"The hotel rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed and equipped with everything you might need. We stayed for one night, which was perfect for doing some laundry and enjoying a restful sleep on the comfortable beds. The parking, conveniently located a short walk from the hotel, was included in the price, making the stay even more convenient."

Unfortunately, the noise from departing guests could be heard in the rooms. While this wasn't the hotel's fault, it was disappointing to encounter such inconsiderate behaviour from other guests.

The staff were amazing! The two ladies checking us in were genuinely wonderful and really contributed to us enjoying our stay- thank you! We discussed dinner options and they made us a reservation. The gentleman at check out the next day was also very pleasant. Breakfast was better than a business hotel and was being replenished frequently. The facilities were exceptionally clean. Our room was advertised as compact, which it was but my daughter and I could share the bed and as we had carry on it wasn’t a problem. Perhaps some foreign travellers may struggle but we were perfectly fine. I felt safe alone with my daughter. Double glazed windows kept the sound out from the road which we really appreciated.

Excellent stay! Great deal for that price. 10-15mins by walk from Yokoku station, so it was easy to travel to Beppu or other cities. Also close to the Hiji Castle ruins, where you can take a walk by the sea. The area was super quite but with great places to eat. The staff was very nice and spoke english. Excellent breakfast for 500yen/person. Totally reccomend!!

The room was a little bit tiny, so if you want to rest there for a bit, it might be not comfortable for someone.

The room is bright and the bed is comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Good noise insulation. Great breakfast.

A bit remote but lucky that it’s right next to the Main Street. You didn’t need to go inside those dark alleys at night. Lots of insects stick on the entrance doors.

Staff was so helpful in assisting us and the hotel, rooms and restaurant were all very nicely decorated and easy to access and use. Nice amenities provided along with lemon water and coffee. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Fico Hotel is new and conveniently located near Harmony Land in Hiji. I had a great rest at the hotel, enjoyed the breakfast, and appreciated the friendly staff.

The breakfast was quite good and there were lots of choices. The coffee was good and you could get a strong coffee unlike in some other places we tried. Everything was super clean and looked very new.

Fico is located near the center of Hiji, within walking distance of multiple shops and restaurants, and is well situated between Oita Airport and Beppu City. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I only spoke Japanese with them so I don't know how well they might be able to communicate in English, but there were ample signs and information posted everywhere in both Japanese and English. The decor gives the hotel an open and light feeling, even though the building itself and the rooms are on the small side. The room I stayed in was what I would expect for a budget hotel in Japan: Smaller and simple, but clean and adequate for the price. Breakfast was good and a good balance of Japanese and western styles, with small tastes of a variety of foods. It was the same every morning of my multi-day stay, and I didn't see any alternatives for those who might have dietary restrictions, but overall it was a good way to start the day. This would be a good place to stay if you are looking to explore Beppu, Yufuin, Usa, the Kunisaki Peninsula, and the rest of eastern Oita Prefecture while being budget-conscious.

I don't have any complaints, but I do have a note or suggestion: Oita Prefecture is known for onsen (natural hot springs) which the hotel does not have on-site, but I wouldn't expect onsen in the hotel at this price. I did not see and did not ask, but it would be nice if they can provide information in English or other languages about nearby onsen, how to access them, and how to use them.

The breakfast is delicious, and the front desk staff provided detailed explanations.

The room is noisier as it is close to the road.

We family stayed here one night after visiting Harmony Land. The room is compact but clean and our daughters love the bunk bed. Breakfast is great.
