The lodges are fantastic - we had a 3 bed, all of which are ensuite, comfortable and clean. We had bar food in the Clubhouse, which was good but the breakfast was really excellent. Great choice and of really good quality. The staff in general were really friendly (with the exception of the Receptionist in the Castle). The staff in the private dining room were excellent - they did a super job and were so professional, kind & accommodating.

We had dinner in the Castle itself, in the 1180 restaurant. It was a 3 course set menu for approximately €78, with two choices per course. We had previously asked for one vegetarian and one children's meal, when making the booking. The kitchen was never notified of this ahead of our arrival so the vegetarian was given a plate of carrots for the main course, also at €78. The portion sizes were very small and bowls of mashed potato were served as an accompaniment to the meal - no vegetables. The quality of the food again was very good but for that kind of price, you would expect a more generous size portion and better sides.

It was just such a lovely place to bring my mum and my two children for her birthday celebration. The Castle is spectacular (if like me you love Castles that is), the staff esp Séamus were very friendly and chatty. The accomodation manager was very helpful topping up our tea and milk supplies etc. The views of the Golf course outside our room in the distance was just lovely to see and to feel you are really in nature. The Golf club shop staff was very friendly and informative. Now I have to say the best part for me aside from the Castle was the food, it was delicious. The breakfast was one of the nicest breakfasts I've ever had in a hotel type setting. The options were great and there was no queuing (8:45am). What I really liked was the fact that we were still catered for despite there being a big wedding on that same weekend. I really recommend this place for couples and families, a quick hint bring extra snacks and treats to keep the kids happy if you are staying in the lodges and if you really wanted to save money you could actually bring some food as the the lodges are like self catering apartments. We stayed in the deluxe family room which consisted of two big rooms, a living room come kitchen with three peice suite TV etc and a king size bed in bedroom with en suite. A ground floor patio with patio furniture and a huge green space with evergreen trees outside. Everything within walking distance there is no need to leave the Demense, try the Castle by day and by night for dramatic stunning views.

Our lodge was very big and so calm with a view to the woods, which was very calming during our stay. The bed was very comfy, we also received a baby cot, the kitchen had more to offer than expected. The castle and its ambiance are charming, lots of green and very calm in general. The personal was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included in the price and it left nothing to be desired. The breakfast room is in the castle itself, which let us feel the castle, too, although we stayed in the lodge. The lodge was clean. The blanket was very useful in the cold morning. The lodges are quite near to the castle (it looks further afar in the pictures).

The couch had a stain on it, which is probably not removable. The reception for the lodges are in the castle. It'd be convenient to have this mentioned beforehand, so people do not drive to the lodges directly. The sink in the bathroom has two taps, you have to mix cold and hot water in the middle by yourself.

Castle and surrounding gardens are fabulous. We loved fine dining restaurant located in the castle and Spa was also very nice. Our room in Lodges was spacious and clean, with nice green terrace with plenty of space for child to run around. Very clean and comfortable for family stay. Beautiful place to walk around, even if you don't play golf.

Lodges have very thin walls so if your neighbours upstairs are not sleeping at night - (which was our unlucky scenario), you might not get much sleep as well. Room description says room service is available, but it was not for Lodges.

We stayed in the Lodges as we travelled with our 8 month old so needed access to kitchen facilities. The kitchen was very clean and tidy and met all our needs. The lodge was very spacious and comfortable. We will definitely visit again.

When checking in we were advised that breakfast was reserved for 10.15am and asked if that time was suitable. As my husband needed to be up early to travel home for work we requested an earlier time slot which unfortunately could not be accommodated. I thought this was very disappointing.

Beautiful property. So spacious and clean! Great choices for breakfast.

The room was just average, nothing spectacular or what I was expecting given the overall property itself; therefore in my opinion I feel the charge for the room was over priced. Also, although most staff were very friendly and helpful. I did have an issue with a staff member who would not assist with calling a taxi for me when I arrived at the train station in Athy even though in an email received by them I was told to contact the reception if I needed a taxi.

I loved everything about my stay. Andrew from the bar was great and loved joking around with us. Glen at the restaurant had us all laughing. The receptionist at check in was really accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed a day of golf, loved the scenery, the last day we were there some of the staff were setting up for a wedding and let us in to take a look.

There is nothing we didn't like. When we plan on another trip to Ireland we will be planning our stay there again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, I had made an error with my booking and, they went out of their way to help me out. All the staff that we spoke to were very helpful and friendly, and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, and relaxing.

The night that we ate in the restaurant the food and the service were excellent, the only complaint I would have is that the restaurant itself was a little bit cold. Our tv in the bedroom only had one channel, both minor inconveniences, that didn't take away from what was overall a very pleasant stay.

Stay in kilkea every year. The cleanliness is always exceptional and the dinner was delicious. The staff are very nice.

Slightly disappointed with the stay. It did not live up to the usual standard. Breakfast was cold. Requested a gesture like chocolate or champagne in the room and they took over two days to get back to me. So, I just sorted it myself. Other hotels have it organized within a day. It took a long time to get the bill at dinner. I would definitely stay again for a night away, just not for a special occasion.

The lodge was excellent, plenty of space! The food in 1180 restaurant was superb! The staff were very pleasant and helpful in 1180. We will definitely go back!

The Bar in the Castle, no real atmosphere and the barman wasnt very pleasant. On check-in we were given a late check out and they said the room service charge for breakfast was complimentary. However i had to pay the Room Service Charge and our door key didnt work after 11am. None of the above would put us off returning though, such a beautiful place.
