This is the place to stay in Monterosso Al Mare! The hotel is right at the beach, many restaurants right near by, and if you have a car, there is a large parking lot close by to park in (€25/day). It also has elevator, which makes getting your luggage to your room easier, or if you have trouble with stairs. The train station is only a 2 min walk, which makes it really easy to arrive by train, and to access the Cinque Terre trail. It is about 15min walk to the old town, which is much busier and has more restaurants to choose from. The hotel is located in the new part of town, so is a bit quieter. The staff was super helpful in answering any questions, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel has lovely outdoor seating overlooking the sea. You can also take cocktails and wine (for purchase) on the patio throughout the day as well. You may also rent a beach towel for €5 for the duration of your stay. There is a portion of the beach that is free for you to lay out on, or you may rent an umbrella and two chairs for €35 (if you arrive after 3pm, they are discounted). If you plan to start the trail from Monterosso, the trailhead is about a 25min walk/hike through the old town and up a bunch of stairs. If you are hiking the trail when you are able to choose the direction, I recommend starting in Riomaggiore and heading to Monterosso. The trailhead between Vernazza and Monterosso is the most challenging with many areas only wide enough for one person to pass. Additionally, the stairs are very steep on the Monterosso side, so going up them is more challenging than starting on the Vernazza side. Although this stretch has nice small waterfalls, it has less shade, and there are not stops for water along it. If you are only doing part of the path and plan to skip part of it, I recommend you skip the one between Vernazza and Monterosso. The rooms are nice, and are cleaned daily. We had a bed and a fold out couch, and both were comfortable. Definitely recommend.

We chose Hotel Baia for the location and access to the private beach and very happy with both aspects. Was pleasantly surprised to find out that the room (on third floor) had access to a terrace, with sunbed and view of the sea (though slightly blocked by the neighbouring building). The room itself was spacious, clean and very comfortable AC to help with the summer heat. Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Lastly, there are outdoor tables along the seafront for hotel guests to use for breakfast, and evening drinks (order from the hotel bar).

There is only 1 lift for luggage use and it is a bit slow. While it was not a problem during our stay, be aware you may need to walk up the stairs for rooms on higher floors.

The location is perfect and love Monterosso. Being on the beach front with no concern of dragging luggage up a million stairs. Hotel has a lift for your luggage which is perfect. Having a room facing the ocean was great as we were able to have the balcony door open and listen to the waves and people watch. Breakfast was great and concert at the tables used for the hotel on the beachfront.

Would have liked use of the beach lounges at a more affordable price as they were often empty as quite expensive and you had to pay a set price for the whole day. Often you are out and about and it would be nice to use the facilities and pay for the time you use as often only had time for an hour but Euro 25 was a bit steep.

The location of the hotel was the best part of staying here…. 5min walk from the train station and literally steps from the main beach. There was another beach closest to the main “town” area that looked dirty and not as nice as the one that Hotel Baia sits on. We had a sea view room on the third floor and the view from our balcony was worth every penny!! They have beach chairs(blue ones in photos) and umbrellas that can be rented for 30 euro a day and towels for 5 euro to use for the whole stay. The breakfast was pretty standard but enough to start your day- hard boiled eggs, pastries, yogurt, cold cuts/cheese, juice, coffee. You can even request espressos/cappuccinos etc. You can take your breakfast to eat outside by the water as well. The staff is very nice and helpful. The air conditioning worked well. They have a small elevator that is used for luggage otherwise you have to take the stairs fyi.

The property is a bit dated. Maybe updating the bedding/towels, etc would be nice.

very nice hotel, def recommended. the building has lots of character, it's just in front of the beach, has a lovely terrace with seaview, it's furnished with good taste, well cured in all details, super clean, and offers a great breakfast buffet. they also have truly kind staff, who are always available even if very busy. we booked last min and had no view, but the owners upgraded us to a better room as soon as possible, and then suggested us what to do and where to eat locally. they have a private beach, and there as well the staff very polite. i was with my 95 y.o. mum and Tommaso the life guard was very empathic and helpful. we would def come back.

nothing about the hotel, just be ready that the 5 terre are very popular and, especially in August, the whole area, including the sea, can be quite crowded, as in most of Italy.

