It is a rather stylish hotel. With the little fountain outside and nice little garden my first impression was very good. The foyer is classy and the staff polite and friendly. We left our luggage for storage and were invited to have coffee or tea in a relaxing space in front of reception.A nice gesture from the hotel. The room that we stayed in was a 24 sq meters. Comfortable with all this space. We could open the window for fresh air. The bed is large and super comfy with two pillows per person. That’s lovely in my view. I had an impression, that I was staying in an apartment not a hotel room.

For me the onsen was too small. Or perhaps when I used it, it was too crowded. I was shocked by the price of breakfast and did not try it.

We just wanted some where to crash for a night on our way back to Osaka, this hotel was everything we wanted, despite the weird euro-esque theme throughout. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location was excellent. We arrived by car and were helpfully guided in parking our car by their parking attendant. Once inside, check in was smooth and painless. Room was surprisingly large for a big city - big enough to have 2 full sized single beds pushed together to make a king sized double, and then to spread out 2 big suitcases on the floor to repack them. We were on the 11th floor so we had a decent view of the city too. Spa/shared bath facilities were decent, if perhaps a little small for the size of the hotel. My partner ended up showering in our room because the women's bath was too full. Location-wise its stones throw from all the action in Sannomiya. If you want to eat Kobe beef, this is the place to be. We actually had trouble choosing somewhere to eat. The hotel.is off the main drag though, so you are a little sheltered from the hustle. Buffet breakfast was one of, if not the best I had the whole 2 weeks I was in Japan. Great variety, lots of dishes/options I didn't see anywhere else. Hot food was actually hot. Poached eggs and not just the runny mess that passes for scramble in Japan.

The parking cost Y2500/night which seemed pretty steep after weeks in the wilderness. Maybe that's just big city prices, but we paid 1200 in Takamatsu the night before.

The staff is very welcoming and helpful. We had a great stay of 3 nights. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast, the Onsen and our spacious room with 2 comfortable beds. The bathroom is quite new and everything is very clean. There is free coffee and tea provided during the day. I can highly recommend to stay here, especially if you plan to hike the nearby hills and mountains. You can easily relax there.

In the morning it can happen, that the elevators are high frequented and you have to wait. Especially if big groups are checking out or checking in.

1. Convenient (just about 2 minutes walk from Sannomiya station) 2. Hotel design and furnishing are fairly elegant 3. Each floor has an added layer of security, entering from the elevators. 4. Onsen is fairly large, and has both hot and cold pools, which I haven't seen in many hotels in Japan which I've stayed at before. 5. Amenities like toothpaste/toothbrushes, and water dispenser, provided together with the onsen.

My only issue would be the fact that the onsen hours are fairly limited. During peak hours, such as in the evenings, there may be a wait to use the onsen. At the same time, I stayed in a room with 3 beds. The room size was ok, but with the furnishings like the tables, chairs and dehumifier, it did feel slightly claustrophobic, given that we had 3 luggages in the room. The room size is probably more suited for just 2 beds.

Excellent location in the middle of Kobe, near subway and train lines, many attractions walkable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and amenities are beyond expectations. The Booking.com listing says no wi-fi and Japanese only, but actually there was wi-fi in the rooms, basic signage in English, and a lot of the staff can also speak English. Good times with my family, thank you so much!

My stay at Hotel Monterey Kobe was marked by its incredibly convenient location. Situated near Sannomiya Station, the hotel offers easy access to numerous destinations via bus or train, which greatly facilitated my travel around the city. The area surrounding the hotel is vibrant and full of amenities, including a variety of food stalls, renowned Kobe beef restaurants, and minimarts. This proximity to local dining and shopping options enhances the overall appeal of staying at Hotel Monterey Kobe.

However, the hotel does have a somewhat dark ambiance, which might not appeal to everyone. But, it's important to note that this is part of the boutique hotel's design aesthetic, aiming to create a specific mood and experience. While this can be seen as a minor drawback, it also adds to the hotel's unique character. Overall, Hotel Monterey Kobe offers a blend of strategic location and distinctive style, making it a noteworthy option for travelers seeking convenience paired with a touch of uniqueness.

It’s a great spot, easy enough to Sannomiya Station and just enough to be hidden directly behind the main tourist street. Very cool little Yakitori across the road if you arrive late and a hairdresser 1 floor up.

They used to make the best omelette I ever had, no more unfortunately. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment from our last stay.

The hotel had strong European vibes, which gave it a unique feel. The location was excellent — very convenient for catching a train straight to Osaka or using the metro to explore Kobe. We really enjoyed the little onsen downstairs; just keep in mind that tattoos need to be covered, but the hotel staff was very kind and helpful.

Overall it is very good. The staff are very polite, the place is very well kept.

We arrived a bit earlier & we parked our car for 3 hours before check in. The car park attendant told us it was 500 yen & it turned out it was 500 yen per hour. If it was communicated clearly we would have parked at the public car park just opposite the hotel for less than half the rate.

We were late check in at around 10 pm in the evening, the receptionist 小亀 was so helpful and polite to guide my dad to park the car at outside parking due to car park was full in the hotel. He helped to brought bath towel to my room when I called to request

Not enough car parking at the hotel, it’s full when check in late, the location is not easy to find if driving the the hotel
