first time in Clonakilty and the night before my brother’s wedding. I received a warm welcome on arrival and all staff were lovely throughout my short stay. Special thank you to Robin for excellent communication before I arrived and to Dena for being such a kind and helpful host. My room was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Tastefully decorated with a small balcony and it was such a treat to enjoy a view over Recorder’s Alley and An Teach Beag. The room came with a bath, toiletries and fully stocked tea tray with water, Barry’s Tea and biscuits. I ate lunch, dinner and breakfast on site at O’Donovan’s. Even at busy times staff were very efficient and polite, with food delivered to the table piping hot and without delay. As a vegetarian I was really pleased with the selection and I especially enjoyed the cooked veggie breakfast with soda bread. I really recommend O’Donovan’s and would be delighted to stay again one day.

We loved everything about staying here. The staff was very welcoming and the rooms were large, very comfortable and clean. One of our rooms was a “family” room with 3 large beds which suited the family perfectly. The location is wonderful for walking around the town. Breakfast is plentiful and superb. The live traditional music which we saw and heard upon our arrival was a wonderful surprise and after we got situated, some of us went down to enjoy more. We bought some sandwiches to take with us that were made to order and were delicious. We loved it here, and would definitely return.

I travelled to Clonakilty with my son who has a diagnosis of ASD, he was due to have an assessment early the next morning. I was nervous about the long commute down knowing that he would be tired and also, about the stay in the hotel as he struggles with sensory issues and can become overwhelmed and very anxious in different environments. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere of the hotel was so relaxing and quiet, the staff were so friendly and even chatted with him in reception, making him feel very special and welcomed. The rooms were immaculate and spacious and the beds were very comfy too. Our breakfast was perfect and again, the staff there were brilliant and made sure that we had all that we needed! The location of the hotel was ideal for where we needed to travel to the next morning, and as we were right in the middle of the town it was also close to everything else. Our only regret is that we couldn't extend our stay at the hotel to enjoy the fantastic music at the end of the evening and explore the beautiful surrounding landscape, but we look forward to visiting O'Donovans again soon!
There was honestly nothing to dislike, the hotel was lovely

The whole experience was absolutely fantastic. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The hotel itself is charming and cosy, with a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. My room was spacious, full of light, airy, and incredibly comfortable. One real highlight was the pub on the hotel grounds; it had great character and featured excellent live music. Breakfast was generous and satisfying, and the location can’t be beaten. Honestly, no notes. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Nothing.

We loved the host and employees, the breakfasts, and the great location. We had the best room we could imagine with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen, and spacious dining-living area. We really enjoyed the Tuesday traditional Irish music night in the pub.
The beds didn't have box springs, so they were a bit saggy, and moved a lot when we moved around in our sleep which woke us up at times. There need to be some hooks on the backs of the bathroom doors for hanging the towels to dry. We would have liked more counter space in the bathrooms which are big enough to accommodate this.