Leisurely walk from the train station. It's beside the best gelato in Cinque Terre ( in my opinion). The beach is your daily breakfast view. And the only village with a beach. The rest of the village is rocks to sea ! Sunbed for 35 euro across the street. Cantina Miky ( sister resto of fine dining Miky a few steps from the hotel) is also in front of the hotel. Great food ! Look for Steve. The hotel has a lift only for luggage! Breakfast is basic. No hot dish except the booked egg and coffee.

Need to climb a hundred steps to our 3rd floor room. So if you forgot something or want to back to your room, think a hundred times ! Stairs are the only drawback. Otherwise it's the best location in Monterosso.

The rooms with Balcony's were fabulous, you opened the door and WAM !! the best view of the beach and ocean, straight across the road we had our own private beach.

We were up a lot of floors to get our great rooms with a view and the lift was only to be used for suitcases, so that was a bit hard on those with sore weak legs to climb often, but they allowed our worse person to get in the lift, but no one else, but that was helpful and good for this person. Also some of the staff didnt have the PR personality that someone on front greeting desks should have, they were very abrupt at times, the man was always friendly and helpful, but the 2 laides made you feel a little uncomfortable at times, no small talk for sure or friendly banter, but otherwise it was all good.

Wonderful location, quick walk to the train station. Rooms were clean and tidy, comfortable bed - would be nice to have an additional pillow. Breakfast buffet included. Private outdoor seating area. Cheap beers and water. I booked two rooms and we got the outdoor terrace where both our rooms opened up to this area, with chairs and tables and sunbeds - wish we got to make use of this area more. Elevator for bags, which was a bonus! Own private beach area with a good rate to hire out a sunbed for the day!

There isn't anything that we didn't like. We got asked to not move the chairs around outside as we had friends who joined us for a drink, one staff member allowed this to occur however another staff member was not happy the chairs were moved - this didn't impact our stay and I would recommend staying at hotel baia.

Family run hotel in one of the most beautiful (and busiest) spots on the Italian coast. The rooms are small but charming and romantic — and the sea view from ours was lovely. Everything was clean and thoughtfully arranged, with a smooth check-in and friendly service. Breakfast was a treat, and we loved being able to enjoy it outside by the sea. What really stands out is how well they preserve the atmosphere for their guests even in such a tourist-heavy location. The private beach club and promenade seating are reserved just for guests, and there was always space for us to relax. That level of care made all the difference. Thank You🩵

LOCATION IS GREAT. ON THE STREET, THAT IS MOSTLY A PEDESTRIAN ONLY STREET, THAT IS CLOSEST TO THE BEACH. FRONT DESK WAS AWESOME, BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD AND STAFF WAS FRIENDLY. HOTEL HAS LIFT (ELEVATOR). OUR ROOMS (WE RESERVED 2) DID NOT HAVE BEACH VIEW, BUT HAD PRIVATE PATIOS. VERY NICE. YES, WE NEW IN ADVANCE THAT SEA VIEWS WERE SOLD OUT. IT IS EASY TO WALK TO THE LOBBY AND OUTSIDE WHERE HOTEL HAS A PRIVATE SITTING AREA FOR GUESTS. MONTEROSSO TRAIN STATION CLOSE ENOUGH, BUT NOT SO CLOSE YOU HEAR THE NOISE. EASY WALK INTO THE TOWN CENTER BUT THERE IS ALSO MANY RESTAURANTS CLOSE TO THE HOTEL INCLUDING A MICHELIN RATED ONE WITH AWESOME FOOD AND SERVICE. WE WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN.
