It was central.. a station a few doors down.. convenience store and eateries down stairs. McDonald's and bus stop nearby. Typical Japanese hospitality..warm and welcoming. Amenities were in the lobby to help yourself to.. 🪥 and paste, brush.. etc Oh I chose for breakfast to be included..and I'm glad I did.. the selection was huge and this is where I got to taste traditional Japanese breakfast ...healthy .. some were tasty some had an acquired taste.. the little picture ingredients cards were extremely useful..

When other guests returned to the rooms the noise carried through. Room was hot..I didn't turn on the AC that was in the room. TV was a bit difficult to operate into English.. not that we had time to watch anything.

Location is easily accessible by train, taxis, and near tourist landmarks. Some shrines and temples are walking distance from hotel. We also love the free shuttle to Kinkakuji Temple. The staff are all wonderful and helpful. Free toiletries were nice and pajamas so less packing. Coffee shops, restaurants, fastfood and convenience store nearby. Also free to use umbrellas.

They never changed our bedsheets and comforters for the whole stay. The air conditioner filters and the air purifiers were really dusty and could use some new filters or at least cleaned out with a vacuum. The floors could use vacuum too. The breakfast was always cold and for the price it was high. But we went ahead with it as we need coffee and something to eat when we didn’t want to head out yet. The school bus coffee shop next door was the best alternative.

Booked the quadruple bed room for 4 adults. Pics are accurate as you literally have very little to no space to park your luggage. But our family made it work as we wanted to be in the same room during our 3 night stay. Breakfast buffet had a lot of variety but served the same items daily. Staff were very pleasant and most made a point to make eye contact, greet you and say hello. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip!

Awesome location relative to a train station which made transit really easy and also walkable to plenty of cute areas. the staff was very friendly. Property was clean, we made a short-notice booking and were pleasantly surprised when they were able to get us connecting rooms.

There is NO way we could’ve shared the two bed plus sofa with our family of four. There’s literally no extra space. They offer a shuttle to arashiyama and kinkakuji but failed to tell us we had to reserve well in advance so we weren’t able to take advantage of that amenity BUT we were able to make a quick change to using public transportation since the station is under the hotel.

It was a great hotel with great staff! Everyone were so nice and helpful! We left our luggage when we arrived at 12 before checking in at 3pm. Location was amazing to visit shrine at night when no one is around and 15min walking distance to Tokyo SkyTree. We went about visiting main areas and it would take around 50 to get to Shibuya or Harajuku on a train, but always way shorter to come back and since it was first/last stop there would be places to sit. And only 50gbp taxi ride to DisneySea!

The hotel was good. Staff are very helpful and kind. Hotel is easy access to Marutamachi station and convenient to travel to major tourist destinations. Breakfast is also good. With different varieties of Western and Japanese style breakfast.

They have an area for doing your laundry. But it's quite dirty. My concern is the Ice dispenser is right next to a dusty and dirty washing machine and dryer. and it's very unpleasant. I hope they'll clean that area and relocate the Ice dispenser for a clean place.

Have returned here multiple times - great rooms, very easy check-in, directly beside the subway and bus stops, and close to a variety of nearby landmarks. It makes a very good base for exploring Kyoto. The beds are comfortable, and they provide extra pillows on request. Desk staff are always very friendly, and windows are sound-proofed. A wide array of complementary amenities are available, including bottomless tea!

I booked hotel MONday Kyoto Marutamachi as part of a special deal on booking.com and the room I booked was spacious with two comfortable double beds and a sofa bed. The bathroom was also spacious and everything was clean. I also used the coin operated washing machine and dryer which was straight forward and easy to use. The hotel is close to a metro station and supermarket and restaurants are nearby.

I think there was a school trip on the night that I stayed so the lobby area at one point was very loud with teenagers, but this was only temporary as I was only waiting for the escalator to get to my room.

The design, cleanliness, staff, security and even availability of buses to go to Kinkaku-ji and Arashiyama. The place is very close to Marutamachi. The location is also close to Imperial Palace and World Heritage Nijo-jo Castle.

On the surroundings there is no konbini very close. You are going to have to walk around 7-10min to find one. One small detail is that the clock in the bedroom might be noisy at night when everything is too quiet.

Room was comfy and clean. Powerful shower. Coin laundry machines provided on site. Location was excellent - right by Marutamachi subway.

Lifts full of confused young people riding them in the wrong direction - often had to wait more than 10 minutes to get down as no staircase (except emergencies). Staff tried to insist on checking my zairyu card, but there's no legal requirement as a foreign national in Japan to show any ID. I refused as per my legal and human rights, which caused a huge amount of fuss, despite the fact I've stayed at 20+ hotels in Japan last year with no issue.
