We had a great stay at this charming hotel. The location was beautiful and peaceful, with no street noise, though we were occasionally woken up at night by barking dogs. If that might be an issue, requesting a room at the back could help. The breakfast was enjoyable, featuring coffee from a portafilter machine and the availability of soy milk. A healthy breakfast option was possible, including muesli, yogurt, cucumber, tomato, pineapple, or melon, though overall the selection leaned more towards sweet and savory—cake for breakfast was a surprising touch! Still, the variety was perfectly sufficient for us. The staff was always friendly, and we found the negative reviews hard to understand. Our room was always clean, with neatly made beds and a well-maintained bathroom. The stairs were indeed steeper than usual, but they were far from flimsy attic ladders—something that made us question certain negative comments. For families, this hotel is a great choice, offering basketball, table tennis, a playground, and a pool suitable for both fun and serious swimming. Our room was spacious, though we noticed there are also smaller ones. The restaurant had good food, but the selection of vegetarian dishes was quite limited. The beds were perfectly fine—firmer rather than soft but still comfortable. The rooms had mosquito screens and could be well-darkened. A convenient feature was the ability to charge our e-bikes daily at the laundry area. We took several bike trips to Lucca, which was doable even with a five-year-old, though there were a few challenging spots along the way. And of course, Lucca itself is simply stunning—for us, the most beautiful city in Tuscany.

Barking dogs at night: We were occasionally woken up by barking dogs, but with closed windows, the noise was no longer audible. Light sleepers may want to request a room at the back. Limited vegetarian options at the restaurant: The food was good, but there were very few choices for vegetarians.

We really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back. Beautiful historic building with a very lovely outdoor area. We loved the swimming pool - perfect for families with young kids. Very quiet location, Walking distance from a small town with a really good pizzeria. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was great, varied and good quality. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and that was delicious too. Our son liked the small playground.

As it is a good place for families, I think what is missing is a changing table on the ground floor. Our room was on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and having to go there to change our son's diapers while in the swimming pool or at the restaurant is not practical. Another thing, I think Booking should have more info regarding the floor where certain rooms are located. Climbing lots of stairs could be difficult in certain circumstances (for example, young baby with a stroller).

Daria and Anna and the staff in charge of breakfast, the man who tended bar when kitchen closed, Emiliano and his spouse are demanding I all details and preservation goals are truly met. The pool is exceptional and the Aperil Spritz cocktails are generous, the new bathrooms are the best.

A small lift for luggage would have been good for old folks like me, but I need excercise too!

This was the most beautiful accommodation we’ve ever stayed in. The pictures do not do it justice. It is absolutely stunning. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool area was clean and picturesque. The woman who checked us in on Saturday September 30, 2023 was so friendly and helpful, and she also served us our dinner that night when we came down to eat after relaxing by the pool all day. She was a wonderful and kind member of staff that was clearly working very hard all day. The sunset during our dinner was gorgeous, and the pasta dishes we got were amazing. My only regret is that we only stayed here for one night before moving on to Lucca city centre- next time we will definitely extend our stay at this little piece of Tuscan heaven.

Very beautiful grounds, and building. Extremely peaceful. The room was amazing with a pristine bathroom. The pool was perfect and there was a good range of delicious food and drinks, served by staff who were happy to help with anything, and very accommodating.

Small point but the sun loungers are not the best if you want to lie on your front, but this is really the only thing we could think of! Still a 10/10!

Charming place with antique furniture in the rooms in the villa. Cabins are also in the grounds. Breakfast and excellent coffee were great each morning. A superb location to explore the area. The pool is superb for when you want a quiet day relaxing or just for refreshing after a hard day’s sightseeing!!!! But far the best thing is the staff. They could not be friendlier or more helpful. Thank you to everyone for making our short break feel special.

Aircon is a bit loud in the room at night but it’s that or endure the heat! Your choice!!!

Nothing really, maybe breakfast could have a bit more variety and pool a bit cleaner. Also showers at pool don’t work properly so people don’t shower before jumping in.

Looks from outside and from the incident like a small castle! Big rooms that are renovated but style was kept intact. Bathroom is very clean new and modern. Bed is big and comfortable. Breakfast was good, various meals and great coffee. In summer should be wonderful - with multiple hiking trails, swimming pool, huge outdoor area, and 10 minutes drive to both Piza and Lucca.

Breakfast was nice, views were nice. The garden and views around the house are breathtaking.

Rooms and furniture was a bit worn out, but this is an old house. Also the door of the room was not isolated, so you could hear what was happening in the corridors and other rooms. No elevator so not good with disabled people.

The location is great, beautiful surrounding. Comfortable room and nice swimming pool with a view. Staff is more than friendly.

The hotel is quite old and we had to take all our luggage to the third floor via the stairs. This is not a big issue but something to keep in mind when booking.
