The location, it is a bit more quiet, which is good, but yet nearby the centre. The character of the building, it looked like a palazzo or museum. The decoration of the room, in the same characteristic style. The view to the garden (you have to book it extra), great for a quiet breathing moment after a long day in the busy city centre. The airco, a necessity when the days get hot in Firenze. Fridge in the room, nice to cool some beers or prosecco, so you can enjoy them in peace, after a busy day. Breakfast was rather basic, but everything you need was there. Maybe there should have been some more fruit, but that is just a minor remark. I liked the breakfast area, like you were in a museum, rather than a random hotel. And the girls at the reception were so nice.

OK, maybe the bathroom could have been a bit larger, but is was not a problem for me. Be reminded: there is no elevator, and there are some steps before you reach the hotel. So if you have a problem with stairs, think twice.

Beautiful, slightly worn by history, romantic, location away from the fray but an easy walk to central district as well as less populated oltr’Arno neighborhoods. This place is not for everyone- it’s not glitzy, modern, or corporate in any way. It is a remnant from another era when writers and artists stayed here and used the still present fireplaces for warmth. I love the connection to history and the romance of a place that still uses physical keys in worn doors. There’s no elevator, so you must bring your bags up the wide stone stairs and this is fine the strong girl at the desk dragged up our heaviest bag with a smile…, it is the old Florence, the opposite of modern, sterile, and corporate.

The Hotel is a typical, traditional place behind a huge wooden door. The girls on reception, Anna and Yolanda were excellent hosts, giving us plenty of tips and their local knowledge (ask them where to get the best ice cream). The very quiet room overlooked the garden and even though there was a fairly busy road at the front the sound didn't reach us at all. The shower was powerful (and plenty of hot water) and the hairdryer was a powerful model. The breakfast choice was good, although after the first morning we decided to grab a bite Florentine-style at one of the many local cafes as we made our way out for the day. The location was perfect - 50yds from an entrance to the Boboli Gardens, just a short walk down the road from the Pitti Palace and on to the Ponte Vecchio.

There wasn't much that we didn't like. I think there were only very minor things like the kettle that seemed to have a mind of its own switching off during heating occasionally, but that wasn't a great issue and we put it down to a quirk of our holiday! Perhaps some coffee sachets would have been nice in the room, but we were always able to grab some as we went through reception so again, not an issue.

A very unique stay in a 700-year-old property! Anna at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. The road outside our window was a little loud at times with people talking/shouting as they walked home late at night, but closing our shutters blocked it out mostly.

Not a traditional hotel experience-- when you enter the building, you enter into a cavernous space and then go up a couple of flights of stairs to reach a museum-like lobby. From there, our room was down another flight of stairs. The room was a bit spartan, I think we may have been in their budget offering though, as we saw nicer rooms through open doors when they were cleaning one morning. Note that the front desk isn't always attended either, which sometimes means coming home to a dark lobby-- my sister and I were okay with this as we were together, but if I was a solo traveller I think I would find this a bit spooky! Overall it was all fine though, we were there for 6 nights and it was a great home base for our time in Florence.

We loved everything about our visit to Florence…and Hotel Annalena was the perfect place for us all to stay. Our rooms were warm, inviting and extremely comfortable and we all had rooms with views of the gardens. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They provided a great service which included recommendations on restaurants, reserving taxis and holding our cases on our last day, to enable us to explore the beautiful gardens of Florence, which are accessible from the doorstep of the hotel. We will most definitely be back!

You cannot fault this hotel. It has steps to reception…but staff willingly offer to help carry bags. It has an old heating system and the pipes do rattle…but then it is an old Florentine building so what else would you expect? It offers a unique experience to stay in an authentic Florentine residence which is superbly situated for all that Florence has to offer.

The location is in a bustling neighborhood, but just fringe enough to find quiet streets and less tourists. It's across the street from the palace gardens and next to a private garden that helped soften things. The building is grand and shared with permanent residents. Beautiful, historic, well kept and so much personality. The staff was kind, the lobby welcoming and the room was quiet large. The bed is comfortable and the tall ceilings and big windows added to the sense of airy, Florentine beauty. It feels safe, clean, elegant and I highly recommend.

The walls are thin and because there's so much life in the city, the nights can run late, and the days start early. So while the room was quite comfortable, it would be good to bring earplugs.

The location in Santo Spirito was quiet, peaceful, and close to everything we wanted to see in Florence. The city is not large and walking to the cathedral didn’t take long. Property is directly across from Boboli Gardens which was FABULOUS. If walking around isn’t your preference, there were several bus stops nearby. Room was clean and had a lovely terrace overlooking a private garden, and the receptionist made a WONDERFUL dinner reservation in town… quite possibly the best meal we’ve ever had. Would absolutely stay here again!

Nothing negative. Everything was wonderful and surpassed expectations!

The balcony room we had was really nice. The antique furniture was cool, but a little dusty. The balcony itself was the main selling point. My partner and I enjoyed a few drinks there looking into the nearby private garden. The location is amazing, right next to a side entrance to the Boboli Gardens and Piazza San Spirito.

The building itself is a bit spooky and the entrance was a bit odd. It didn't feel like we were in the right place until we saw the signs for the hotel. Don't let that put you off, just be prepared to embrace the fact that it is an old building with lots of character and charm. Another thing to note is that the pictures on Booking.com do not reflect the exact room in which you are booking.

The room was quite spacious and the beds were very comfy. The antique interior is very beautiful and reminiscient of the hotel's history. I also liked that there was a fridge, kettle and a few teabags as well as a pretty strong hairdryer. The terrace itself was also wonderful and offered us a view of the gardens.

I would've liked if there were a few more tea varieties. Also, we didn't receive any additional teabags after room service. I thinkt hat's something the hotel can improve without too much cost. There was also an issue with heat insulation, because the doors to the terrace were difficult to lock. (For context, we visited in February)

The property is beautiful, so are the staff they are incredibly helpful, but just remember if you’re older and have lots of luggage there are lots of stairs, no elevator I must put that out there because I choose when I travel to always find a place with an elevator, but the help was there for me when I needed it they carried my bags up the stairs and down. The staff are amazing. The breakfast is simple, sweet and the coffee is delicious. My room was beautiful and big. I had a suite with a balcony Caroline Bonaparte stayed in my room from what I was told so much history in this place. You will love it. it was a palace from my understanding there are books there, and lots of information on the history of the building, A very short walk to the pond to Vecchio and passed the Palace beautiful gardens across the street. You will love this place and the wonderful people who work here.❤️❤️❤️

There’s not anything really that I didn’t like possibly the furniture could use a little love and attention sanding down restraining polishing but then again I refinish furniture back in Canada as a hobby so that’s only my personal experience. In the winter, they could use some rugs on the floor by the beds or in the centre of the bathroom so your feet don’t get cold other than that the place was wonderful.
