We ordered a Fuji facing room but were very disappointed to see that the room on the 6th floor’s view was blocked by a high rise building about half a kilometer away. I asked the receptionist if we could have a higher floor, and after a 10 minute search, said we could have the 10th floor room but it would cost an extra 2,000 yen ($12). Of course we agreed and the honest receptionist asked if we really wanted it, as the forecast the next day was cloud and rain, and did we really want to spend the money. We said the weather was our problem, no fault to him, and yes, we would take it. Lucky for us, the next morning we woke to a glorious view of Mt. Fuji, in a comfortable, clean room, with a high regard to the honesty and integrity of the reception personel. We enjoyed the Western breakfast as opposed the the Japanese breakfast, especially as it was served to us in a Japanese styled private room, overlooking a beautiful pond, where we saw the children feed the Koi fish on the way to school

The staff were fantastic, they even upgraded us at checkin, very nice comfortable room with private onsen and great view from window.

The supposed (western breakfast) was seriously unwestern, you are taken to your stall or little room and they bring out your breakfast so you cannot choose anything, very disappointing since the only western thing on the platter was bread and runny eggs. Also to get the attention of the servers we had to get up and go after them every time as they were all standing together talking down the hall instead of serving, very unjapanese in my opinion.

The room we got had a clear view of Mt.Fuji and a personal-sized onsen! What a refreshing way to wake up! The size of the room was spacious, very different from the city hotels. There is a garden and koi pond in the middle of the hotel where you can walk around. There were three (3) upscale restaurants you can eat in, just make sure to schedule. Breakfast was served in one of the restaurants, Japanese-style. Service was friendly and efficient. Did I just say that the view from our room is breathtaking? Wonderful.

I wish there were more international cable channels, or maybe a movie streaming service so there are more choices of shows to watch.

The Mars GardenWood is a good hotel, which offers a Spa, good views of Mt Fuji, the rooms are big and well equipped.

The breakfast is very good, but you don't get any choice other the Western or Japanese. For western it standard cereal, eggs with two sides, soup, yougurt, bread/pastry with butter and jam/honey, plus coffee and OJ. You don't get to choose the cereal, the type of egg, coffee or tea etc.

Everything about this hotel was great. The Japanese breakfast was amazing. The room was spotless and they gave restocked our room with a bottle water for free. The garden with the fish pond is beautiful. The hotel is within reasonable walking distance from a 7 eleven. But having a car to go around is best. The parking garage is great.

Nice clean and big room with Mt Fuji View. The staff are very attentive. The moment my car entered the hotel compound, the staff rushed out to tender her service, including helping to unload the luggage and provision of the carpark entry card. The breakfast was nice. We chose the Japanese style breakfast and surprisingly, it was very elaborate. The staff at the restaurant were very courteous. We will come back here again when we next visit Gotemba. Btw, the carpark is a basement carpark, free parking, and the lift goes right up to the hotel room.

Fantastically landscaped property that is very near to the Gotemba Premium Outlet Mall. Property was quite spread out and the property area is quite big with different buildings. They have on-site onsen bath. Room is very spacious with a nice view of Mount Fuji

Location is a little out of the way but that is the trade off between somewhere in the hustle and bustle of a property in a city where everything is convenient vs somewhere that has more privacy. At least the bus stops for the free bus shuttle to the premium outlet mall is quite near which I discovered only arriving at the property. The breakfast is Japanese traditional meal and may not be enjoyable by most people as you do not have a say in the selection of food. Good for experience though.

The front desk staffs’ service could be much better, they were not very polite and seemed a bit rude to us. Especially a male receptionist who received us, his communication was not clear and lack politeness - there was no ‘thank you’ or ‘please’, so when he was asking us for documents he sounded like he was making demands. For a four star hotel, this is not a behaviour to tolerate for its guests.

Really friendly and attentive staff, we felt really welcome as soon as we arrived. Very nice and clean hotel with three restaurants on sites and a large pond with a nightly light and water show. Large beautiful room with a sensational view of Mount Fuji and a viewing lounge on the top floor.

Mars Garden Wood Gotemba had a good location and views. It is literally a garden woods. The view from our room was very nice. Due to the season during our stay, they have light show every hour (?) at night and we simply loved it. Rooms were big enough for a family of 4, even if the kids are almost adults.

Location was a little bit far from JR Gotemba station if you took the trains and have luggages. You will still need to take a taxi. It won’t be easy taking the shuttle bus.
