* a friendly little family-owned and run hotel across the road from the Rome Termini Railway station. * clean, safe, comfortable, and overwhelmingly welcoming. * From Trojan rushing to help me with my bags when I arrived, Danilo and Ruby’s excellent suggestions for walking routes to see the city, and Ruby’s warm farewell when I checked out, I really felt like a guest rather than a mere customer. * The owner Danilo was super-responsive and immediately fixed a maintenance issue in the bathroom. * when I left, one of the housekeeping staff Joshua even helped me with my luggage back to the station! * My room was simple, unglamorous & functional (but more comfortable than that of my much more expensive 4-star hotel in Venice), with a comfortable big bed, desk, cupboard, big TV & good aircon. The bathroom had a good-sized shower, toilet & bidet, and nice basin with a space for putting toiletries. * My room was generally quiet, with a window looked out onto other apartments. This gave an authentic feeling of living in Rome. * excellent location for me: less than 5 minutes walk from the train platform; right across the road from the Coop Supermarket and a post office. While the area around the central railway station of most European cities is usually a little rough, I felt perfectly safe day and night due to the constant presence of police and other security personnel. * within reasonable walking distance to all the main sights in Rome. eg. about 25-30 minutes to walk to any of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain or Spanish Steps, and about 1hr to walk to the Vatican City — though I was pleased I took the Ruby's advice and strolled through the beautiful Villa Borghese Gardens to see the Vatican (about 90 mins). * Buses and the Metro leave from the station for those who prefer public transport and/or want to get to the sights faster.

* people with mobility issues should know that there are some steps on the ground floor before you reach the lift. * some of the other guests were a bit noisy coming and going (though the hotel did encourage people to be considerate). * sometimes there was loud music playing in reception, which I could hear from my room.

The hotel is located in an old building. It looks more like a normal old apartment house. Once in the room everything is very good. Big rooms, simple and very clean. Beds were comfortable. The hotel is just in front of the train and bus station. Very easy to get there and close to main monuments. The team at the reception of the hotel is very friendly and helps on everything you need.

The entrance to the building is strange. Signs of the hotel are small and makes you feel a bit lost when looking for the reception.

Location beside Termini, couldn't be more convenient. Very helpful staff, very thorough, and answered all questions. Bonus was the coffee machine in the office for those early mornings. AND they offered us breakfast vouchers for local cafes in the area where we could get a cappuccino and croissant for breakfast. Great shower, clean bed every day, clean rooms. No complaints here.

FYI if you are arriving late night. The area around the train station has some mild homelessness at night which may make it feel unsafe walking alone at night. Tbh I walked alone at night a few times - no issues. During the day this is not an issue at all. Clean, safe, no problem.

Very welcoming staff. Provided good information about the room and local area. It was clear breakfast wasn't included but still got a free coffee and croissant at the nearby cafe. There was also water and a coffee machine in the reception. The room was a good size and has the facilities we needed. It was so close to the station and although upstairs there was a sign on the door. They helped us book a taxi when heading to the airport so that worked great.

It was noisy. But what do you expect by a train station. Pre packed ear plugs did the job! Some wallpaper was coming loose off the wall.

The location is perfect, right next to the Termini so getting round town is easy! The lady we met on the counter has a lot of awesome advice and perfect little eats you won't be disappointed with! The room was clean, had good air conditioning and was rather modern. I do not know how this only gets 1 star I have stayed in 3 star hotels that shouldn't be habitable. The price is too good to be true for this place. When I come back to Rome I will stay here.

Shower took a bit long to heat up

This hotel is a great value for money! Great location, it is right next to the Termini Station, but the windows are good, no noise. You can even walk to many historical areas, 20-30 minutes distance through beautiful streets. Even Uber wasn't too expensive because it is not far from the central tourist areas. The staff is very polite and helpful, even before my arrival they sent a welcome message, easy communication. It is in a residential building. My room was not very big, but it was very clean and comfortable. I stayed there 3 nights and I would choose it again. I recommend!

The property is right across the street from Termini so its an ideal location if you have an early trip or a lot of luggage. The staff was top tier/ chef kiss, they were super nice, friendly and helpful, the hotel might not be super luxurious but its super clean and everything in the room was in good state.

The only thing I could say is the design and color of the tiles of the bathroom looks a little cheap, I would use another type of tiles to elevate the design and overall style of the bathroom, also I would add some perchs to put the towels inside the bathroom. Dont get me wrong the hotel was super clean, the only thing I would work on is the bathroom style, I would definitely stay here again.

The room had everything I needed. I was able to leave my luggage after checkout and was offered free hot drinks and water which was greatly appreciated by me. The staff were very friendly and let me know I could stay in the communal area while I was waiting for my flight. Plus, reception gave me a voucher for free breakfast at a local cafe. Overall I had a wonderful experience here and would undoubtedly stay again

It was a bit loud in the mornings, but this can be helped by the use of earplugs

Very good location, only a few minutes away from Termini station. The room was so clean. The staffs are very friendly and gave me some advice for my travel.

It could have been better if there was any lift in the annex too, but the building itself is old so I cannot complain about it.

Location and price were the reasons for choosing Hotel Ciao. Turned out to be a great choice. Directly across from the main Termni Station on the better side, we were in an excellent location for exploring the city. The room was a good size, clean and came with a fridge. Water and snacks were on the house and were replenished daily. The room was serviced daily even after we said it wasn't necessary. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival, not sure if we have experienced a more pleasant reception. Also, on that note, we had the pleasure of dealing with Ruby on numerous occasions who could run a clinic on customer service.

Not a complaint but more of a heads up. Once you find the hotel, there is a plaque outside, you will be buzzed in. Do not be concerned on first impressions. Once you make your way up two flights (or take the elevator) you will find the reception. There you will be pleasantly surprised and reassured you made a good choice.
