I was looking for a clean and safe budget hotel, and Hotel Gea Di Vulcano exceeded my expectations. It's situated in an old apartment building near Termini station. Given the persistent heat in Rome during my visit, proximity to Termini was crucial as I traveled by train and preferred not to haul my luggage over long distances. Despite being a 5-10 minute walk from Termini, the area felt safe, even when returning alone late at night. I intentionally chose this location for its convenience, although it's worth noting that major tourist attractions are a 20-25 minute walk away. The room itself was simple yet impeccably clean. The Wi-Fi worked sufficiently, and while the breakfast offered a limited variety, the quality of the food provided was satisfactory. One thing to note is the early check-out time of 10:00 AM, which was earlier than the usual 12:00 PM. This meant a bit of a rush for me to pack up, but the staff kindly allowed me to use the room until 11:00 AM. I recommend this hotel to other visitors.

The bar across the street hosts live music performances on some nights, which can be quite loud. The hotel provides earplugs as a solution, but I personally found them uncomfortable to wear. If you are sensitive to noise, it's worth considering this aspect.

Staff went above and beyond with our kids and advice on sites and restaurants. Breakfast was brilliant! Location couldn’t have been better, fantastic value for money!

Location is excellent as it is 220m to Republica and 900m to Roma Termini. Front desk lady staff is extremely helpful. Breakfast is simple and satisfying. The room is on the second floor and it is not noisy as it is facing a small road. The 2 rooms size are adequate and there is also a family room. The toilet is spacious. The aircon heater works well in December winter. Beds are semi-hard and comfortable. We had good night's rest.

Drinking water was not replaced daily and our family of 4 only had 3 bottles. Floor is dirty and slippers were not provided. We had to climb the staircase as it is more convenient than taking the light.

I didn't get her name, but the female running the hotel was awesome, so personable, provided recommendations for restaurants, allowed us to check-in early and also check-out late. The room was exactly as described. The location was awesome, very central, easily walk to all locations in Rome and lots of restaurants around the area. The breakfast was also fantastic, a variety of croissants, the coffee was high quality and provided options like latte's, cappuccino or espresso, toast with cold cuts and cheese, a couple varieties of cakes, hardboiled eggs and even yogurt. It was great!!!

The only one thing, which wasn't a big deal, is the shower head needed to be cleaned or replaced, it didn't have very good water flow, many of the holes were plugged up. However, the hand-held wand had great water flow and pressure.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and in a very quiet building. Breakfast was delicious, especially the pastry. The staff were wonderful - very thoughtful and helpful with arrival and departure, as well as great restaurant recommendations! The location is great - even though the hotel is on a busy shopping street, the hotel itself is very quiet. It's just a short walk to the Metro and train stations, and very walkable to attractions like the Spanish Steps or Colosseum.

Not a complaint, just a suggestion: as someone who has chronic neck trouble, I always appreciate newer pillows when I can't travel with my own!

The location was great for us. I’m sure lots of people take transport to the sights but we enjoy walking and found all locations within reach. The hotel is little and the staff very friendly and helpful. The air conditioning in the room was welcome relief to the sticky summer weather. For a small breakfast area they had made the most of what they could offer, producing plenty of options to start our day with full stomachs and good coffee.

Overall, it was a nice experience ,the building of the hotel was beautiful The modern room I got after they changed the first one was very nice The bottle of wine and the snack they left were very thoughtful The personnel at the hotel were helpful and kind.

The breakfast felt very basic and poor in comparison to other hotels of the same category and price ,and need improvement. Some functionality of the room needs improvement ( even the renovated one) Soundproof at the windows needs improvement and renovation.

Lovely little family owned hotel in a condomium building with a few more of the same type beside it. I love these kinds of places – if you are looking for a boring luxury chain you won't, but if you want a locally owned, quirky, and lovingly cleaned place with homemade croissants in the morning and nice people, close to everything famous in Rome, this is your spot!

More plain (unsweetened) yoghurt for those of us from countries that don't have "dolce" breakfast? But really, when in Rome ... I've nothing bad to say about this place.

Close to Termini Station but not too close (sketchy area just to the west of the station) This hotel is beyond that. Beautiful late 1800s classic building with several other hotels inside. The stateliness of the building is tremendous. Cage elevator, Super friendly staff and owners. Room spacious. The hotel occupies part of the first floor (2nd fl for north americans) and is safe and gorgeous. No part of the hotel is in the front half of the building facing busy Via Nazionale. My room was pretty quiet and I slept with the window open. Small refrigerator.

I suppose you could say that the decor is from the 90s but this is why the hotel is such a great value! Other than a weird "natural" soap that didn't lather, I would say this place was tops!

The location was excellent, so close to everything, therfore walking distance to most city sites and highlights. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful whenever I had any queries. When there were issues with the wifi, they promptly offered me another room that had wifi access. The hotel room I booked was located toward the back of the building, so it was a little quieter than the main street- facing rooms. It was spacious and comfortable. It was very clean and well maintained. I liked the very firm bed, but the pillows were uncomfortable. Contintal breakfast was nice, which included cheese, cold meats and veges, pastries, and sweets. I didn't mind that the hotel was within an apartment building it just added to the quirkiness of being different from what I'm used to. Overall I had a lovely stay and I would stay again.

Not that they were major issues but will mention. I didn't like the pillows, they were flat and hard and gave me a sore neck, also whenever the air con was on, literally sounded like water running through pipes, it become annoying so I tried to avoid using it especially at night.
