Very nice and well-kept villa with a large garden (seating and loungers for relaxing), about 5km outside Lucca. Outstanding breakfast, which you could enjoy in the morning in the garden/on the terrace. The villa is family-run, the atmosphere and service extremely friendly and helpful, whether it was a personal chat, tips and suggestions for things to do or restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately, there is a dog in the neighbourhood that often barked, even at night. However, this is not the fault of the guest house.

This is a magical place to stay with the best host, we could not have felt more welcome. The actual accommodation is not luxury and it is quite cosy but anything lacking there was more than compensated for by the charm of the place. Breakfast was wonderful, sitting in the pretty gardens with gentle music and happy family groups spread around; the food was delicious too. The shared fridge for your own things worked well (no fridges in rooms) and the ‘mini market’ of cold drinks and wine on an honesty system was appreciated. Cold water, kettle for hot drinks etc available always. Loved our huge terrace with beautiful views

We had a wonderful stay at Marta Guest House! From the moment we arrived, Giorgio and Marta's hospitality and friendliness made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, providing excellent recommendations and always being available to assist with any needs. The Italian breakfasts were fantastic, with a delightful selection of fresh pastries, fruits, and coffee that made each morning a treat. The unique interior decoration of the house added a special charm to our stay, making it feel cosy and inviting. The location is also ideal, with easy access to all the main attractions. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. I highly recommend Marta Guest House to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience.

What a great place. Georgio went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and valued. He gave us information about places to eat, visit. When we were let down for our transport from the train station he came at very short notice to get us. The breakfast was lovely and a good selection available to choose from. My recommendation would be if you are staying at this lovely place please have your own transport, we didn’t and used public transport , easy if you want to get a bus to Lucca but a lot more difficult to get to the train station and Airport.

I had a truly wonderful stay at Marta’s home. Marta and Giorgio were incredibly welcoming and always greeted us with a warm smile. They were so helpful and kind throughout our stay. The breakfasts were delicious and varied — every morning was a real treat! It was hard to say goodbye when we left; their home is filled with genuine warmth and a cozy, heartfelt atmosphere. I felt like I was leaving family behind. Thank you for everything!

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Marta Guest House. If you’re looking for a homey, quiet, comfortable villa in the Tuscan hills this is it! Close drive to Lucca but is located in the quiet countryside. Restaurants and pasticceria around the corner. If you’re into hiking, be sure to do Dante’s pass behind the villa. It has an amazing view of the valley, Lucca, Pisa and the sea in the distance. Marta and her son Georgio work very hard to make your stay comfortable and personal. The breakfast they put on are amazing! Home made and change daily. We always looked forward to coming down to see what they had the next day. The other staff like kitchen help/room clean also work hard. If we come back to the area we will definitely book at Marta’s again!!

The hosts were fantastic! They made sure we had all the information we needed to enjoy the area. They went out of their way to provide us great tips on where to go and what to see. We appreciated all their input. The breakfast was phenomenal and you will not walk away hungry!

It was a great place if you had a car. If you don’t have a car, you will have difficulty getting around.

Beautiful house, lovingly restored. Great spacious bedroom with a big balcony overlooking the garden. Very copious breakfast with the opportunity to taste Marta's specially-prepared local specialities, both sweet and savoury. Marta also provided lots of useful advice about interesting places to visit nearby which you wouldn't necessarily think of.

Not really a negative point, but just to point out that an 8.30 start for breakfast is late for anybody who wants to leave and go visiting early. But then Marta's breakfasts do demand a lot of preparation and it's an experience (food, service and environment) that you wouldn't want to miss!

The villa is absolutely wonderful! It’s cozy and not too big, which means there aren’t too many guests at once — a perfect place for a relaxing stay. Marta and her son Giorgio were amazing hosts: very welcoming and attentive to our needs, yet never intrusive. We truly felt at home and would definitely love to come back!

We slept in a unit that is near the main house, so things might be different in the rooms... but in the unit, the beds/ sofa weren't so comfortable. The hot water were not enough for the whole family. Wifi connection was pretty low.
