I reserved spa service the day before, the spa opens at 14:00 and we requested cancellation at 15:00. They charged me under the excuse that the cancellation should be done no later than 10:00 am. It’s still not clear how to request cancellation when they are not open. The information should have been provided by the time of booking.

Facilities were immaculate. Super clean. Gardens really well tended and cared for. Pools and shared areas very clean. Room was good, our bathroom lovely and very clean. beds comfortable. Really enjoyed the spa, outdoor pool and beachside cafe and sun bed area. Location was superb. 2 mins from train station. Under 5 minutes to town centre and ferry. Staff friendly and attentive. Peaceful.

Breakfast was Ok. Could have been better. Missing some hotter cooked food items and pastries were a bit cheap. Good service though. No kettle in room. Minor items. Our balcony was near the road and overlooked a roof.

This is a fantastic little hotel with great facilities including the pool and beach area. The rooms were a generous size, nicely cleaned and maintained and the breakfast buffet was great.

Not the friendliest of service at reception which was the low point. English isn't great and questions seemed to be an 'inconvenience' especially to a couple of the gentlemen. Staff at pool ans across F&B were great though. Did get a decent bite from something in bed which wasn't ideal however to be fair we did air the room out with open windows during the day

Fantastic property and great staff. The setting is incredible, on the edge of town right, up the hill from the beach, with terraces leading down to the pool, a bar overlooking the water, outdoor seating and play areas, and finally to the piers / sunning area right on the water. You could easily spend days just on the property, but it is a 3 minute walk to the train station or into town (just down the hill), so location is great. We had a 2-room suite for a family of 4 (two 20-something kids);- it was a just a bit tight in the room (1 bath for 4; no larger rooms were available at that time), but we had a great outdoor terrace with table and chairs for 4, lounge chairs, and direct access to the hotel terraces and waterfront (lockable terrace french doors so one can come and go through the terrace without having to go through the hotel). Room was spotless and very up to date (and very private - I never heard another guest while staying in our room, but we saw other guests at various times around the grounds, terraces, bar, waterfront, etc.. Fabulous breakfast buffet included, on a lovely terrace, always got our days there off to a great start. Santa Margherita is a charming town with lots of places to eat and shop at, a lively waterfront (including ferry and charter boat service), and a train station within 35 minutes of Cinque Terre (for easy day trips) and service to/from major cities (Milan, Genoa, Florence, etc.). I would highly recommend Hotel Metropole!

I wish we could have booked a 2-bed, 2-bath room. Other than that, everything was fantastic!

A fantastic location on the hill overlooking Santa Margherita Liguri with gardens running down to the water. We had sensational views of the bay from our corner room on the third floor. Beautiful hotel just far enough away from the hectic centre but close enough to walk in. Breakfast was extensive with fresh juices and great coffee.

Flawless as usual. Service, cleanliness, facilities all superb. First stayed at The Metropole 25 years ago, before the swimming pool and spa. Prefer a garden view room as greenery explodes with colour in the early morning sunlight. The breakfast spread is epic and you can easily take more than an hour to savour several dishes - hot or cold, savoury or sweet. Location: a few minutes from the train station and buses to Portofino (20 mins) and Rapallo (15 mins). The walk to the town square takes less than 10 mins and there are many beaches to choose from. That said, the private beach and direct sea access at The Metropole is so convenient there's little reason to use any other beach. Sunbeds, deck chairs, parasols and beach towels are all complimentary and the hotel even has several private lifeguards! There is also an outdoor swimming pool nestled in the extensive gardens that surround the hotel buildings. The spa includes a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and warm pool and is free for hotel guests. Complimentary juices and herbal teas are provided. It's the perfect place to relax on a warm afternoon before dinner. Service: waiting staff, reception, spa staff, night porter, cleaners, lifeguards, etc: all lovely, welcoming people and nothing was ever too much. They are a credit to the hotel and are a large part of why The Metropole has flourished and grown in the past two decades. All in all, it's superb value and the finest four star hotel in Santa Margherita.

No bathrobes provided in the bathroom and no kettle/tea-making facilities in the room.

Italian Riviera lifestyle – I feel like I lucked out with Hotel Metropole. Staying here in March prices were probably lower than in the high season. Metropole has elegant decor, professional and friendly staff, and a gorgeous view. My room was clean and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed, quick hot water, and a deck that looks out over the marina. The hotel breakfast buffet had healthy options, which I needed after eating so much pizza and pasta over the previous week. Highly recommend.

This hotel is beautiful, in a great location, with amazing views, landscaping and pool. It was exceptionally clean, and one of the largest rooms I’ve ever had in Europe. One thing to note was the incredible customer service from all the staff. You feel like you’re staying at a hotel 2x the cost. Breakfast was so good too - I don’t typically go for that, but it was such a nice addition here.

No complaints - would return again tomorrow!

All was super great! I loved the location and facilities! I had my BD in there and in the morning breakfast all restaurant stuff came out with a piece of cake and singing me Happy BD! Ot was really touching and nice. Especially that I was solo traveller.

I think my room wasn’t vacuumed even once in 5 day’s state, as ai could see hair on the floor all the time, which is unfortunate

Very close to train station ,walking distance ! Access to beach , outdoor and indoor pool ! Great breakfast ! Staff very nice,

There is an indoor pool and spa , but bathrobes are not provided … they offer to rent one at 5 Euros per day , per person …
