We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gutkowski. We stayed in the Superior Room which was huge with a large sitting area. Very comfortable. Would be a good size for three people. Air con worked well. We were on level one so did not have a beach view. The location is perfect. It is right across from the beach which was convenient and meant it was slightly quieter. Still very close to the action, only a 5 minute walk. Very close to the markets too. Breakfast had a wide variety. The rooftop bar was also excellent, great view and lovely cocktail selection. We did not get a chance to try the restaurant (vegan). We bused from Catania to Syracuse. It’s about a 20 - 25 minute walk from Syracuse bus terminal to the hotel which is all flat.

Very cosy and charming. Located in front of the sea and 5 mins walk from the main attractions on the island. The staff is lovely and welcoming. Nice breakfast with lot of sweet and savoury options (the homemade yogurt is absolutely delicious).

I can’t give 10/10 because of the noise level late at night and early in the morning by the staff who gets ready from breakfast or tidies up/bring food on the terrace after dinner. Unfortunately some of the other guests weren’t too much considerate too. Overall I’d stay here again if it happened to visit Syracuse again.

The view from the rooms that face the sea is terrific, but the street views are pleasant as well. Hotel Gutowski’s staff were gracious, warm and helpful with information about the city and transportation, including helping us arrange for a private car and driver for a day trip. By good fortune, our first day in the hotel fell on the last day before the hotel restaurant closed for a winter break. The menu offered a variety of richly flavorful vegetarian dishes along with a nice wine, all very Sicilian. We’ve had many great meals in Sicily; none better or more creatively prepared than here, though. Breakfasts were superb, everything from scrambled and boiled eggs to traditional cheeses, home-made yogurt, fruits, preserves and pastries, served across a generous time period up to 10:00 am.

Really do not have any criticisms or suggested changes. We can hardly be unhappy about the restaurant closing for a seasonal break after our first night, since we felt lucky it was open for that first night.

An idyllic place which was incredible value for money when we stayed. There are likely places with nicer facilities etc but for what you pay, it is really, really good. Location is also fantastic, and the street has a few good restaurants too.

Just some small things - you can hear everything in the hallways from your bedroom, as the doors are thin. Our bathroom door didn't lock and isn't soundproof at all, so I would be careful if you're a couple and this is your first holiday together! Breakfast is OK, nothing to write home about but they do a decent coffee. No mosquito nets on the windows.

The daytime staff was especially good. They had excellent recommendations on tourist sites. Breakfast was plentiful and with many choices —yogurt, pastries, bread, eggs, cheese. The restaurant has an excellent chef! He is very creative and uses Sicilian ingredients in unexpected ways.

I wish the hotel kept some change on hand. They did not have the ability to make change to a 10€ bill, let alone a 20€. Given that the bank machines primarily issue 50€ bills and maybe 20€, I would have expected some minimum change at a hotel of this caliber.

Fantastic location, you're a stones throw away from all the action on Ortiga but set off away from all the noise. A perfect location for some R&R and exploring all that Syracuse has to offer. The hotel is gorgeous, rooms are perfect size and very nicely done, roof terrace overlooking the sea is a great spot to relax and enjoy a drink. The staff are very lovely and friendly.

Being very picky here, would be nice to see more fresh fruit on offer at breakfast. That said the breakfast is fantastic with plenty of sweet and savoury options. Local honey and orange conserve is a must.

Directly on the ocean front. Beautiful room with a view and 3 small balconies. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The breakfast selection was quite small, however you could tell it was all high quality. Sadly, they don't have designated parking for the hotel. We arrived on a Saturday evening which turned out to be absolute chaos. All parking spots and garages were full and we drove for 1hr 30 before finding a space which was actually resident only, but we had given up and we moved it early the following morning so luckily was not fined.

Beautiful little hotel and appointed rooms in two separate buildings. Excellent breakfast with a great variety of fresh local options to choose from. Nicely decorated and very clean with location which makes easy if you are driving - parking right in front. Hotel just on the edge of Ostrigia and Siracusa.

Man that is at the desk sometimes (owner?!) should stick with administrative functions - does not know how to smile and accept suggestions of his guests (that is the basic golden rule of hospitality - even though you do not agree…just pretend you do and be pleasant). Ladies at the desk on the other hand were very nice and know they are in the hospitality service.

Great location on the waterfront, nice light room with 2 balconies. Generally staff were pretty helpful.

Slightly odd that the hotel is split over 2 sites. We came in March and lots of places, this one included, are not 100% operational, eg no bar, roof terrace not really usable. There was a bit of a damp patch in one corner of our room, which otherwise was lovely.

Breakfast and dinner was very good. The staff is excellent 👌

My room and bathroom were open to the terrace. When I arrived at my room someone was just finishing using my bathroom. No happy with that.
