We spent 2 nights at Mendolia Hotel. The room, and the hotel overall, has a large terrace, from where you can enjoy Isola Bella. The beach entrance is right across the street. There are some small grocery stores and plenty of restaurants nearby. The nearby beach is both private and public. We enjoyed both of them the same. The beach was stony but pretty clean. We received fresh towels every day. The personnel was very nice and accommodating. No complaints. Accessible. We arrived directly from Catania airport, took a direct bus (Etna) and walked for about 15 min. The Cablecar that takes you up to Taormina is nearby also (6 euro/direction).

Complimentary coffee and 1 bottle of water would have been nice, but nothing major to complain about. The sidewalk in overall Taormina is pretty much non-existent. If you stay by the beach just expect this regardless of where you stay.

A budget option in a fabulous location in an expensive area, that will meet all your needs. The room was light, bright, and clean, with a spacious balcony with views over Isola Bella beach. The hotel is directly opposite the steps down to the beach, and just a few minutes walk from the cablecar up to historic Taormina. The host very helpfully arranged a taxi transfer for us from Milazzo port. The road in front is busy but the double glazing and blackout curtains take care of it!

Location

It was loud and I don’t mean loud because the main road, but other guests were incredibly loud. The chairs moved around would cause so much noise upstairs (I was in room 121) that I feel like something should be put underneath each chair leg, something soft to prevent the sharp noise waking you up in the middle of the night, or early morning. People coughing and slamming doors. The gate was super loud. I know it’s a heavy door, but again - I tried to make as little noise closing it late in the evening/night, and some people would just SLAM it. I did a lot of walking g around, sightseeing and each night I was hoping for a better sleep, but that never came. Shame.

The view from our room was BREATHTAKING! we looked right out at Isola Bella. The room was clean with a beautiful veranda overlooking the view of the sea. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. The bus is close and the parking area is a 5 minute walk. We loved our stay at this hotel.

It can be a bit loud in the morning with vespas and cars honking and zooming by.

Beautiful room (lots of steps to get there but there is a lift and we preferred the exercise!) with a view to die for; we had a fridge to keep water cool and a balcony where we could have an extra glass of wine to end the evening. Beautiful - a lovely memory, and the staff were lovely too - thank you for a fabulous experience!

Parking was a little confusing; we managed to park down at the bottom near the cable car at 15 Euros a day (we were there for two). Not a massive inconvenience but it was raining and then seeing when we arrived so had to haul our things up the (short) hill in the rain. No fault of the hotel of course - the entrance is on the main road and parking limited there (we were told that after 8pm we probably would get a space nearby on the road for free but chose not to wait)

Very nice hotel, right in front of isola Bella, close to city center too, either beautiful hike up the stairs or there is a shuttle close by ( cable car under maintenance). Staff was friendly and helpful, room was cleaned daily. Room itself is lovely too and bed was quite comfy. If you are a light sleeper, id suggest ear plugs, but there weren’t any major noise concerns. Overall we had an amazing stay

The view from the balcony was stunning, just as promised. Curtains especially thick so the room was nicely dark at night. They were cleaning the room every day. Five minutes walk to the beach at the Isola Bella. Many restaurants and small markets on the street. The staff was very helpful, got a taxi for me as I was leaving early in the morning.

There was a boiling cattle for making tea but no glasses or mugs,only plastic cups. There was quite a noise from the street as there is a frequent road in front of the hotel (on the side where the balcony was situated), but it got quiet later in the evening. And last thing,which is not about the hotel,just a recommendation:if you are arriving to Taormina by train,I do not recommend walking to the hotel as I did. On google maps it said only 35 minutes,which was right,but there is practically no sidewalk and you need to use the roadside which felt pretty dangerous at times. I suggest using bus or a taxi for this part of the road.

Amazing view on the bay of Taormina, the perfect place to sit and read a book in the sun or enjoy a breakfast. Very spacious room. Good location close to many restaurants and the beach

Unfortunately, the room was very poorly isolated and we could hear everything from the neighbouring room (including their terrace on top of our bedroom) as if they were in the same room as us.

Great location and great views of Isola Bella - very close to the beach and has a minimart closeby for drinks etc. It's worth upgrading to a balcony because sitting there with some drinks and looking out onto the ocean was so relaxing and the best part of the hotel. They let us leave our luggage there when we checked out, too. Staff were friendly.

The room is outdated and fine for one or two nights but nothing special or luxurious. Worth it for the views though!

Great location close to pebble beach, Isola Bella, and funicular, except for lack of space to stop and unload/load car, or parking 300m from hotel. Good picnic breakfast delivered to room, at reasonable price.

The woman at front desk was quite rude, and seemingly mistook us for someone else. The beach club wanted to charge us €25 per person including kids and required a bed rental for all kids, which is ridiculous, with the woman at beach club being very rude and direct. Apparently if you book direct with hotel you get free beds, but no value given to hotel guests if not!
