We loved this hotel. It’s definitely at the shabby end of shabby chic but it had fantastic staff, wonderful food and it’s in a good location. It was like stepping back in time to a place where staff were proud of their jobs and did everything they could to make your stay enjoyable. We loved Santo and Vincenzo in the restaurant, Mario at the bar and Kristina in reception, and everybody else too! The hotel was really clean. Breakfast was a good quality continental, dinners were spectacular, especially the cake. But the service is what makes this hotel amazing. Pool and pool area are nice, location is great as you can get to the beach easily and the cable car is almost next door. Also near the hop on hop off bus. We left last Wednesday afternoon and are trying plan another trip soon as we can. Thank you all very much.

The property is very nicely located near the beach and the cable car up to the city center. It has a nice pool and a good breakfast bar.

I had a problem with woman who was working at the front desk. I believe her name was Christina. I needed a taxi from the hotel to the train station. I knew that it was only supposed to be between 10 and 15 euros, but she wanted 25 euros. When I questioned her about it, she told me to get own. I walked a few meters down the street to the taxi stand and booked one at a fair price. Her attitude was not very customer service friendly. However, the wait staff was great.

The view is super nice but the best thing is the staff. I love the reception and everyone in the hotel. Christine help me with explaining how to go travel around in the city. She always reply me online telling me the best route and some recommendations. She also teach me and is so willing to help me if I have any question! I love Christine so much. Maria also help me to choose the best thing to do. She is so nice and even help me take photos and tell me not to Uber but go transportation she teach me how to commute and teach me to travel in the city too. Love love love love!!!!!!!!!!!! The hotel has great character and charm. It's family run, a traditional Hotel building, not a modern chain. Almost all rooms have a balcony with a sea view and there's a lift. The rooms were beautifully cleaned everyday. The beds have cotton sheets and plenty of blankets. The hotel is close to the sea shore which is much quieter than being in Taormina. To get to the town you can walk up stepped path in 25 minutes or take the funicular. All the hotel staff from reception to waiters to cleaners are polite, kind and attentive. The waiters in the dining room will know your name in five minutes and chat to you if you want. I was by myself but never felt lonely. The food is exceptional: The evening meal menu offers a choice of three or four different starters and main courses every evening, always a different fresh fish available for a main course. Plenty of vegetarian options. There's a pasta or soup or risotto or salad first course which is big enough for a meal in itself. Desserts are a choice of gateau or fruit salad or delectable creme caramel. The waiters bring your food on a trolley under silver dish covers, everything is done with old style and real charm. A peaceful relaxing place to stay where you'll meet local Sicilians and enjoy true hospitality.

The hotel is well located, close to the cable car to the city center. The view is awesome, I could see the sunrise from my room. Staff is so friendly. They offer a possibility to access a private beach club, but there is a fee (12 euros). First I thought that was expensive, however, it is included the sun umbrella, transportation to the local (5min) and the beach and club are super nice. Also, to rent an umbrela in any beach there is way more expensive.

The breakfast could have more options and fresh fruits.

Loved this hotel . Staff were so friendly and such characters , nothing too much trouble .Fantastic location, close to beach , resteraunts, cable car up to Taormina, mini market, bus stops. Loved their resteraunt too, where you are very well looked after and served in style . Menu is interesting !!! The hotel is a bit dated, but it works and is very clean.

Took a bit of getting used to the busy road the hotel is situated on, but after a day or two, we aclimatized.

Hotel Ipnema is well situated to explore and enjoy some of the most acclaimed coastal spots in all of Sicily. The hotel really does facilitate the best of both worlds: walking distance to beautiful beaches and coves such as Isola Bella as well as close proximity to local bus stop and two minute walk from the cable car which transports to Taormina centre. Prime position for sure. The hotel itself hosted character and charm with well informed staff who facilitated every possible excursion detail or amenity required. Such lovely people who are invested in their work and enable guests to feel reassured and catered for at all times. Fellow guests at the hotel were also quality company enabling a safe, happy and relaxed atmosphere for all. The rustic charm of the courtyard on an evening was particularly a highlight - surrounded by beautiful lemon trees and the ambience of a vast and eclectic music experience, guests were able to sit independently or collectively to reflect their adventures and relax each evening. The bar served a vast range of choices and was attended by staff with care and consideration.

The hotel and breakfast was everything that was promised - a great choice of accommodation to enhance our Sicily experience. To add, I would say that the images online do not best represent the offering prepared each day - a delicious selection to suit the individual. Not disregarding the charm of the hotel, of which charm is in abundance, there are facilities and decoration that could be updated which is the only point raised from former guests via reviews that I also noted during the duration of my own stay. This aside, my own experience of the hotel could not have been better.

Christina and Maria on Reception were SO lovely - so helpful and friendly, giving very honest, realistic and helpful information on the area, beaches, restaurants, etc. They were very helpful also in organising taxis.

No fridge in room and Lorenzo, the rather over-attentive waiter. Only one socket near the bed - not ideal if wanting to charge more than one item. My phone ended up being charged in the bathroom.

Spectacular location! We came here for our anniversary and were warmly welcomed by Christine. The hotel has old world charm and the rooftop pool and terrace both have commanding views of the bay. Our room was clean had a cute balcony with sea views. The bathroom was also modern and the air-conditioner worked well. Lovely dinner served by competent waiters.

Beds were on the firm side and soundproofing is not the best.
