Castle itself was beautiful. On arrival a lovely gentleman brought our bags to our carriage room. Staff were extremely friendly. Special shout out to Gill & Natacha (Supervisor) sorry if I got her name wrong whom went above & beyond for us. We ate both nights in the clubhouse very close. Food & staff here were exceptional. Great value for money.

We stayed to one of the carriage rooms. We thought they were connected internally to the castle but you had to go outside to get to the castle for dining etc. It was raining on our first night but there were plenty of umbrellas for use at the castle. We didn’t realise there was a €30 charge per hour for the Thermal Suite & you had to pre book it. However the castle supervisor accommodated me. Our carriage room needs a bit of attention. Musty smell in the settee area. Stains on the carpet. We did asked to be moved as we found the room small but all rooms were occupied. However we were told if we were returning to contact the castle itself & they would ensure a nicer room on our next visit.

It was a dream to stay in such a beautiful place and celebrate our wedding anniversary. Fascinating and stunning. The staff member that was at the door , helping with luggage and greeting us and checking if we needed anything everytime we pass by ( didn't catch his name) was one of the kindest, nicest, most polite person we had a pleasure to meet. Absolutely made our day . The dinner in club house was delicious, we returned to castle for few cocktails and they were Incredible, so was the breakfast in 1180 . All staff members were so nice and helpful. Highly recommend the spa. So relaxing and facilities are so great ...one of the best spas I have visited . Truly amazing place to stay and super clean.

We could hear next door guests throughout the night. But that's most places anyway .

The warm atmosphere when we entered the castle and attention of the reception we got made a big impression which we loved. The staff were so friendly and obliging and really made us feel at home there. I had been away for several months and at dinner received welcome home from the staff which both my wife and I felt very touched by. The room was ideal and the quality of the beds gave us such a great nights sleep that it was the first thing we commented on when we woke up in the morning. The food there was of the highest quality and I cannot rate this hotel high enough on all aspects. It really was a magical getaway for us as a couple

Stunning authentic Norman castle with a real medieval feel. Super comfortable rooms and an outstanding breakfast in the castle keep. We stayed mid winter and spent a pleasant night in front of the huge open fireplace and log fire with a drink from the bar. Lots of quiet alcoves to hide away in and enjoy the calm atmosphere. Breakfast was outstanding, served in the castle keep. We had dinner in the clubhouse nearby but would opt for the fine dining in the castle if staying there again, having seen the dining room at breakfast the following day. Staff are super friendly and the grounds are stunning.

Staying at Kilkea Castle was truly a delightful and unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. At the reception, we were warmly welcomed, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The young man who guided us to our room was courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable, setting the tone for a wonderful stay. As we explored the hotel, every staff member we encountered greeted us with incredible kindness and professionalism, making it clear that exceptional service is a priority at Kilkea Castle. And now, let’s talk about Hermione, the exquisite restaurant within the hotel: I had the pleasure of dining at Hermione, and I’m truly at a loss for words to capture how amazing the evening was! The ambiance, the food, and especially the staff made it a night to remember. To start, I ordered the brie cheese appetizer, and it was pure perfection – beautifully creamy with an exquisite depth of flavor. For the main course, I had a medium-rare steak, served with the most velvety mashed potatoes. Paired with a wonderful bottle of Pinot Noir, each bite and sip complemented the other perfectly, making the meal an absolute delight. A huge part of what made the evening so enjoyable was the exceptional service from our servers, Gonzalo and Glenn. They were not only attentive but also warm, personable, and welcoming, truly going above and beyond to ensure our night was memorable. Gonzalo and Glenn were incredibly friendly and engaging, bringing such genuine care to their service – we felt looked after in the best way. They managed every detail with finesse, making the experience feel so special. If you’re looking for a place with outstanding food and service that makes you feel right at home, Hermione is a must-visit. I highly recommend it, and can’t wait to go back! Kilkea Castle truly deserves its 5-star reputation – from the impeccable service to the culinary experience at Hermione, every detail exceeded our expectations.

Was every single thing fab!

The location and the grounds are impeccable. The setting and the restaurants beyond expectation. “The staff” were exceptionally nice.

Sadly the gap between the wash-hand basin and toilet was very tight which meant to get to sit on the toilet a bit awkward (have the bruise to show for it). With beautiful high ceiling in the room it means there is more of a chance for cobwebs of which there were several around the curtain rod on the right hand side, between the two curtains and just above the curtain rod on the wooden rafters.

Breakfast was fantastic. We didn't realize the breakfast was.in the Castle itself. So that was an added bonus. Staff at dinner and breakfast were fantastic and they couldn't have done enough for us. The man that ran the bar in the Castle was also incredibly friendly and even had the fire lighting for us to have some drinks by it. From the moment we arrived at the hotel Christian was fantastic and polite and was having the craic with us. He even took a picture of me and my wife he offered to take it. The blonde lady at reception on arrival was also very helpful.

Nothing. We certainly will be returning.

We stayed in the carriage rooms and they were lovely, comfortable, updated. The spa was particularly nice with a relaxation room, lovely services and a sauna, warm pool, cold dousing shower and steam room. The dinner was lovely Hermione Restaurant, we went back both nights! Breakfast was very good in the castle 1108 restaurant. They accommodated my gluten and dairy free issues wonderfully.

The tap in the bathroom had an antique style with matched the decor but was difficult to turn on and off. One other little complaint is that we had booked horse riding through the castle but wasn’t told it was a 35 min drive away beforehand. They should have told us at check in. They said it when we asked for directions the day of, and then were 30 min late. Luckily they still took us.

Friendly staff. Christian welcomed us and helped us with our bags when moved in to our room. Well appointed room. We stayed in the Carriage Room, more modern amenities. Grounds were beautifully kept and we were blessed with great weather. Dinner experience in the Hermione Restaurant at the Clubhouse was great. The steak we ordered arrived as ordered. At the Castle Bar, had really enjoyable experience with Filip and Glen the two very entertaining and skillful bartenders that was there when we had our evening drinks. Breakfast the next morning was A-La-Carte with multiple choices. Portions were just right for us and my choice of Egg Benedict was done just right. Check out was fast and we all got the experience of staying at a Castle in Ireland!

Only a small complain, the bed is comfortable but the size is a tad on the small side for me and my missus. Perhaps with the full plush comforters and pillows we ran out of room. You may want to look for a Queen size bed if you want more room. We will do that next time we book.

The castle is absolutely stunning and it feels very welcoming and homely with a big open fire. You can sit around the ground floor of the castle, have drinks (there is a bar with cocktails) and play board games. The fine dining was amazing and atmospheric in the castle. they catered to my very specific dietary requirements as I am vegan and gluten free. The vegan and gluten free foods were both delicious. We also had e meal at Hermione's was really superb, I got a very tasty vegan/GF risotto there. We stayed in the carriage rooms. It was comfortable with a nice bed, a lovely range of herbal teas and coffees and an excellent shower. The room is on the small side but it has everything you need. I really enjoyed my massage at the day spa and the therapists working there were friendly.

I really enjoyed my massage at the day spa and the atmosphere there is lovely but I probably wouldn't pay for the thermal suite on it's own (it's included in a spa treatment) as there isn't a massive amount there (hydrotherapy/jacuzzi, small sauna and stream room and two showers) and when there are a few people there it can get quite loud. There were guys in there playing videos and taking photos on mobile phones while we were in the sauna which was not relaxing. The room was also a little bit too warm for my partner so he struggled to sleep but he was able to open a window in the night to fix this problem.
