Very helpful staff, beautiful views. The restaurant menu may be a little restricted but we ate there 5 or 6 times and enjoyed every meal. Very peaceful. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast coffee, although from a machine, was very nice. Rather surprisingly, there were British channels on the tv: reception wasn't always good but BBC1 generally worked well.

If you don't have a car, then the walk back up from the ferry is quite tiring. This did deter us from eating elsewhere in the evening, but we knew to expect this from reading other reviews. The hotel was very efficient at summoning taxis for us when needed, but they were pricy (25 euros.) The juice at breakfast wasn't great - freshly squeezed orange juice would have been nicer, but breakfast otherwise was very good.

Fantastic stay, the staff are so welcoming and go above and beyond. Gave us lots of travel tips for visiting the other towns by ferry boat. Nice selection at breakfast including bacon, pancakes, cereal, facility to make your own boiled eggs, toast, pastries, fruit, yogurts, ham and cheeses. The hotel is a great central location to visit Varenna, Menaggio, Bellagio. Also Lugano and Milan are about 1 hour 15 by car. Pool was nice and clean, with stunning views. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel on our last night, very reasonably priced. Room was very comfortable and clean with everything you could need - air conditioning, fridge, tv, kettle, nice powerful shower. Highly recommend this hotel! Can’t really think of anything we didn’t like! Maybe the evening menu could have had more options but there was sufficient amount for a lovely meal.

Beautiful view from the room and the terrace, extremely kind and helpful staff. They really did everything to make us feel welcome and taken care of. They also super kindly gave us directions and suggestions for the stay and what to see. Another great thing is the underground garage, so the car doesn't need to stay outside in the sun during the day.

Two minor things maybe. - The breakfast selection is decent, but if you stay for 4-5 or more days, then it can get a bit boring, since there is no variation between the days - It would be a huge benefit, if there was any kind of option to charge an EV. Given that there aren't too many options in the area (one Enel station not too far away), it would be a big advantage to be able to charge overnight.

Friendly, Welcoming Atmosphere.... The Hidden Gem! Our stay at Hotel La Perla was truly exceptional. From Check-in to - to Check-out our stay was an Absolute Delight. The staff were very kind, friendly and helpful, delightful people. A great family run hotel, with the most pleasant Staff ever!!! They just couldn’t do enough to help you, and these attributes made our stay most Comfortable. The atmosphere was cordial and relaxed. Our room was clean with a fabulous view of the lake, with everything you could need. The dinning and surrounding areas were perfectly clean, and nicely decorated. Free parking was a plus. The hotel location is perfect, with a pleasant walk down to the lake, where you have easy access by ferry to visit Varenna, Menaggio, and Bellagio. Nice selection at breakfast, fresh and tasty. Thank you Hotel La Perla Team, for making our stay memeorable, we were very pleased with the service – and the Smiling Staff. We hope to see you again!

There was nothing not to like about this property.

Awesome property overlooking the lake. Family managed hotel with 5star service and they spoke excellent English. Free parking is sufficient although their covered parking was cramped for mid sized SUV. Check in was a breeze. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Room sizes are decent given its Europe. Breakfast was decent - lunch and dinner are very reasonably priced given the location. Ferry port is pretty close and the instructions to manage the day visiting other locations like Bellagio,etc were spot on. Dont drive to the other places - the ferry is fine. And Cadenabbia car ferry option is 10 mins away and provides better timing options

WIFI is okayish in the room. For video calls, I had to sit near the reception. The hotel is at the top of the hill - and like most others, car is a necessity. Its a steep hill climb. You can drive down with sufficient free and paid parking options.

Our stay at Hotel La Perla was truly exceptional. We were very pleased with the service – all the staff were smiling, helpful, and friendly. You could always count on them for support, whether it was ordering a taxi or assisting with small requests. We especially appreciated the room change from a terrace to a balcony on the day of our arrival – the staff really did their best to make sure we were comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious – every day there was a wide selection of both hot and cold dishes, as well as fresh fruit and cakes. It’s clear that the family running the hotel puts a lot of heart into the place and takes great care of both the facilities and the guests’ comfort. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and its location with a view of the lake creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It’s a place where quiet is respected and you can truly unwind. The only downside is the 20-minute uphill walk to the hotel, which might be challenging for someone with mobility issues. Luckily, there’s always the option of taking a taxi ( 20 euros), and the stunning lake view definitely makes it worth it.

Location, room with a view, staff was OUTSTANDING! Dinner and breakfast and drinks far exceeded our expectations. We shall be telling others about this little gem of a place. Loved that it was off the beaten path, quiet and peaceful. View was amazing. We just returned from traveling for 3 weeks all over Europe and this place was our favorite! Loved the little quaint charming path to walk down to village! Try the lasagna....excellent!

If weather isn't great, you'll need a taxi to get down to village if you you have no car. However, the staff is more than willing to organize a taxi service and take care of any guest needs with a cheerful, sweet attitude.

A beautiful hotel where you really feel at ease, comfortable and very well looked after. We’ve stayed in 5* hotels that weren’t nearly as good. We had a fantastic room and our large, very private, terrace had fabulous views of Lake Como. We had a table and chairs and 4 sun beds, The suite had a bedroom and a seating area (sofa would convert into a bed for children) where we could relax. It was also very close to the pool so we could use our own sun beds and just pop over for a dip! The hotel felt very secure, as did the car parking. We were able to really relax and do things at our own pace. The staff were amazing. Very friendly, helpful and kind. They went over and beyond to ensure you had a wonderful time and we did, so much so that we stayed an extra night (in a much smaller room) and we are planning to return with friends later in the year! Very good breakfast and delicious light meals available in the evening. Thank you, La Perla, for a great stay!

You need your car to get to the town - but there are taxis available!

The hotel was absolutely stunning, our bedroom looked over the incredible views of the lake, the swimming pool was beautiful and the view from breakfast/dinner was lovely. Everything was fresh, clean and felt very family ran. All staff members were incredibly friendly and kind. They made our stay even better. Although the food menu was small all of it was delicious and tasted fresh!

The only thing that we disliked was the walk up to the hill to the hotel from the ferry port which is nothing the hotel can change!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, the rooms were spotless, and the view was absolutely stunning. The large parking area was also a big plus.

The only thing that left a bit of a bitter taste was the pricing of the bottled water - we were charged €8 for each small bottle that costs €1 at the nearby bar. It felt a bit like a rip-off. Other than that, everything was perfect!
