First of all, the staff were wonderful! Always eager to help. When our child was sick and we needed a doctor they even had one sent to the room within an hour! Everyone we met was so nice. We booked the cheapest standard room and therefore had slightly lower expectations, but the room was bigger than expected and had a really nice view of both the pool and the sea. We were pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was very good. The pool and beach were both up to expectation. The hotel also had parking, and a shuttle bus service into town. Some comments mention the train; there is a train running between the hotel and the beach, but the noise was honestly so little that we mostly forgot about it. All in all, very happy with the stay. Would come here again.

The only downsides were the poor quality of the WiFi connection and the lack of options for lunch. The restaurant is closed during lunch hours, and the bars have limited selection. Not a huge problem, as there are restaurant options within walking distance, just a slight inconvenience.

At first we were a bit concerned reading some of the reviews, but upon arrival, this hotel is VERY charming and great value for the money/ Taormina.. The hotel is right on the beach which was lovely. They have a "premium" beach club you can upgrade to for $30 euros per person, and feels like you are on our own beach. The restaurant hosts dinner sometimes in the private event venue -right above the beach which was gorgeous- had a million dollar view. Great for families. The have a complimentary shuttle service that takes you right into town and picks you up which saves a lot of money since a taxi one way is $20-$25 euros. Breakfast was nice - lots of variety, and dinner menu changes every 2 days, and the food was nice. The waiters / waitresses were very friendly. The pool was very large and never felt like you were on top of anyone.

The hotel was a bit dated (This is Sicily - part of the charm stepping back in time) however it was CLEAN. The lunch menu could use work- very limited. I think small upgrades to the property could really make a big difference i.e. iron/ steamer in room, slippers, re-upholstery, small upgrades to facade.. but would gladly stay here again.

- Great location right by the sea and just a short distance from Taormina. - Beautiful beach area and garden, plus extra amenities like pool and gym. - Convenient shuttle service to Taormina if you don’t have a car. - Outstanding staff, very accommodating, offering us both early check-in and late check-out. - Decent breakfast selection. - Clean rooms with lovely sea view.

- The hotel overall feels outdated; several areas would benefit from renovation (elevators, reception, corridors, restaurant, etc). - While the bathroom seemed recently updated and was definitely clean, the rooms and the hotel overall are pretty old, hence may not suit those expecting a more upscale or “posh” hotel.

The hotel was clean and rooms were cleaned daily, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good enough. We ate at the hotel restaurant on one of the nights and the food was lovely. The free shuttle bus to taormina is a God send.

For the price we paid (£868 for 5 nights in June), the room itself was not worth that. It's dated and far from luxurious. The location is not great, not really possible to walk anywhere from there. There is a surcharge for everything - the spa, gym, towel hire for the pool. The beach is very sloped and the only loungers you don't feel you might slide off are the ones closest to the sea, for which there is a £15 charge.

Staff were all excellent. Friendly, helpful and welcoming. The shuttle service into Taormina was great. We used it everyday and it was always on time and the drivers were all very helpful.

No major issues but there’s a couple of things which could be improved. The strength of the WiFi could be better. The lifts are slow and a bit unreliable. Could definitely do with being updated. Restaurant is fine for breakfast with loads of choice ok but nothing special in the evening. Much better to eat in Taormina in the evening.

The hotel is in a beautiful location and very well maintained. It had its own private beach and pools. They had a free shuttle to get to Taormina which was great!

Some of the restaurants and bar were closed. You are quite secluded, so not close to conveniences. This made it is difficult to purchase water and other essential. We also had to walk across the beach to get to the next town, which was hard to manage with kids and strollers.

This is the perfect location for a family to relax and be out of the chaos of Taromina . The beach was not crowded and had beautiful views. They provide chairs and umbrella , as well as an easily accessible bathroom and beach bar with food . We had been eating out every night so we were happy to have the lunch meal at the hotel . Sandwiches and drinks and salads at reasonable prices and tasty snacks. Staff at the beach were friendly and welcoming, we saw the same people all week and they were exceptionally friendly and nice .

Absolutely beautiful property. Loved being along the water. The free shuttle service was excellent, right on time every time! While I am pleased with the hotel overall, I do wish something could’ve been done to alleviate all the bees and mosquitoes that were there. We couldn’t be outside to enjoy the property because there were too many around, but I guess that just comes with being near the water and having so many beautiful flowers on the property. We would’ve enjoyed it more if they were not buzzing around so much.

The insects

Had a great time in Hotel Caparena, just a short drive from Taormina and with a free shuttle service its in an excellent location. The pool was lovely, a good size with lots of sunbeds, and we also really enjoyed the private beach. Breakfast was also great with a lot of selections. The room was a decent size and we were upgraded for free which was especially great, the bathroom was fantastic.

Not much to fault, possibly the lifts, a bit old and only one of them went to floor 3 and it never seemed to be the lift you wanted. Not much of a big deal we used the stairs mostly.

The beach part of the Hotel is really excellent. Reliable and practical shuttle service to Taormina. The garden was also very nice. Typical Italian breakfast with a lot of "dolce", but sufficient other selection (warm food lacked a bit). Free parking (but very tight).

The main part of the hotel appears a bit dated. Train line between hotel and the beach. Parking space was very tight and not easy to use for anything but small cars. Warm food selection for breakfast could have been better.
