Tensui Saryo is located a few mins walk from the Gora station (you'll have to go through an underpass). It is super easy to catch the Hakone Railway and the cable car. The staff is wonderful. The younger workers spoke some English, but the older workers could not. Not a huge issue as long as you know a few words/phrases in Japanese and use Google Translate for the rest. Everyone was attentive and super helpful. Once you checked in, everything is pretty much handled through their website (like booking a private onsen, spa services, etc.) You get one free drink at the bar while you soak your feet! There are two buildings: the original and an annex. The annex is a newer building, so you do have to walk a little bit to get to the main building where all the amenities are. Not a huge issue when you enjoy wearing your yukata! I stayed at the annex building with a private bath. The view is stunning and the outdoor bath is nice, especially when the weather is cold and the water is super hot. It was relaxing soaking in your private bath outdoor, while enjoying the peace and quiet. The amenities in the room are very good. In addition to free water, the fridge also has some complimentary beers. The room provides pretty much everything you need for a stay: toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, face cleanser, face moisturizer, a steam mist machine for your face, pajamas. I did book a private onsen early in the morning (as there were limited time slots). You get 45 minutes, so be respectful of others as the workers need to clean the onsen before the next reservation. The bath was nice and could fit 2 adults. Highly recommend to do this early in the morning so you can catch the sunrise!   The dinner and breakfast were very good. We were all full on both meals and the food was delicious. Our waitress was super sweet and helpful. Overall, a very nice stay in Hakone!

The sink was right next to one of the beds. It was super weird to use, especially when you are brushing your teeth/washing your face in the morning while trying not to splash water on the bed.

A traditional Japanese ryokan with a western twist. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to help. A welcome drink was available at the bar where you can soak your feet but we didnt get a chance to do this. The room was a good size and comfortable, and although we love a firm mattress, this one was a little too firm for us. We stayed two nights. Lots of amenities in the room and little welcome Mochi. Traditional yukata (i think) were given to wear and you can book the private onsens on the roof with no extra fee (the view is lovely however the onsen is a little tired looking). Ice buckets were available on request. Not sure on ease of location as we hired a car to easily get around. Lovely place to stay.

It's a beautiful hotel with a scenic mountain view and great SPA facilities.

The staff were friendly, but we had many communication issues: booked a room with a private onsen but were told we had to reserve a time slot on the day and that it was too late. We asked again later (hoping to book for the next day) and another member of staff offered us a time slot. We then found out we have an onsen our our balcony, but no one mentioned it during the whole process despite having checked our room number. We also were told that our pre-paid breakfast needed to be booked upon arrival, and that we missed that slot too, then someone randomly offered us a time slot the next morning.

Great location. Gora is the best base to explore Hakone. The hotel is very close to train station, bus stop and taxi stand. Check-in staff was very attentive. (ไข่เจียว) She gave me a very cute hand drawn map of Gora area. Unlimited drink bar with foot bath is also great. The onsen, outdoor bath and private outdoor bath are well maintain. Unfortunately, I had no time to try bed rock bath. My room has private onsen on the corridor, but I didn’t use it cause a gecko was staring at me. Free drinks in the fridge. Full set of coffee maker. Spacious room. What else could I mention.

The checkout time at 10am is super early. No online option for food for solo traveler. So, I had to book for my breakfast at the property.

The room was very spacious and well decorated. The private onsen on the balcony was dreamy - I was there on a rainy day so couldn't see the view, but imagine it would have been spectacular if it were a clear day. The other onsens were also lovely with great shower facilities for all of them. The bar with the footbath was an absolute treat. I cannot fault anything about this stay.

The dinner came with a full menu, so it would have been nice if we got the same for the breakfast. It was all so delicious, I would have just liked to know what I was eating!

Had the double room with a private hot tub. The room came with a free booking for the public onsen, and a booking for the stone bath. Room quality great and quite large, the double bed was huge (not a normal.double). Right near the station with coffee shops and restaurants right outside.

The slippers and robes provided don't cater for western giants. Max size 9 slippers meant I had to wear my normal shoes around the hotel. The robes performed their job admirably but some larger / longer options would have saved a few close calls.

My wife and I were thrilled with the stay and would love to re-visit: - the traditional room was spacious and comfortable, with a great balcony (that has a hot spring tub) in which we caught the sunrise. - the complimentary stone bath and private hot spring were fantastic. - the breakfast was excellent. - the staff were friendly and helpful. - it was very close to the Gora bus station; it was also accessible from the east through a path cutting across the hills which allowed us to get there from the Miyaginobashi bus stop.

The staff and facilities were phenomenal. The view was lovely (despite the rain). It was nice having a private onsen on the balcony for the room as well as access to a selection of larger private onsen in the Ryokan you could book during your stay. The tatami mats, provided attire, and additional amenities really helped create the atmosphere of a luxurious Japanese stay.

While the cuisine was very well prepared and a delight to look at, sadly, none of it was particularly appetizing. Note, that is not to say that any of the food was unappealing, just that none of it left me with a feeling of wanting more of the particular dish. I thought this may have been due to my unfamiliarity with some of the local cuisine. However, later stays at other lodgings showcased many similar dishes which were far more delectable.

The room was gorgeous and very spacious. Me and my significant other really enjoyed the private onsen on our balcony. We were also blown away with the breakfast, it was delicious and it was just waiting for us when we got there.

I wish we had a better view because the view off of our balcony was a little sad with what looked like a public outdoor onsen that was completely drained. Also, we were tucked away pretty far in the annex building which was nice but also a far walk to the lobby.

The room was very spacious & clean, it included a tatami living room, separate bedroom and a hot bath on the balcony with mountain view. The hotel provided Yukatas for the guests to wear and it was very enjoyable experience to wear this around the accommodation and to breakfast. The room felt very private, which is perfect for a couple getaway. Overall, the hotel had a very nice traditional Japanese feel. There was also public onsen with good amenities, foot spa at the bar, as well as private onsen and sauna which can be reserved free of charge if you wanted to enjoy a different bathing experience.

The cleanliness of the bathing areas in the public onsen and in the private rooftop onsen could have been better. It looked like it hadn’t been clean very well and detracts from the relaxing experience.
