This is the place to stay in Monterosso Al Mare! The hotel is right at the beach, many restaurants right near by, and if you have a car, there is a large parking lot close by to park in (€25/day). It also has elevator, which makes getting your luggage to your room easier, or if you have trouble with stairs. The train station is only a 2 min walk, which makes it really easy to arrive by train, and to access the Cinque Terre trail. It is about 15min walk to the old town, which is much busier and has more restaurants to choose from. The hotel is located in the new part of town, so is a bit quieter. The staff was super helpful in answering any questions, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel has lovely outdoor seating overlooking the sea. You can also take cocktails and wine (for purchase) on the patio throughout the day as well. You may also rent a beach towel for €5 for the duration of your stay. There is a portion of the beach that is free for you to lay out on, or you may rent an umbrella and two chairs for €35 (if you arrive after 3pm, they are discounted). If you plan to start the trail from Monterosso, the trailhead is about a 25min walk/hike through the old town and up a bunch of stairs. If you are hiking the trail when you are able to choose the direction, I recommend starting in Riomaggiore and heading to Monterosso. The trailhead between Vernazza and Monterosso is the most challenging with many areas only wide enough for one person to pass. Additionally, the stairs are very steep on the Monterosso side, so going up them is more challenging than starting on the Vernazza side. Although this stretch has nice small waterfalls, it has less shade, and there are not stops for water along it. If you are only doing part of the path and plan to skip part of it, I recommend you skip the one between Vernazza and Monterosso. The rooms are nice, and are cleaned daily. We had a bed and a fold out couch, and both were comfortable. Definitely recommend.

Simone was amazing! When we checked in, the woman that checked us in did nothing more but give us our keys. We came back downstairs and heard Simone checking some other people in giving them maps and Boat schedules, train schedules, etc. Of course we listened and got more information. during the rest of our stay, Simone was amazing. Gave us restaurant recommendations. was super kind. The room was great. Shower water pressure was great. Air conditioning was amazing. Best sleep I had in Italy. The location was amazing! two minutes from the train station. Would definitely go back and stay there again.

You cannot beat the location of Hotel Baia. It's a short walk down the main drag from the train station, maybe a 2 minute walk, and it's right on the beachfront with its own private beach area (you rent umbrellas and chairs from the hotel for an extra fee). We had a lovely balcony on the side of the building that overlooked the mountains and the sea. The room was compact but it didn't feel like too tight of a squeeze.

We attempted to rent an umbrella and chairs later in the day on the Saturday we were staying there, and even though clearly most of the guests who had rented for the day had left the beach already, we weren't able to rent anything. So if you do stay here and plan to spend time at the beach, we recommend renting your spot in the morning in order to guarantee you'll be able to get a spot.

I had the pleasure of staying at Baia Hotel in Monterosso, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I walked in, the cleanliness of the hotel was immediately noticeable. Every corner of the hotel, from the rooms to the common areas, was impeccably maintained. The fresh, inviting smell throughout the hotel added an extra layer of comfort, making the entire experience even more pleasant. But what truly stood out during my stay was the private beach experience. The hotel provides access to a beautiful, well-kept beach and the presence of lifeguards made me feel incredibly safe and at ease. I was particularly impressed to see that the lifeguards were not only attentive to the guests on the private beach but were also helping people on the public beach nearby ( For example, I saw them assisting people who had been bitten by jellyfish, lost items ...)

Location perfect. Breakfast good as was wait staff and the gentleman at the front desk. Clean with good shower and bathroom and view

The older female owner was very grumpy and sat at table across from ours and stared at us during breakfast. She told us we ate too much food and because of that should tip the wait staff (which we had every intention of doing when we were leaving). I had each morning one boiled egg, small bread roll and cup of tea !!! The men in our group ate more but nothing too much. She made us very uncomfortable and was constantly watching us

Location simply the best beach front. Going to sleep with the sound of the waves rolling in was wonderful.Close to the railway station about 100 metres.

I can understand it is not easy to retrofit an older building, but there was no guests toilet/bathroom on ground floor, and if we wanted to use bathroom at breakfast time or sitting outside in guest area tables (for drinks or breakfast) on beachfront , we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to room(or use lift if it was available. Otherwise, nothing.

The location was superb!! Would stay here again, for its location alone. The hotel had an authentic aesthetic and the rooms have been decorated in keeping with its era. Bathrooms near new with good shower pressure. We had a quaint outside terrace at the back (as we weren't beach-facing in our room) - handy for hanging washing. Very helpful that there is a luggage lift. The staff were pleasant and spoke pretty good English. Enjoyed well-made cappuccino with our 'included' breakfast. They provided a good start to the day before walking (generous time window 8am - 11am)..

The hotel doesn't have facilities per se. Though perhaps some would view the private beach as a facility. We didn't have occasion to use it - due to weather and walking - but it looked nice and better for swimming and lazing on than the free beach (close to the Neptune statue). Having rated facilities as average, that's not what we were coming to the Cinque Terre for. The rooms are close knit and not especially sound proof. With lots of tiled or marble floors, it can be noisy as people enter/exit and drag suitcases. That seems to be part and parcel of Italian hotels we've stayed at.

The hotel has an excellent placement right on the beach. They have set up amenities to enjoy the beach and boardwalk. The cleaning staff is excellent as the place is spotless top to bottom. The breakfast food was delicious with many choices. The staff was accomadating to requests, for example making cappaccinnos and bringing it to the boardwalk area for breakfast dining. The man at the desk is very gracious with excellent customer service skills. Everyone we came across tried their best to make our stay the best possible. It is a lovely building, a lovely room, a modern bathroom with new fixtures, and a good bed. We highly recommend staying here.

A take away paper bag with a croissant for the early train departure would be nice. Other hotels are offering this type of thing for the crack of dawn departures.

This Hotel is right on the promenade with the beach in front. The view from our room was magic. The room was good and had good air conditioning and toiletries. Good breakfast with barrister coffee. A nice seating area with tables area just for guests on the promenade. Sad to leave.

There wasn’t much to not like except the stairs ( lift for luggage though) And we met a couple at the beach below reserved for guests who had paid for the loungers and umbrella and as it was about 4pm they were leaving and gave us the receipt and said we could have them. (Too late to rerent them and plenty empty loungers all around)The employee wouldn’t let us have it even though the couple told him it was ok. Was quite animated about it. Shame it spoilt a nice stay

Excellent for a 3 star property. Perfect location off the beach and near restaurants etc. Really clean; the cleaning staff for the bedrooms were excellent, nice sized bedroom, very good breakfast(apart from coffee: make sure to order coffee from the staff, don’t drink the self-service stuff). Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Very little not to like: a sea view would have been good but the advantage of a room at the back was the quiet. I suppose if fitness was an issue for a guest the stairs would be a problem, the lift was only for luggage.
